WASHINGTON — Senior Iraqi officials have informed the United States that Baghdad has released a Hezbollah operative who has been accused by American military prosecutors of the killing of American troops, terrorism and espionage, among other crimes, American officials said Friday. The prisoner, Ali Musa Daqduq, was released despite the entreaties of the Obama administration. In a phone call on Tuesday, Vice President Joseph R. Biden told the Iraqi prime minister, Nuri Kamal al-Maliki, that the United States believed that Mr. Daqduq should be held accountable for his actions and that Iraq should explore all legal options toward this end,...

The appeals chamber at the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal in The Hague on Friday overturned guilty verdicts against Gotovina and fellow Croat general Mladen Markac in what is being called the most significant reversals in the court’s history. The two had been sentenced in 2011 to 24 and 18 years behind bars respectively for crimes against humanity and war crimes relating to a 1995 attack on Serbian civilians. The pair’s original conviction hinged on the tribunal’s acceptance of the existence of a plan led by the late Croatian President Franjo Tudjman to expel Serbs from Croatia. Three out of five...

Jill Kelley, the Florida housewife whose complaint over threatening emails revealed David Petraeus´ affair, has visited the White House three times in the past three months, it has emerged. In by far the most astonishing example of her determination to reach the top, the shrewd socialite and her twin sister, Natalie Khawam, were invited to two ´courtesy´ meals in the Executive Mansion mess hall as a guest of a White House aide, an Obama administration official has revealed. She met the mid-level aide through her work with MacDill Air Force Base near Tampa, where she also rubbed shoulders with the

Hurricane Sandy hadn't even touched down when liberals started blowing kisses to FEMA, or Federal Emergency Management Agency, the federal disaster relief agency. A New York Times editorial declared that the impending storm proved that the country needs FEMA-style "Big Government" solutions more than ever. Salon, New Republic and other liberal outfits heartily agreed. Why do liberals love FEMA so much? Certainly not for its glorious track record. Rather, FEMA has been a great vehicle for expanding the welfare state. FEMA's tragic missteps after Katrina earned it well-deserved disgrace. The Times blames those on the Bush administration, whose anti-government philosophy...

Most reporters haven’t been following Ambassador Susan Rice’s performance at the United Nations since her appointment in January 2009. To many journalists, Rice’s misleading interviews on the five Sunday Shows the weekend after the 9/11/12 terrorist attacks that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others were one of the first times they had heard from her. To veteran foreign policy observers, Rice’s shameful performance that Sunday was one of many blunders over the last four years. Rice’s refusal to answer questions about why she blamed the Benghazi violence on a YouTube video was met Wednesday with a feisty defense...

New Jersey Gov. In a conference call with donors Wednesday, Romney said that minorities and young people voted for Obama because he offered them “gifts.” Said Christie: “You have to...

That person would be Hillary Clinton's top aide, Huma Abedin. Huma: "Here. Try this idea.. How about a protest over a video on YouTube?" More than 10 years after the $1,000 bill disappeared from circulation 946,043 of them are still out there, somewhere. The whereabouts of almost $1-billion worth of the banknotes is a mystery rekindled this month at Quebec’s corruption probe when a witness spoke of a safe over-stuffed with cash, including $1,000 notes, inside a political office. Retired on May 12, 2000, for being mostly used in criminal transactions, any $1,000 note deposited at a bank is destroyed, although the bills — nicknamed “pinkies” by gangsters because of the pinkish-purple ink — remain legal tender. Money-laundering experts believe most of the missing...

Will the GOP have to change its positions to appeal to certain groups of voters? Should the Republican Party abandon its strongly-held beliefs and its positions on political issues? There is only one path to success that lays before us: Persuasion, not retreat. Ex-CIA Director David Petraeus told lawmakers during private hearings Friday that he believed all along that the deadly attack on the US consulate in Libya was a terrorist strike, even though that wasn't how the Obama administration initially described it publicly. Petraeus told lawmakers that the CIA's draft talking points named specific terrorist groups. But Petraeus said some federal agency changed it to "extremists."

