Philadelphia, PA — For most football fanatics, this is the time of year for watching the big conference championship games and wondering whether their favorite college team is going play in a major postseason bowl. Many of the players in these contests will be hoping to shine for the NFL scouts looking to recruit new talent. That's not the case this weekend. Few of the players I'll be watching on Saturday are likely to get a call from Jerry Maguire. They won't be hearing an agent shouting, "Show me the money!" In fact, all the players on the gridiron here...

A family oyster business recently shut down by the Obama administration’s demand that the public land on which it operates revert to a wilderness area is suing the federal government for what they say is an illegal taking of the property. “Our family business is not going to sit back and let the government steamroll our community, which has been incredibly supportive of us,” Drakes Bay Oyster Company said in a statement. "The Conservative Movement is capable of firing Boehner with just 16 votes," insists the right-wing American Majority Action group. HOWARD DEAN: The only problem is -- and this is initially going to seem like heresy from a progressive is -- the truth is everybody needs to pay more taxes, not just the rich. And it's a good start. But we're not going to get out of this deficit problem unless we raise taxes across the board, to go back to what Bill Clinton had and his taxes. And if we don't do that, the problem is the pressure is going to be on spending even more.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards has told the United States to "recount" the drones in its fleet as it insists that – despite US denials – it captured a small US unmanned spy plane over Gulf waters. "Its capture is not an issue the Americans can easily refute," Guards spokesman Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif was quoted as saying. "I advise the American commanders to recount their drones accurately," he said. The Guards on Tuesday claimed to have recently captured a ScanEagle drone, a low-cost, short-range unmanned aircraft made by Boeing that measures 1.4 metres (4.5 feet) long and with a wingspan of...

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Ever since the Reagan years, America has played a singularly important role in the global economy as its largest net borrower. Thanks to the shale energy revolution, that’s beginning to change. The implications for the dollar are profound. The U.S. is on track to become the world’s largest oil producer in eight years and the biggest producer of gas in five, according to the International Energy Agency, which projects energy self sufficiency in 25 years. Essentially give him what he wants with regard to tax hike, spending, etc. so that Republicans could not be labelled obstructionist. This is garbage! This strategy will mean that Obama will be able to put more in his Santa sack to give to his constituents. More will become dependents and more will love Obama. The Republicans should not "give" Obama anything. They need to fight for lower tax rates and reduced spending. If it means we go over the cliff so be it. The House must be ruled...

At issue is a backroom deal hatched by GM to fulfill the Obama administration’s demand for a quick bankruptcy, draining the automaker of nearly all of its cash on hand and leaving it in worse shape than it was when it collapsed in 2009.
