Cavuto just had a guest conservative to discuss Obama's Universal Healthcare. According to Fox, Obama is about to unveil a new employees' tax -- approximately 25% -- on all health insurance provided by an employer, to help pay for universal care. The estimate discussed is an additional $ 59 billion in new taxes this year, for an estimated $1 trillion in new taxes to fund Obamacare by 2019. The next guest -- a Liberal -- is now screaming at Cavuto that Obama's plan will be 'wonderful." Cavuto replies that no one knows what the healthcare plan will be -- there...

WASHINGTON — President Obama said Wednesday that he was receptive to Congressional proposals that would require every American to have health insurance and that would force employers to offer health insurance to their employees. But he said there should be exemptions for people who cannot afford coverage and for small businesses in general.

POLITICO (Washington) -- If Congress were to take a vote on a health reform bill today, Democrats and Republicans would find a surprising level of agreement — so much so that the broad outlines of a consensus plan already are taking shape. Sick or healthy, rich or poor, all Americans would be guaranteed access to health insurance. In fact, they'd probably be required to purchase it — perhaps through mandates in the law that would include stiff tax penalties for anyone who tried to opt out snip

The disgraced boss of a hospital where as many as 1,200 patients died unnecessarily has resigned from his post. Martin Yeates, the former chief executive of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, was suspended in March ahead of a damning Healthcare Commission report. It found an 'appalling' catalogue of failings at every level at Stafford hospital under his leadership The report found death rates were dangerously higher than average while bosses saved millions of pounds on medical staff to become a foundation trust. It revealed secretaries were carrying out initial checks on admissions to A&E due to staffing shortages and patients...

When President Obama won approval for his $787 billion stimulus package in February, large sections of the 407-page bill focused on a push for new technology that would not stimulate the economy for years. The inclusion of as much as $36.5 billion in spending to create a nationwide network of electronic health records fulfilled one of Obama's key campaign promises -- to launch the reform of America's costly health-care system. But it was more than a political victory for the new administration. It also represented a triumph for an influential trade group whose members now stand to gain billions in...

President Barack Obama on Friday will name Dr. Thomas Frieden as director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, administration officials told The New York Times. Frieden has served as New York City's health commissioner for the past seven years. In that time, he spearheaded a campaign to ban smoking in restaurants and bars, boosted the number of New Yorkers getting HIV tests and helped to distribute millions of free condoms. He will inherit a looming decision on how best to manage a swine flu outbreak, including whether or how to produce a swine flu vaccine. The virus...

As Congress prepares to vote on a budget that would include a procedural tool allowing Democrats to effectively shutout Republicans and pass sweeping health-care reform, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today extended an olive branch across the aisle. "Make no mistake -- we are determined to reform health care this year." Reid said in a letter to Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. "Our strong preference is to do so by working alongside you and your caucus." Congress on Wednesday is expected to pass its budget, which will include a procedure measure known as "reconciliation" allowing Democrats to pass health-care legislation with...

Hospital scandal: missed warnings The shocking extent of the failures at an NHS hospital where hundreds of patients died unnecessarily can be disclosed today. Senior managers at Stafford Hospital were told repeatedly that the standard of care they were delivering was not good enough but each time the warnings were ignored. The disclosures follow the publication last week of a damning report by the NHS regulator, the Healthcare Commission, that found that hundreds of patients died at the hospital because of the “appalling” treatment they received. By AP Wire Services Published: 3/21/2009 2:27 AM Last Modified: 3/21/2009 2:27 AM LAS VEGAS (AP) — The AARP has long been seen as the domain of the aged. But its new CEO says the group's central issue of health-care reform makes it an advocate for every age group. "This is an issue about the American dream," said Barry Rand, who will take over the 40-million-member AARP on April 6. "We either reinforce the American dream for all, or we redefine it." The more-inclusive approach being championed by Rand gained momentum under outgoing CEO Bill Novelli, whose "Divided We Fail"...

I'm done. I've had it with the Liberals and their blank check mentality. Seriously, $1 Trillion for national health care that has never worked anywhere on the planet!?! The Washington Post reports: President Obama intends to release a budget tomorrow that creates a 10-year, $634 billion "reserve fund" to partially pay for a vast expansion of the U.S. health care system, an overhaul that many experts project will cost as much as $1 trillion over the next decade. $1 Trillion? This is another freaking joke! Our President is out of control! Obama would pay for the expansion by trimming tax...

There are many reasons to object to this stinking pile from adding up debt that will increase inflation, taxes and interest rates when its effects are really felt down the road to repeating another Great Society version 2.0. The stimulus was supposed to be targeted, timely and temporary, but Porkulus isn't. Much of it will lead to permanent increases in the Federeal budget, especially in healthcare. Tom Dascle is gone, but his plan remains which is basically rationing with one size fits all. There’s Socialized Medicine Burried in Obama’s Trillion Dollar Debt PlanThat vision involves using large government bureaucracy and computer...

Covertly slipped into GL Obama’s faux “stimulus bill” last weekend—by leftist Democrats—was the Socialist Universal Healthcare program. Contained within the bill is the provision that doctors will now be forced to report any and all of their patient treatments to the federal government for approval to treat. Also contained within this portion of Obama’s non-stimulus bill is the rationing of healthcare services to senior US citizens and the withholding of potentially life-saving measures. As Democrat Tom Daschle wrote in his book “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis” senior citizens “should be more accepting of the conditions that...

A little-discussed provision in President Obama's economic stimulus plan would demand that every American submit to a government program for electronic medical records without a choice to opt out, and it has privacy advocates more than a little alarmed. Patients might be alarmed, too, privacy advocates said, if they realized information such as documentation on abortions, mental health problems, impotence, being labeled as a non-compliant patient, lawsuits against doctors and sexual problems could be shared electronically with, perhaps, millions of people.

President-Elect Barack Obama’s nominee for Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Tom Daschle is reportedly eying Japan as a possible model for a US national health care system. “I don’t blame people for being queasy about the national health care systems in Canada or the UK,” Daschle said. “There have been enough horror stories about inadequate facilities, long waits, and indifferent medical personnel. But Japan has a sterling reputation for quality and efficiency. Look what they’ve done to our auto industry.” The key, according to Daschle, is Japan’s devotion to preventive care. “If all we do is...

SYDNEY, Australia – A German doctor hoping to gain permanent residency in Australia said Friday he will fight a decision by the immigration department to deny his application because his son has Down syndrome. Bernhard Moeller, a specialist physician, came to Australia with his family two years ago to help fill a doctor shortage in a rural area of Victoria state. His temporary work visa is valid until 2010, but his application for permanent residency was rejected this week. The immigration department said Moeller's 13-year-old son, Lukas, "did not meet the health requirement."

Cancer patients are to be denied drugs which could keep them alive after the NHS rationing watchdog ruled that they are too expensive. Patient groups said the decision, announced today by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice), would condemn many sufferers of kidney cancer to an "early death". Four prohibited medicines include Sutent, which can prolong life in kidney cancer patients by up to two years. Nice said the drugs were too expensive, at about £24,000/year per patient, for the benefits they offered and would mean the health service was less able to afford more cost-effective drugs...

In a move that could lead to significant changes in medical care for older men, a national task force on Monday recommended that doctors stop screening men ages 75 and older for prostate cancer because the search for the disease in this group was causing more harm than good. The guidelines, issued by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, represent an abrupt policy change by an influential panel that had withheld any advice regarding screening for prostate cancer, citing a lack of reliable evidence. Though the task force still has not taken a stand on the value of screening in...
