RABAT, Morocco (AP) — Two U.S. Marines were killed and two severely injured in the crash of a hybrid aircraft in Morocco on Wednesday, officials said. The Marines were taking part in joint U.S.-Moroccan military excercises located in the south of the country based in Agadir, said U.S. Embassy spokesman Rodney Ford in Rabat, who gave the toll. Capt. Kevin Schultz, a Marine spokesman at the Pentagon in Washington, confirmed that the aircraft involved was an MV-22 Osprey, which takes off and lands like a helicopter and flies like an airplane. The aircraft was participating in a U.S.-Moroccan military exercise...

When the Spanish online voting company SKYTL bought the largest vote processing corporation in the United States, it also acquired the means of manufacturing the outcome of the 2012 election. For SOE, the Tampa based corporation purchased by SKYTL in January, supplies the election software which records, counts, and reports the votes of Americans in 26 states–900 total jurisdictions–across the nation. As the largest election results reporting company in the US, SOE provides reports right down to the precinct level. But before going anywhere else, those election returns are routed to individual, company servers where the people who run them...

    Time Magazine ^ | Sept 2011 | Amy Sullivan
Coverage in the Washington Post and a new book by Ron Suskind has focused attention on the frustration of Obama’s female advisers. But the problem has been obvious almost since Obama took office. And while the explanations so far have blamed members of the mostly-departed boys club–Robert Gibbs, Rahm Emanuel–Obama himself is responsible for a work atmosphere that marginalizes and ignores women. The U.S. Senate race in Virginia remains a toss-up, with Republican George Allen ahead of Democrat Tim Kaine by just two points. The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey finds Allen drawing 46% of the vote to Kaine’s 44%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.
  • Second Video Shows Brutal Gang Attack On Tourist Outside Baltimore Courthouse

4/10 UPDATE: Baltimore's police chief today said that the videotaped beating of a white tourist does not appear to be a hate crime, but rather "drunken opportunistic criminality" on the part of a gang of Charm City assailants. In a radio interview, Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld III urged Baltimore residents to "distinguish between criminality and racially motivated crime." Bealefeld, who is white, warned against "race-baiting" and "fear-mongering" in light of the Trayvon Martin shooting and other recent racially charged incidents.

Lollipops and Tantrums The Fed is much like a rotten mother who throws her spoiled brat a lollipop as a reward for a temper tantrum says John Hussman in yet another excellent missive: Is the Fed Promoting Recovery or Desperation? On Friday, the Department of Labor reported that March non-farm payrolls increased by 120,000, falling well short of consensus expectations in excess of 200,000. For our part, we continue to expect a deterioration in observable economic variables, with weakness that emerges gradually and then accelerates toward mid-year. On the payroll front, our present expectation is that April job creation will...

  • Don’t do business with progressive appeasers (heads up - take action!!)

Let’s stipulate: Activists on the left are free to exercise their rights of speech and assembly to boycott businesses whose politics they oppose. Conversely, activists on the right are free to exercise the power of their pocketbooks and refrain from supporting businesses that shun their values. So, what are you waiting for, conservatives? There are coordinated shakedowns taking place right now that involve some of America’s most prominent companies who’ve chosen to surrender to progressive bullying and race-card opportunism. Silence is complicity. On Tuesday, McDonald’s told liberal magazine Mother Jones that the company had “decided to cut ties with ALEC,...
  • Progressive Caucus chairmen: West's communist crack smacks of McCarthyism

The co-chairmen of the Congressional Progressive Caucus called comments made by Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) reminiscent of McCarthyism. West said Tuesday he heard a rumor that about 80 Democratic members of Congress were in the Communist Party. West declined to give names. Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) compared West's comment to Sen. Joe McCarthy (R-Wis.) who in 1950 said he had a list of communists in government.

