You didn't seriously buy into all this horse hockey about the Daily Caller's Neil Munro having violated some sacred rule about interrupting or, as the press would call it, "heckling" the President? Of course you didn't. But what may come as news to some is that for the White House press corps, interrupting and heckling the President is A-OK… provided, of course, it's not President Obama. Here's three videos that offer perspective on how the Reagan-Obama double-standard works. The first is the now oh-so horrifying Obama/Munro episode, seen here. The second ...with Diane Sawyer showing the same clip but something...
  • Choices: Milwaukee teachers could have saved city schools, themselves

MADISON — The dark fiscal clouds are starting to lighten in Wisconsin’s largest school District. But Milwaukee Public Schools‘ fiscal picture could be a lot brighter, had its teachers’ union chosen to open up its labor contract with MPS and agree to some salary concessions. Tweaking the deal could have saved scores of positions, opening up the opportunity for more teachers in the classroom, more programs to bolster the academic achievement of a school system that has seen its share of failure, and perhaps offering relief to Milwaukee taxpayers. Life is all about choices, and the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association...

Mubarak was moved out of prison to a military hospital Tuesday after the 84-year-old ousted leader suffered a stroke and his condition rapidly deteriorated, officials said, adding a new element of uncertainty just as a potentially explosive fight opened over who will succeed him, with both candidates claiming to have won last weekend's presidential election. The developments add further layers to what is threatening to become a new chapter of unrest and political power struggles in Egypt, 16 months after Mubarak was ousted by a popular uprising demanding democracy. The campaign of Mubarak's former prime minister, Ahmed Shafiq, said Tuesday...

Authorities say a Texas father who beat to death a man who tried molesting his 4-year-old daughter will not be charged. Officials said the grand jury met Tuesday and declined to return an indictment against the father in the death of 47-year-old Jesus Mora Flores. The attack happened on the family's ranch between the farming towns of Shiner and Yoakum. Investigators said the 23-year-old father ran toward his daughter's screams, pulled Flores off his child and beat him with his hands.

Germany and France are doubling up on a high-risk gamble. The tentative deal at the G20 summit to mobilise the EU's rescue machinery to douse the raging fire in Spain and Italy comes in the nick of time, but is fraught with fresh dangers. Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Francois Hollande have to do something. The market reaction to Spain's €100bn EMU rescue for its banks has been calamitous. Monday's explosive rise in Spanish two-year bond yields was a warning that Spain's crisis would spiral out of control within days, taking Italy with it. Yet the deal explored over ceviche...

Mitt Romney will beat President Obama in this fall's election, most likely by a substantial margin. There. I said it. I may have a plate full of hat in my future, but I doubt it. Pundits will give you the usual reasons for a Romney victory, but it all boils down to two things: first, Romney took the time to build an organization and second, and most important, he wants to win. Tea Party patriots and constitutional conservatives would be smart to learn a lesson from this. While many conservatives were swooning over the latest firebrand candidate to carry their...

Last week’s disappointing unemployment report has refocused attention on the question of why, despite modest signs of economic recovery in recent months, American companies aren’t hiring. Indeed, some of the most puzzling stories to come out of the Great Recession are the many claims by employers that they cannot find qualified applicants to fill their jobs, despite the millions of unemployed who are seeking work. Beyond the anecdotes themselves is survey evidence, most recently from Manpower, which finds roughly half of employers reporting trouble filling their vacancies. The first thing that makes me wonder about the supposed “skill gap” is...

A Florida judge is taking up a national complaint. The so-called "birthers" are suing to get President Barack Obama's name off the November ballot in Florida. The Supreme Court has ruled that the government must fully reimburse Native American tribes for millions of dollars they spent on federal programs. The federal government had agreed to fully reimburse money tribes spent on programs like law enforcement, environmental protection and agricultural assistance, but Congress capped the amount of money earmarked for that reimbursement. The tribes sued, and the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver said the money must be fully reimbursed.

Kerry slams ‘disgraceful’ climate denial By Ben Geman - 06/19/12 12:29 PM ET Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) on Tuesday said there’s a “calculated campaign of disinformation” on climate change that has stalled action on the issue and endangered the country. “We are living through a story of disgraceful denial, back-pedaling and delay that has brought us perilously close to a climate change catastrophe,” Kerry said. The Massachusetts senator’s lengthy floor speech called for the public to be “pounding on the doors of Congress” to act, and cataloged global perils such as drought, floods, wildfires, threatened coastlines, disease risks and more,...

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- A 19-year-old home-invasion suspect who escaped while being released from the hospital Sunday was captured early today, still wearing his handcuffs and hospital gown. Deandre Miles, shot in the chest in Pinson Friday, was captured about 1 a.m., but not without incident. Authorities said when his mother brought him to meet with lawmen, he tried to push her out of the car, and then run over two deputies. He was subdued, and now is in the county jail. Jefferson County sheriff's Chief Deputy Randy Christian said deputies and U.S. Marshals met with Miles' mother about midnight Sunday,...

As I wrote yesterday, the media loves being lied to by Barack Obama. As we all know, the furor over a sitting President caught telling 38 falsehoods in his self-penned biography would be unquenchable were we talking about a president with an R after his name. Not to mention the lies Obama told the media about his relationship with Bill Ayers and his membership in the socialist New Party. But as you'll see in the clip below, Obama biographer David Maraniss, who found no less than 38 falsehoods in Obama's bio, is determined to downplay Obama's lying:
  • BBC’s ‘Episodes’ has the ultimate Hebrew mistranslation

This photo is a screenshot of the British show “Episodes,” from an episode that aired a few weeks ago in the UK. Most people would assume that the engraved Hebrew translates the English (“Beloved husband and father, dearly missed”), however, Hebrew speaker will notice that it’s not exactly readable Hebrew. Well it is, however, the entire Hebrew portion is written backwards (kind of like if it was “sdrawkcab nettirw”). The post has gone viral in Israel and is probably an automated translation service errors. Also, for some reason Google Translate changes Dearly Missed to החמיץ ביוקר, which kinda means “pickled...

While Mayor Michael Bloomberg has yet to publicly endorse a presidential candidate, he's reportedly shared some of his thoughts with a select group of partygoers. The New York Times says the mayor was making conversation at a charity event, saying he believes former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney would probably do a better job running the country than President Barack Obama. However, the mayor also said he could not throw his support behind the Republican because he disagrees with him on several social issues, specifically abortion rights and gun control. One guest tells the Times that because of those disagreements, the...

Exclusive new photos show John Edwards and his loony lover, Rielle Hunter, spending a long weekend at his beach house, hugging, flirting and playing in the sand with their love child. Hunter laments in her new tell-all, “What Really Happened: John Edwards, our Daughter and Me,” that her relationship with the former presidential candidate is confusing and complicated. “I really have no idea what will happen with us. The jury is still out. I can honestly say that the ending is of no concern to me anymore. The love is here. And as sappy as it may sound, I love...

LOS CABOS, Mexico -- The White House urged reporters not to read too much into Vladimir Putin's body language during his public statement after meeting Monday with President Obama, repeatedly stressing that the Russian president is always "businesslike." "This isn't the first body language-gate we've had with the Russians," deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes said at an afternoon press briefing here, noting that there were reports of a tense discussion between Obama and Putin's predecessor, Dmitry Medvedev, though it's widely acknowledged that the two became friends over the course of about 10 meetings in the past three years. Putin...