The life of Xitclalli "Chilli" Vasquez, 9, took a tragic turn in the summer of 2011 when a drunk driver's car collided head-on with the car the Fort Worth, Texas, girl was riding in, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down. Last week, on the day of convicted drunk driver Jeremy Solis's sentencing at Tarrant County Court, Vasquez had a chance to read him a letter she had written, a letter that brought Solis, the jury, and everyone present in the court room to tears, witnesses said. The four-page handwritten letter presented to the jury was titled "From One of...

Is the head of the New York Times a liar/ Friday, November 16, 2012 By William Donohue Mark Thompson, the former BBC chief and current president of the New York Times Company, has said all along that he knew nothing about a spiked BBC exposé on BBC child rapist Jimmy Savile. Most astounding of all, on October 13, he said, “During my time as director general of the BBC, I never heard any allegations” about Jimmy Savile. As I wrote on October 26, “If this is true, it makes him a rare find for the Times: everyone else had at...

Nov 16 (Reuters) - Iran is ready to sharply expand its uranium enrichment in an underground site after installing all the centrifuges it was built for, a U.N. nuclear report showed on Friday, a development likely to fuel Western alarm over Tehran's nuclear aims. The Islamic state has put in place nearly 2,800 centrifuges that the Fordow enrichment site, buried deep inside a mountain, was designed for and could soon double the number of them operating to almost 1,400, according to the confidential International Atomic Energy Agency report obtained by Reuters. Tehran has produced about 233 kg (512 pounds) of...

It seems interesting this CBS scoop comes shortly before both the current and former directors of the CIA will testify as to what they know about the terrorist attack on our consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi.  Why, it’s almost as if someone at the White House or State Department wanted to follow up on Barack Obama’s defense of Susan Rice during yesterday’s press conference and pre-empt any potential fallout from whatever Mike Morell and David Petraeus have to say today and tomorrow.Naah.  I’m sure this is just another in the series of amazing coincidences regarding timing of revelations over...

Former CIA Director David Petraeus gave closed door briefings to Congress today. After the hearing, Democrats and Republicans disputed whether Petraeus has been consistent in his testimony, and whether the CIA talking points on the attack were altered. "The original talking points prepared by the CIA were different than the final ones put out," Reb. King [said]. Originally, he said, they were "much more specific on al Qaeda involvement." Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Md., didn't agree with King's recollection of the Sept. 14 briefing. Ruppersberger told reporters after the hearing, "My recollection was ... [Petraeus said] it was the result of...

You voted for it, this is what you are going to live with and you have dragged the rest of the nation with you!For edification, Marxism is the political and economic theories of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, later developed as the basis for communism. In this social format, the takers win, the government and its cronies, those who control the masses win.Obama's America is heading toward economics, dictated from above, redistribution and allocation of wealth and resources according to the decisions of a committee of the elite with unified and tyrannical concepts, its members know better than anyone...

(Reuters) - Major banks have announced some 160,000 job cuts since early last year and with more layoffs to come as the industry restructures, many will leave the shrinking sector for good as redundancies outpace new hires by roughly two-to-one. A Reuters analysis of job cuts announced by 29 major banks showed the layoffs were much bigger in Europe than in Asia or the United States. That is a particular blow to Britain where the finance industry makes up roughly 10 percent of the economy. The tally of nearly 160,000 job cut plans, meanwhile, is likely to be a conservative...

Very good news on the Obamacare front as three more states seem likely to refuse to open a state-run "health insurance exchange," thus leaving it to the feds to operate the "exchange" in their state --Ohio, Indiana and probably Wisconsin.  They join Texas, Florida, Alaska, and probably Michigan, and among the big states, only Pennsylvania and New Jersey have yet to decide, and hopefully they will study the issue and follow the lead of these governors, as should Arizona's Jan Brewer, who is being urged by big insurance forces in her state to take the poison.  It looks like the...