AP via Boston Herald ^ | Sunday, April 8, 2012
For nearly a decade, traffic has been zipping through Boston’s Big Dig tunnels, the nation’s costliest highway project that has also left a gaping financial hole in the state’s transportation budget that isn’t likely to be filled anytime soon. "Big Dig debt" has lately become one of the most frequently used—if not fully understood—terms in Massachusetts government. It was at the forefront of a tumultuous public debate over the MBTA’s finances that ultimately produced an average 23 percent fare hike and modest service cuts, but no permanent solutions for the chronically underfunded transit system. Next year, it could spark a...

Dr. Charles Ogletree, who taught both Barack and Michelle Obama at Harvard Law School, aid during the National Action Network convention Wednesday that the slain teen Trayvon Martin is a “symbol of whats wrong” with America. Complaining about the Florida “stand your ground” law that may protect Martin’s killer George Zimmerman from prosecution, Ogletree encouraged his audience of activists to imagine the racial tables were turned. “Just think about changing the race,” Ogletree said. “I want to see the first black man who uses the ‘stand your ground’ defense and see if it works — first

With the presidential battle begun, the Obama campaign has revived the Cold War nuclear strategy of launch on warning. At any suggestion that a conservative idea might be threatening its ideological fortress, the American left now launches ICBMs of rhetorical destruction. So it was after the Supreme Court's hearings on the Obama Affordable Care Act, which put in jeopardy the federal command to buy health insurance. After the president green-flagged the assault, the Supreme Court's "legitimacy" was in play. The Roberts Court, wrote one blogger, is "on trial." On current course, House GOP Budget Chairman Paul Ryan himself may exhaust...

The European Central Bank may intervene to pull down Madrid's borrowing costs as prime minister Mariano Rajoy warned that debt had created a "vicious circle that strangles Spain". Benoit Coeure, an executive director of the ECB, said the bank could restart its sovereign bond buying programme in a move likely to antagonize Germany but relieve a spiralling political, economic and social crisis in Spain. Mr Coeure said that market fears over Spain were "not justified" but he added: "Will the ECB intervene? We have an instrument, the securities markets programme [SMP] which hasn't been used recently but it still exists."...

ORLANDO, Fla. - Attorney Mark O'Mara, who was a legal expert for Local 6 in the Casey Anthony murder trial and the ongoing Trayvon Martin death investigation, is now representing George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed the teen in Sanford. Zimmerman was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in Martin's death. O'Mara said Zimmerman will plead not guilty. "I'm expecting a lot of work and hopefully justice in the end," said O'Mara, who added that Zimmerman is OK but concerned about his future. "He's frightened." O'Mara said he spoke to Zimmerman on the phone earlier in the day....

EAGnews.org is releasing a series of stunning reports to show taxpayers exactly how our dollars are being spent in government schools.  We repeatedly hear from the education establishment that school coffers are being raided, requiring teachers to be laid off and programs to be cut.  We hear schools are on the brink of bankruptcy and are operating on shoe-string budgets. But local media outlets have long been derelict in telling citizens how the billions of K-12 dollars are really being spent.  How can taxpayers determine if schools actually do need more money if no one is tracking where the dollars...
  • Obamacare abortion mandate withers, More states opting out of extremist liberal plan

Washington Times ^ | April 11, 2012 | By Daniel McConchie and Mary Harned
The Department of Health and Human Services has set in motion the Obamacare abortion premium mandate, a provision that permits insurance plans that cover abortions to participate in state exchanges and requires all enrollees in those plans - even those with religious and moral objections to abortion - to pay a separate monthly premium to cover abortions. But many states are diligently passing laws to stop it. The administration’s health care law permits a state to opt out of allowing health insurance plans that cover abortions to participate in the new health insurance exchanges within that state and thereby prohibit...

Detroit - Remember “sticker shock”? After several years of heavily discounting their products in a desperate bid to keep assembly lines rolling, automakers are finding themselves back in the driver’s seat again – pushing prices to record levels. And it’s “not a blip,” warns one senior analyst, who expects the trend to continue for several years. The good news for shoppers is that trade-ins are also yielding better prices – and while that new car, truck or crossover may command more money than ever before it’s also likely to include significantly more features and markedly better fuel economy than
