VIDEO: Dakota Access Pipeline Company Attacks Native American Protesters with Dogs and Pepper Spray On September 3, the Dakota Access pipeline company attacked Native Americans with dogs and pepper spray as they protested against the $3.8 billion pipeline’s construction. If completed, the pipeline would carry about 500,000 barrels of crude per day from North Dakota’s Bakken oilfield to Illinois. The project has faced months of resistance from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and members of nearly 100 more tribes from across the U.S. and Canada. Democracy Now! was on the ground at Saturday’s action and brings you this report:

FOLLOWERS: (grumbling) WARREN: Great for the guys who don't care how much they've already squeezed from everyone else. Great for the guys who always want more. Because that's who Donald Trump is, the guy who wants it all for himself. And watch out, because he will crush you into the dirt to get whatever he wants. After he called Warren “Pocahontas,” a local reporter shouted that she finds that offensive. Trump calls Warren "Pocahontas". Local ND reporter yells "that's very offensive". Trump says "ok". Then calls warren "Pocahontas" again. “She was able to get into various schools,” Trump alleged, saying that was because she applied as Native American. “I think she’s as Native American as I am.”

Uh oh. So NOBODY cares. Bad news, outrage peddlers. We’ve known for some time that nobody really cares about your efforts to make America clamor for the end of the racist monstrosity known as the “Washington Redskins.” It’s been a non-issue for most people since day one. However, if you hate that ugly football team, things just took a turn for the worse. Not only is the majority ambivalent, but a new Washington Post poll has been released and, according to the data, Social Justice Warriors have failed to convince Native Americans that they should care either.

The left has concocted a lucrative category of politically correct victims: "climate refugees." It's the new Green racket. U.S. taxpayers will now be forking over untold billions to ease the pain allegedly inflicted on "carbon's casualties" by industrial activity. By contrast, those who have suffered as a direct result of government incompetence by federal environmental bureaucrats continue to get the shaft. Consider the plight of two tribes: the Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw in Louisiana and the Navajo Nation in New Mexico. The New York Times splashed a viral story on its pages this week spotlighting the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's...

My liberal friends ask me from time to time why I hate government. I don’t hate government, of course. It’s a necessary evil. But I do hate much of what is done in the name of government because many times it is an unnecessary evil. Such is the case of a 6-year-old girl named Lexi. Lexi has lived the vast majority of her short life in foster care, the last 4 ½ years with the Page family in California. Her parents are not dead; they’re degenerates – addicts who have spent time in prison. They don’t have custody, nor do...

The celebration of Thanksgiving may be a beloved tradition, but one group of Native Americans has revealed what the holiday really means to them in a moving video series that dispels the historical inaccuracies and stereotypes associated with their culture. As part of Cut.com's One Word video series, a group of men and women from the Native American community have shared their thoughts on the words: Thanksgiving, Christopher Columbus, reservation and redskins. And while many of the men and women agree that the 'redskins' is an 'offensive' and 'racist' term, the group shared different opinions about what it means to...

Happens every Thanksgiving, doesn’t? Some bleeding heart liberal you’re “related to” gets on their moral high Crazy Horse and lectures about how horribly rotten the white man was to the Native Americans. Which is why this year we’re throwing in the tomahawk. Time to scalp the facts about the Indians. Feathers not dots. TRIGGER WARNING: offensive video at link. Transcript (without the sketch-cutaways or jokes) It’s Thanksgiving! You know what that means. As you try and enjoy your downtime with your family, you’ll undoubtedly find a social justice warrior around your Thanksgiving table trying to force-feed you white guilt. Afterall,...

It goes without saying our history with Native Americans is not our nation's finest hour. Native Americans lost right at 98 percent of their land in about 200 years as Manifest Destiny took hold. They now account for about 1 percent of the population about 3 million people scattered across 566 recognized tribes. About a quarter of Native Americans live in poverty the overall rate is about 14 percent. Their rates of alcoholism in particular and drug and alcohol abuse in general are significantly higher than the population at large, and their educational attainment, life expectancy and income levels significantly...

