  • Black Gun Buying Frenzy [Vanity]

    12/18/2012 7:56:40 PM PST · by AdamBomb · 48 replies
I went to a gun shop this evening in the "South". This is a well-known gun shop but it's in the middle of freakin nowhere. Drove an hour to get there. I went there tonight because, yesterday morning, I bought a "piece" over the phone so they had it locked up in the back for me. So I had to pick it up tonight. But the real story was I couldn't believe how many people were in there. There were at least 150 people in there. All the parking spaces in the lot were full. Black guns were flying off...

DEVELOPING: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has accepted 29 suggestions to improve embassy security issued as part of a review board's report that faults Clinton's department for security failures and confirms no protest preceded the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The release of the report, posted Tuesday night on the State Department's website, comes after more than three months of intense debate in Washington over who was behind the attack, what motivated the attacks and why U.S. authorities weren't able to stop the violence,... ~snip~ Although the motive for the attack remains unclear, the report confirms...

BRIDGEWATER — A Raritan man who lost his job as a Bridgewater Commons mall security guard after asking a Muslim woman to remove her traditional head scarf has filed suit alleging discrimination and wrongful termination. Marc Krause, of Raritan Borough, filed a legal complaint in Somerville against IPC International Corporation, a security vendor, and General Growth Properties, owner of Bridgewater Commons. The complaint was filed on Dec. 10 by attorney Brian Cige in New Jersey Superior Court in Somerville. Krause had worked at the mall since April 2001 while it was still owned by Rouse Company, and remained employed in...

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has accepted all 29 recommendations in a report into a deadly attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The report found that systemic failures at the state department led to insufficient security at the consulate. But it found no individual official ignored their duties, and the review has not suggested disciplinary action. The 11 September attack saw Ambassador Christopher Stevens, as well as three other Americans, killed.

Maryam Zohny erases message following advocacy group’s letter of complaint JTA — A photo and text calling an Israeli soldier a “terrorist” and “killer” were removed from the Facebook page of a Columbia University program director. Maryam Zohny, program director of the university’s Center for Palestine Studies, removed the post from her personal Facebook wall after the Anti-Defamation League sent a letter to Columbia University President Lee Bollinger expressing concern about the post. The post that Zohny shared on Dec. 13 read: “Israeli terrorist ‘Nofar Mizrahi’/Killer of the Martyr Muhamad Salayme/Wanted by the Resistance.” The post, which has been circulating...

WASHINGTON — An independent inquiry into the attack on the United States diplomatic mission in Libya that killed four Americans on Sept. 11 sharply criticizes the State Department for a lack of seasoned security personnel and relying on untested local militias to safeguard the compound, Congressional and State Department officials said Tuesday night. The investigation into the attacks on the diplomatic mission and C.I.A. annex that killed Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others also faulted State Department officials in Washington for ignoring requests from officials at the American Embassy in Tripoli for more guards and safety upgrades to the...

A photo depicting what appears to be the Teamsters Union flag improperly flying above the American flag outside the union’s D.C. headquarters on Tuesday was sent to TheBlaze, and the story of how a Marine veteran who tried to bring it to the group’s attention was treated is sure to raise eyebrows. The photo was taken by the Marine at approximately 2:10 pm ET and sent to TheBlaze by his brother. Both have requested anonymity for fear of retaliation by the union. This is the picture:
  • Chris Matthews: 'Outlaw' Semi-Automatic Guns

    12/18/2012 6:39:26 PM PST · by chessplayer · 42 replies
I'm in New England this week, and this afternoon caught Ann Coulter on the Howie Carr show. She spoke of the amazing ignorance of liberals when it comes to firearms. Just a couple of hours later, Chris Matthews provided a perfect case in point. On this evening's Hardball, speaking with Illinois Dem Senator Dick Durbin, Matthews proposed that Congress "outlaw" semi-automatic weapons. Does he not realize that doing so would render illegal virtually every hunting rifle in production? View the video after the jump. In all seriousness, did Matthews not understand the implications of what he was saying, or was...

The Fight for Aleppo: In Syria’s largest city, a sustained and pitched battle between rebels and the Syrian army has left the city in ruins. ALEPPO, Syria — Inside the classrooms where they once studied, the boys darted like a pack. Their banging and clanking could be heard for a city block. The playground outside had been hit by a Syrian Air Force airstrike, which fractured the school’s walls. Now the children were smashing the furniture, prying off wooden desktops and bench seats, rushing away with what they could. The Isam al-Nadri School for Boys was being dismantled for the...

TOKYO THE first grade class at the elementary school in Nanmoku, about 85 miles from Tokyo, has just a single student this year. The local school system that five decades ago taught 1,250 elementary school children is now educating just 37. Many of the town’s elegant wooden homes are abandoned. Where generations of cedar loggers, sweet potato farmers and factory workers once made their lives, monkeys now reside. The only sounds at night are the cries of deer and the wail of an occasional ambulance. Nanmoku’s plight is Japan’s fate. Faced with an aging society, a depopulating countryside and economic...

IN 1994, shortly after Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the first president of all South Africans, one of the local newspapers ran an interview with him under a huge, boldface headline: “MANDELA: I’M NOT ‘MESSIAH.’ ” That this would be considered banner news testified to the degree of myth and the unreality of expectations that attended the man. Mandela is now 94 and hospitalized, recovering from gallstone surgery and a lung infection, the latest echo of the tuberculosis he suffered during his years in the dusty contagion of prison on Robben Island. He may linger in the hospital, or he...

The hard-left gun abolitionists are feeling their oats lately. Buoyed by the president's reelection and his hinting strongly that he will pursue gun control legislation in the wake of the Newtown mass murder, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas offered yesterday "Some thoughts on the coming gun debate" which essentially boiled down to a call to make illegal a broad array of guns that are right now perfectly legal and used daily by law-abiding Americans to protect their homes: rifles and handguns that are semiautomatics with detachable magazines. "[I]f I were the benevolent dictator of this country, I'd simply outlaw guns...

When Monday morning came — the first day back after a gunman killed 20 first-graders in Connecticut — Texas school teacher Kelly Froemming found herself looking at her classroom for its prospects as a bunker. There was perhaps enough room for kids to hide under her desk and under a table. Her classroom door can be locked from the inside and she has an oversized filing cabinet that she could use as an additional barricade. "We do have intruder drills," said Froemming, who teaches gifted students at a grade school in Plano, Texas. The mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary...

Five health workers, four of them women, were killed in three different locations in the port city of Karachi while another female health worked was gunned down in the suburbs of Peshawar on Tuesday.

Republicans need to "have a discussion on guns" in the wake of last week's grade-school massacre in Newtown, Conn., Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told his conference Tuesday. Speaking to his troops at a closed-door meeting in the Capitol, Boehner was mindful of conservatives' traditional opposition to new gun restrictions, emphasizing that Republicans wouldn't do "anything knee-jerk," according to a lawmaker in the room. But the Speaker also said he wants to "de-politicize" the issue of gun violence, which has been thrust dreadfully into the national spotlight following the murder of 26 people — 20 of them young school children —...
