Sean McDermott took issue with how long two Patriots staffers were on the field during pregame warmups prior to Buffalo's home game against New England. The Bills' head coach, noticing two New England assistants still on the sideline after the majority of the Patriots had already gone into the locker room, personally escorted the lingering staffers off the field. One of the assistants McDermott spoke to was Brian Belichick, the son of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Brennan responded by talking up the alleged strength of pro-gay sentiments among sports fans: It sure should have changed, Ana, and if the National Football League wants to be viable and wants to retain its spot as the number one pro-league in our country well into this century, it has to accept this and it has to encourage this because those fans who are maybe in their sixties, seventies, eighties who maybe are a little bit more reluctant on this topic, well, they're not going to be around in 20 or 30 years.

IN EARLY AUGUST, I met with an NFL team that was interested in signing me as a free agent for the upcoming season. This was a big moment for me because, other than the love for my family, playing football again in the NFL is my dream. The team invited me to meet with their front office and members of their coaching staff because, even though I missed all of the 2018 season after suffering a shoulder injury in 2017, I feel the organization believes I have the skills and character to contribute to their success. What they know about...

DANIEL JONES?!?!?!? While it’s a toss-up between the Giants and the Raiders for who made the most head-scratching selection of the first night of the NFL draft, there’s no doubt that Giants fans were more upset that their team took Duke quarterback Daniel Jones than Oakland fans were that they reached for Clemson pass-rusher Clelin Ferrell. The Giants are in desperate need of a quarterback to succeed Eli Manning and were lucky to be picking sixth behind a bunch of teams that already sorted out their QB situations. They also need help on defense and held a second first-round pick...

The NFL – suffering from dismal ratings for last week’s opening game and Sunday Night Football, may be in for a serious decline in viewers this season if Dallas local TV ratings are any indicator – after the Cowboys registered their lowest local ratings since 2009. "The Dallas market is an important market for one of the most watched teams in the country. There is a reason the Cowboys are valued at over $4 billion dollars. They absolutely own Dallas Fort-Worth. Nothing else really matters. … The NFL does not want to see one of it’s most important market losing...

With Browns games a noted exception, NFL preseason ratings took a hit this year. NFL preseason games averaged 2.35 million viewers across NBC, CBS, FOX, ESPN and NFL Network, down 9% from last year (2.57M), but up 4% from 2016, when several games aired opposite the Summer Olympics (2.27M)... Outside of the Browns, preseason viewership largely declined. Of the 14 non-Browns games that can be compared to last year, only three* posted an increase in viewership. With Browns games excluded, preseason viewership fell 18 percent from last year (2.85M to 2.32M) — double the overall decline.
