No sooner did President Barack Obama and a group of senators separately outline proposals to revamp the nation’s immigration system than the phone lines on several African-American-oriented talk radio shows heated up with callers blasting the plans. “Amnesty,” complained Frankie from Maryland recently on the nationally syndicated “Keeping it Real with Al Sharpton.” A political payback to Hispanic voters that does little or nothing for African-Americans, reasoned Sam from Milwaukee on Wisconsin’s 1290 WMCS AM’s “Earl Ingram Show.” SNIP Still, Ingram says many of his listeners see Obama’s attempt to push forward on immigration as a reminder of what the...

Virginia - -(Ammoland.com)- The House of Delegates advanced Senate Bill 1335 today and the bill will be on the calendar for a final vote tomorrow, Tuesday, February 12 2013. NRA sent a legislative alert last Friday asking members to contact their Delegates and ask them to support this important legislation. Norman Vincent Peale, author of "The Power of Positive Thinking," once wrote these words: “Change your thoughts, and you change your world.” His statement is highlighted at the beginning of my new book, "How to Choose a Husband and Make Peace with Marriage." Its premise is that if women want to be successful in love, they should reject the cultural script they’ve been sold and adopt a whole new view of men and marriage. As products of divorce, the modern generation has few role models for lasting love. That alone is a problem. But young women have an added burden:...

Apple CEO Tim Cook will sit with First Lady Michelle Obama during President Obama's State of the Union address on Tuesday night. It marks the second year in a row the invitation has been extended to the Apple family. Last year, Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, joined Michelle Obama in the coveted spot. During an appearance on CNBC, White House economic advisor Gene Sperling confirmed Cook's participation. Accumulated gun violence in America produces "a Sandy Hook-plus" of deaths every day, Vice President Biden said Monday following a meeting with regional law enforcement and elected officials in Philadelphia. He was referring to the 26 children and teachers killed in the shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Monday´s breaking news about a fatal shooting at a courthouse in Wilmington in Biden´s home state of Delaware only underscored "the urgency" of the need for "common sense" restrictions on gun sales, he said. The vice president said there is "zero conflict" between White House proposals

SAN BERNARDINO (KTLA) — Police evacuated an apartment complex in San Bernardino early Sunday after a report that fugitive Christopher Dorner was hiding there. Tenants awoke to a swarm of armed cops circling Eureka Manor in San Bernardino. It all happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday at 1525 E. Eureka Street. The raid was captured on cell phone video obtained exclusively by KTLA. SWAT officers stormed a corner apartment as helicopters flew overhead. As a precaution, police ordered residents out through back windows. The Dorner sighting turned out to be a false alarm — prompted by an apparent prank call....

There are myriad reasons for conservatives to oppose Jack Lew’s nomination for Treasury Secretary. The fact that Lew recently held a substantial, and entirely legal, investment based in the Cayman Islands is not one of them. But shouldn’t liberals be livid? Last year, the Obama campaign and its surrogates furiously accused Mitt Romney of “betting against America” through his financial portfolio, which included foreign holdings — including some in the Cayman Islands. This ad painting the Republican nominee as an unpatriotic hypocrite was memorably unsparing in its demagoguery:

Convicted Felons for Gun Control Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, who was convicted of trying to sell Barack Obama's Senate seat, advocated a ban on all semiautomatic firearms along with a prohibitive gun owner registration fee. Blagojevich also promoted a ban on so-called "pocket rockets," or easily concealable high-caliber handguns. With regard to the latter, many states' concealed carry laws require the firearm to remain exactly that: concealed. Even if it is not illegal to expose or "flash" the weapon, it is generally poor judgment to advertise the fact that you have a weapon. When one deals with liars like...

The Affordable Care Act is looking less and less affordable. Start with the IRS’s new estimate for what the cheapest family plan will cost by 2016: $20,000 a year to cover two adults and three kids. And that will only cover 60 percent of medical bills, so add hefty out-of-pocket costs, too. The next surprise is for parents who thought their kids would be covered by an employer. Sloppy wording in the law left that unclear until last week, when the IRS ruled that kids won’t be covered. Starting in 2014, the law will require employers with 50 or more...

On Feb. 28, Pope Benedict XVI will become the first pope to resign in almost 600 years. That’s not just tradition — it’s dogma. The Washington Post’s Debbi Wilgoren cited a theological expert in explaining, “Most modern popes have felt that resignation is unacceptable except in cases of an incurable or debilitating disease — that paternity, in the words of Paul IV, cannot be resigned.” But Benedict XVI’s resignation is even more curious when compared to the handful of others who have left the powerful office willingly. In the past 1000 years, only four other popes have resigned. Here are...

Could there be a better illustration of the cultural divide over firearms than the White House photograph of our skeet-shooting president? Clay pigeons are launched into the air, but the president's smoking shotgun is level with the ground. This is not a man who is comfortable around guns. And that goes a long way toward explaining his gun-control agenda. Lack of informed presidential leadership aside, there is a gulf between those Americans who view guns as invaluable tools for self-defense, both against private wrongdoers and a potentially tyrannical government, and those who regard that concept as hopelessly archaic and even...

It was the second such incident in Punjab's Kasur District within about two weeks, according to LEAD investigators. On January 25 a 15-year-old Christian girl, Fouzia Bibi, was raped by two influential Muslim men in the district's village of Roday

This was a no-brainer from the start of the debate over the Obamacare bill but Democrats refused to listen and the consequences are going to be awful. From LA Times: As the state moves to expand healthcare coverage to millions of Californians under President Obama's healthcare law, it faces a major obstacle: There aren't enough doctors to treat a crush of newly insured patients. Some lawmakers want to fill the gap by redefining who can provide healthcare. They are working on proposals that would allow physician assistants to treat more patients and nurse practitioners to set up independent practices. Pharmacists...

The Swedish Public Employment Service is in the initial phases of opening an office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to prepare Somali Muslims immigrating to Sweden in advance of their arrival, reports Swedish Radio news. That’s right, prepare the Somali parasites on how to avail themselves of Sweden’s overly generous welfare benefits for them and their large families which will increase substantially after they are settled into public housing funded by Swedish taxpayers

Pope Benedict was cheered by conservatives for trying to reaffirm traditional Catholic identity but liberals accused him of turning back the clock on reforms and hurting dialogue with Muslims, Jews and other Christians. The 85-year-old German-born pontiff announced on Monday he would step down at the end of the month because of the effects of old age meant he was unable to complete his ministry. It was a decision that stunned Church officials and Catholics around the world, but one that he had hinted at in the past.

This doesn’t mean it won’t be overlong, enervating, and instantly disposable like the last four were, just more peevish than usual. It’ll also be an occasion for O to “pivot to jobs” for the seventh or eighth time in his presidency, which I take it means 15-20 minutes about the middle class and the latest iteration of the Buffett Rule before he gets back to the stuff that really drives him, like banning assault weapons and creating an earned amnesty for illegals. Emboldened by electoral victory and convinced the GOP is unwilling to cut deals, Obama plans to use his...

In President Barack ObamaÂ’s Election Night and inaugural speeches, he made it clear there would be no centrist pivot in his second term. Forward, 51 percent of my fellow Americans, to a more egalitarian, tolerant, and communal future! The presidentÂ’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday will likely flesh out that vision as it applies to the federal budget, income inequality, and the environment. The era of Big and Getting Bigger Government is here to stay, heÂ’ll surely admit. Higher taxes on the rich and business will be presented as a small price to pay for an expanded safety...
