Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter and California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa sent a joint letter on Tuesday demanding emails from the private accounts an Environmental Protection Agency official who the lawmakers say may be trying to sidestep federal transparency laws. The official is EPA Region 8 Administrator James Martin. “This administration took office promising to be the ‘most transparent’ in history, but repeated actions have undermined this ambitious goal,” said Issa. “Investigations have revealed widespread disregard for transparency and record-keeping laws in multiple agencies and even in the White House.”

  • N. Korea likely to test fusion-boosted fission bomb able to reach U.S.

North Korea's next nuclear test could enable it to use a smaller, more sophisticated bomb mounted on a long-range ballistic missile to strike the U.S. mainland, Japanese government sources said. Pyongyang will likely experiment with a fusion-boosted fission bomb in a "high-level" nuclear test it said would target the United States, according to the sources. A fusion-boosted fission bomb induces nuclear fusion with slight nuclear fission, enabling more efficient nuclear fission. A fusion-boosted fission bomb can therefore be made about one-fourth the size of an ordinary nuclear bomb. Either uranium or plutonium can be used to develop the bomb. North...

Pro-abortion activists have destroyed a memorial of crosses set up in a field to remember the 55 million unborn children who have been killed in abortions since Roe v. Wade in 1973. On Saturday, January 26th, the Rachel’s Park Memorial, was desecrated, according to an email from Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas of Elijah Ministries to LifeNews. Thomas, who is the founder and director of the memorial, said a report was filed with the Waco Police Department at 11:09 am, by an employee of a neighboring business. Rachel’s Park Memorial is located at 4720 N. 19th Street in Waco. The park...

Senate confirms Kerry for State in 94-3 vote By Julian Pecquet and Ramsey Cox - 01/29/13 04:32 PM ET The Senate approved one of its own to become President Obama's second secretary of State in a near-unanimous vote on Tuesday. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) sailed through the chamber in a 94-to-3 vote, with Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Texas Sens. Ted Cruz (R) and John Cornyn (R) casting the only “no” votes. Kerry's approval to replace Hillary Clinton was a foregone conclusion after Republicans urged Obama to nominate him in lieu of his ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice....

Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy’s controversial comments on “biblical” marriage last summer and the uproar that followed didn’t dampen the Atlanta company’s annual sales. The fast food giant, the nation’s second-largest chicken chain, ended 2012 with $4.6 billion in sales — up 14 percent from $4.1 billion a year earlier. The company also opened 96 news stores, four more than the year before. ***** Advocates of a boycott and business experts said numbers don’t show the full picture. The unseen damage, they said, was to the company’s reputation and, potentially, to its ability to grow in cities with large gay populations...

A Chinese company will take charge of sensitive military and battery technology following the Treasury Department’s decision on Tuesday to permit the sale of a U.S. company that was bankrolled with tax dollars to the Shanghai-based Wanxiang firm. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) approved the $256 million sale of A123 Systems’ operation, despite warnings from military insiders and lawmakers on Capitol Hill that the sale presents a danger to national security. A123 Systems, which went bankrupt despite the Obama administrations’ $249 million in green energy funding to produce advanced lithium ion batteries, controls 91 patents...

The Southern Baptist Convention expressed extreme disappointment Monday to news that the Boy Scouts of America will likely approve admission of professed homosexuals as scout leaders, with officials close to the SBC predicting a mass exodus out of Scouting by Baptist churches. A vote on the matter by BSA is planned during an executive meeting in Irving, Texas, the first week of February. "This is a catastrophic decision for the Boy Scouts of America. In order to placate their East and West Coast appendages, they are tearing out the heart of their Midwest and Southern support. This decision will lead...

A press release from gun-rights group Rocky Mountain Gun Owners announces that last night it gave a firearms class to 300 teachers in Colorado. There was no cost for admission. "Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, Colorado's largest grassroots gun rights organization, provided a free firearms training course for 300 Colorado teachers," the group says. "The 300 men and women braved snow and inclement weather to attend the four hour course focusing on firearms safety and handling, and Colorado gun laws." In a statement, the executive director of the group, Dudley Brown, says, "Colorado teachers have been beating down our doors to...