It’s not because he was the “first”, but because his voyage has proven to be the most significant and historically altering My wife and I were watching a show on the History Channel about who was really the first to discover America. Why? First, we both love shows that get us to think “Wow, I never knew that.” Second, I always start with the hope that the show will puncture some educational pomposity. Luckily for us, both my chance to say “Gee, I didn’t know that” AND watch some of the pomposity of our liberal leaning educators exposed was achieved....

When Pope Francis canonizes Father Junípero Serra on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., Serra will be the first Hispanic American saint, and the first saint canonized on American soil. He also figures to be one of the most controversial saints in the long history of the Roman Catholic Church – a symbol that roils some hearts even as it lifts others. Serra, an 18th-century Spanish friar who founded nine of the 21 California missions, including Mission San Juan Capistrano, is gaining sainthood, in part, because he helped bring the church to the Americas. By one reckoning, Serra’s legacy is nothing less...

The first book printed in America was the Bay Psalm Book by John Eliot, who was baptized in England as an infant on Aug. 5, 1604. Called “Apostle to the Indians,” he sailed to America and preached his first sermon in the Algonquian language in 1646. He translated the Ten Commandments, Lord’s Prayer and the Bible – the first to be printed in America, in 1663. In a 1674 census, 4,000 “Praying Indians” were in 14 self-ruling villages with houses, streets, bridges and their own ministers. “Praying Indian” villages were located throughout Massachusetts, Martha’s Vineyard and Rhode Island. John Eliot...

It is often held aloft by environmental campaign groups as an example of one of the last remaining regions of unspoiled habitat left in the world. But instead of being a pristine rainforest untouched by human hands, the Amazon appears to have been profoundly shaped by mankind. An international team of researchers have published evidence that suggests the Amazon was once home to millions of people who lived and farmed in the area now covered by trees.

Analysis of DNA of present day indigineous people throws new light on how our ancestors crossed the Bering land and ice bridge which then connected modern-day Chukotka and Alaska. A study led by the Centre for GeoGenetics at the University of Copenhagen, asserts that there was one one initial migration from Siberia to America. Around 10,000 years later there was a split in these human ancestors into two groups, which anthropologists call Amerindians (American Indians) and Athabascans (a native Alaskan people). Previous research had suggested that Amerindian and Athabascan ancestors had crossed the strait independently. 'Our study presents the most...

Tribal laws of the two largest Native American tribes in the United States prohibit gay marriage, as do the laws of nine other smaller tribes. The Navajo and Cherokee Nations, the first and second largest tribes respectively, together have about 600,000 members. The nine smaller tribes that ban gay marriage have another 350,000 members. These tribes all either define marriage as between a man and a woman or explicitly prohibit same-sex marriage, according to the Associated Press (AP). Since 2011, six of the eleven tribes revisited and upheld their preexisting legal definitions of marriage as between a man and a...

On Wednesday, First Lady Michelle Obama addressed a gathering at the White House that focused on the topic of creating opportunity for Native American youth. The White House posted her prepared remarks online. The full speech, as posted by the White House, can be read by clicking here. Here is an excerpt from the First Lady's remarks: You see, we need to be very clear about where the challenges in this community first started. Folks in Indian Country didn’t just wake up one day with addiction problems. Poverty and violence didn’t just randomly happen to this community. These issues are...

Opening the door for what could be a lucrative and controversial new industry on some Native American reservations, the Justice Department on Thursday will tell U.S. attorneys to not prevent tribes from growing or selling marijuana on the sovereign lands, even in states that ban the practice. The new guidance, released in a memorandum, will be implemented on a case-by-case basis and tribes must still follow federal guidelines, said Timothy Purdon, the U.S. attorney for North Dakota and the chairman of the Attorney General's Subcommittee on Native American Issues. It remains to be seen how many reservations will take advantage...
