NBC's Lauer Claims Breitbart Breaking Weiner Story Violated Conservative Principles Kyle Drennen June 7, 2011 In an interview with Andrew Breitbart on Tuesday's NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer suggested the conservative blogger should not have broken news of the scandal involving Congressman Anthony Weiner: "Did you worry that – you know, as a conservative, you don't want government in people's bedrooms. And so did you stop and have a debate with yourself about that?" Moments earlier, Breitbart had noted feeling some sympathy for Weiner during Monday's press conference: "I felt so unbelievably sad for this guy." Lauer responded by wondering...

Yesterday we reported that TV news crews were on the move due to fears of radiation exposure. Today we saw the first example of why those moves were made. On “Today” this morning, NBC News anchor Lester Holt revealed that he and his crew tested positive for small traces of radiation after returning to his hotel from spending time in the field. Luckily, as Holt explains, the amount of radiation he was exposed to was very small. His shoes, however, will not be coming back to the U.S. after his trip ends.

NBC/WSJ pollster: Results show 'rebuke' of last two years Republicans remain on course to make substantial midterm gains across the country and to win control of at least one chamber of Congress, according to the final NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll before Tuesday’s elections. Nearly 50 percent of likely voters prefer a GOP-controlled Congress, which is virtually unchanged from the poll taken two weeks ago; a plurality of all registered voters say it would be a “good thing” if Republicans were in charge of both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate; and almost two-thirds — including about half of Democrats...

Six months ago, network executives were complaining that the White House was costing them tens of millions of dollars by pressing them to carry presidential news conferences in prime time. Problem solved: President Obama hasn't held a full-scale news conference since July. Instead, he answered a dozen people's questions last week on YouTube, most of them easily finessed and -- extra bonus! -- no annoying follow-ups of the kind posed by real, live journalists. It would be hard -- impossible, actually -- to argue that Obama hasn't been accessible to the media, not with his constant television interviews. The man...

NBC’s interview with David Goldman has drawn a scathing review from the Society of Professional Journalists’ Ethics Committee. The panel says it’s “appalled” because NBC News chartered a plane for Goldman and his son, Sean, to fly from Brazil to the United States. They were reunited after a five-year custody battle, and they arrived in Orlando on Christmas Eve. In paying for the plane, NBC News engaged in “checkbook journalism,” the Ethics Committee says. Sorry, again, for the vanity. Watching the NBC Nightly News tonight, and not a single story on Acorn, or the 912 TeaParty. It is an absolute outrage that these propagandist are allowed to continue this charade. Rush had it right today, the next protest should be at the front door of NBC News. Put them in a position that they cannot avoid.
  • NBC Channel 5 in Chicago Completely IGNORES 912 Rally. What's Your Local Markets Doing?

Just finished watching the NBC News here in the Chicago Market. Guess what? Not a single mention of the rally in Washington DC today. Not one single second. Oh sure, they covered some small ethnic rally in a near south side neighborhood and Obama's speech in Minnesota today for nearly 30 seconds, but for the D.C. Rally? Silence. I just fired off an email to them expressing my disgust and letting them know I was switching to another station for my local news. I've watched Channel 5's news for as long as I can remember, but no more. Enough is...
  • Setting Tone for Night? Williams Whines Obama 'Bruised' By 'Wild and False Rumors'

“The new President has been bruised along the way as poll numbers are falling and he has seen his message hijacked as town meetings have exploded with wild and false rumors of 'death panels' deciding when a human life should end,” Brian Williams declared at the top of Wednesday's NBC Nightly News, in adopting as fact the liberal presumption that conservatives, not liberals, are guilty of the misrepresentations. In advance of President Obama's prime time speech before Congress to push his health care agenda, Williams began his September 9 newscast for the Eastern and Central time zones:
  • “Meet the Press” finds the big lesson in the Van Jones story: You can’t trust the Internet

You have to see it to believe it. The singular lesson of the past week, after big media failed to uncover Jones’s Truther past and then actively suppressed it when it broke online, is that they can’t be trusted to chase stories that are inconvenient to The One — especially if doing so would burnish Glenn Beck’s credibility. And yet here they are, through two of their priestlier representatives, warning the public that only a fool would play in the “open sewer” that is the Internet, where lies and smears and video clips that the networks won’t show of Obama...

Are you tired of all the focus on what Michelle Obama wears? Well, the good folks at the "Today" show certainly aren't, for they spent a lot of time this week discussing whether or not the First Lady was dressed appropriately when she got off Air Force One Sunday on her way to the Grand Canyon. As the nation grapples with such important issues as the ongoing recession and healthcare reform, NBC's morning show actually spent TWO DAYS days talking about Michelle's shorts. In case you missed it, here are some of the gushing highlights (videos embedded below the fold...
  • Unreal: MSNBC edits clip of man with gun at Obama rally to support racism narrative

I missed this yesterday at Newsbusters but Treacher, rightly aghast, tipped me to it this afternoon. Never will you see a starker example of MSNBC getting away with the sort of deception for which Fox News would be pilloried, especially in the context of race. If you missed Monday’s post about this, go watch the footage (or look at this photo) and see if you can deduce why they wouldn’t want to show the guy with the rifle from the neck up during this particular segment. For all the well-deserved heat that MSNBC’s primetime line-up has taken for its demagoguery...