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Tuesday declined to voice support for Democratic legislation that would ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips. Reid said he would bring gun-violence legislation to the floor and open it to a lengthy amendment process. But he declined to endorse the assault weapons ban introduced last week by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), which has the support of the 2nd- and 3rd-ranking Senate Democratic leaders. “She’s talked to me about her assault weapons. The new one. She believes in it fervently and I admire her for that. I’ll take a look at that,” he...
  • 4.7% Mexican Unemployment: uided sympathy for illegals harming Mexico, costing American jobs

Mexico’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.7% of the working age population in September 2012, according to the Financial Times, October 19, 2012. Yet misguided sympathy is causing the loss of U.S. jobs. The emotional appeal that illegal aliens would suffer if sent home is the central driving force of the illegal immigration debate. Make no mistake: Illegal aliens will go home. The only question is whether they will go home only after the United States Government has gone bankrupt, the economy has collapsed, and there are no more jobs or whether the U.S. will come to its senses. In fact,...

Protesters and police have clashed several times in recent days, leading to over 40 deaths and several hundred injuries. The demonstrations were sparked by a court’s decision to hand down death penalties to 21 people convicted of sparking a stampede ...

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tells Newsmax that Republicans need to be the “party of ideas,” offering real solutions instead of playing “bumper sticker politics.” Gingrich also says the GOP’s stance on immigration during the presidential campaign was “devastatingly destructive,” but he’s hopeful that reform can be implemented thanks to Sen. Marco Rubio’s “very important leadership” on the immigration issue. … In an exclusive interview with Newsmax TV, Gingrich discloses how he reacted to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s recent pronouncement that the GOP should “stop being the stupid party.” “I broke out laughing because when I was first running for...

The White House provides summaries of four key principles that President Obama wants included in comprehensive immigration reform: ~~SNIP~~ • Streamlining Legal Immigration: Our immigration system should reward anyone who is willing to work hard and play by the rules. For the sake of our economy and our security, legal immigration should be simple and efficient. The President’s proposal attracts the best minds to America by providing visas to foreign entrepreneurs looking to start businesses here and helping the most promising foreign graduate students in science and math stay in this country after graduation, rather than take their skills to...
  • Arrest numbers signal 9 percent jump in illegal immigration in 2012 [Obama says border "fortified"]

Even as President Obama travels to Las Vegas Tuesday to call for legalizing illegal immigrants, the latest numbers from the U.S. Border Patrol suggest that the flow across the nation’s southwest border jumped by 9 percent up last year. The Border Patrol made 356,873 arrests along the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal year 2012, up from 327,577 in 2011, according to figures obtained by the Associated Press and confirmed by The Washington Times. Border Patrol officials estimate that apprehensions are a good proxy for illegal crossings, so when the numbers go up, it means that the flow of illegal immigrants is...

Dear Friends, I have been in contact with Senator McCain regarding the now released immigration reform ideas presented by his working group of Senators. I am pleased that there is expressed recognition of what we have been saying in Arizona: immigration reform will not succeed unless and until we have achieved effective border security. If this occurs, it would be a triumph for the rule of law and a testament to the united voices of Americans from across our country who have been clear in their call for the federal government to uphold its duty to secure the border. Our...

BALTIMORE — A brave Staten Island GI, who underwent a stunning double-arm transplant, beamed with optimism today as he showed off his new limbs. In an amazing scene of triumph over tragedy, 26-year-old Brendan Marrocco pushed his own wheelchair into a room at Johns Hopkins Hospital and told reporters he has a new lease on life. “It’s a life changing thing,” said the smiling Marrocco. “It feels amazing. It’s something I was waiting for for a long time.” Marrocco received the rare transplant on Dec. 18. For now, Marrocco can’t use his new hands because it’ll take months for nerves...

Automobile manufacturers and the oil industry on Tuesday released the results of laboratory tests showing that gasoline containing 15 percent ethanol caused fuel pumps and parts to fail, raising the specter of faulty check engine light readings and more frequent breakdowns for cars that use the blend. The American Petroleum Institute cast the report by the non-profit Coordinating Research Council as fresh evidence that the Environmental Protection Agency should rescind its 2010 decision to approve the sale of the so-called “E15″ blend for 2001 and newer automobiles. A previous study by the Coordinating Research Council, which counts API as a...

There is no war on terror for the Obama White House, but there is one on Fox News. In a recent interview with The New Republic, President Obama was back to his grousing about the one television news outlet in America that won’t fall in line and treat him as emperor. Discussing breaking Washington's partisan gridlock, the president told TNR,"If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News...for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you’ll see more of them doing it." Alas, the president loves to whine about the media meanies at...
