Clerical, technical and health workers at the University of Minnesota went on strike Wednesday. Contract talks broke between the union and the university as of 11:00 a.m. Tuesday evening. The union represents about 3,500 workers which is approximately 17 percent of the statewide University of Minnesota employees. Officials at the University said the second day of fall classes will go ahead as planned. The union chose to delay the strike date from Tuesday to Wednesday because had they struck on Tuesday they would have lost their Labor Day pay. Phyllis Walker, president of the American Federation of State, County and...

Only Sgt Hutchin's is in Jail. 8 Men, all charged with Murder, Kidnapping, Assault, whatever...now one is left in jail, the rest are free. That doesn't happen if they had evidence.

I saw no announcement here of this very important day. With three days to prepare, I hope most people will still have time to do their peace shopping and prepare celebrations.

Dear Editor: I read with interest the remarks by Scarsdale’s Deputy Superintendent of Public Works, Neil Blitz, in the Scarsdale Inquirer's September 1st front-page story entitled "Don't Touch Any Trees in the Right of Way". According to Mr. Blitz, "Nobody is supposed to do anything in the right of way. Homeowners are absolutely not allowed to prune or remove trees in the right of way - although they are required to maintain the lawn...." In Mr. Blitz’s novel interpretation of the law, homeowners in Scarsdale, New York have absolutely no property rights whatsoever in the 13 feet of their front...

Shootings tarnishing New Orleans' image By MARY FOSTER, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 18 minutes ago NEW ORLEANS - Breakfasting on beignets in the French Quarter on a Sunday morning, Dorothy Washington was a tourism official's dream — she saw none of the scars that still mark most of New Orleans 11 months after Hurricane Katrina and she had heard nothing about six weekend shooting deaths. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060730/ap_on_re_us/new_orleans_shootings

Once again the criminally corrupt RAT party proves what it is and what it does - registering dead voters, felons, drug addicts (Dems have be caught repeatedly offering drugs, ciggarettes, etc for votes) and constantly try to lie and cheat their way into office any way they can. Mayor Daley is their template and that's just the beginning. Today's Democrats - Totally Corrupt, Totally Lame and Full of Excuses. http://www.washtimes.com/metro/20060724-111915-6219r.htm

It seems easy here in the United States to sit back and enjoy our Cable TV, cell phones, and ipods gleefully going along each day taking for granted the rights afforded to us by this country’s rule of law. Some may argue that the opportunities afforded citizens of the US has its’ many bias’s and not everyone overcomes the obstacles in front of them but as a famous radio talk show host says “Pick a Better Country”.

The Quisling Effect -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: June 23, 2006 1:00 a.m. Eastern By Hal Lindsey -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- © 2006 WorldNetDaily.com In April, 1940, Norwegian politician Vidkun J. Quisling became the first politician in history to use the radio airwaves to announce a coup d'etat, declaring the formation of an ad-hoc government during the confusion brought on by the Nazi invasion of Norway. Quisling hoped his action would result in Nazi recognition of Quisling as head of state. Instead, his treasonous action earned him a different kind of recognition. Today, the name "Quisling" stands beside that of Benedict Arnold as a synonym for...

Republican gubenatorial candidate Robin Jennison named a Johnson County senator as his running mate. The selection of Senator Dennis Wilson, R-Overland Park, gives the ticket some geographical balance. Jennison, a former House speaker, is from Healy in west-central Kansas.

The Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines apologized for disrespecting President Bush during a London concert in 2003--but not now. "I don't feel that way anymore," Maines tells Time magazine. "I don't feel he is owed any respect whatsoever." As war in Iraq loomed, Maines had said: "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas." That led to death threats and a backlash from other country stars, including Toby Keith. It also stalled what until then had been the group's smashingly successful career. With their new album, "Taking the Long Way," hitting stores today,...

Country radio nixes Dixie Chicks NASHVILLLE, Tenn., May 22 (UPI) -- It appears the war U.S. country radio stations mounted against the politically outspoken Dixie Chicks has not abated in the least. The band is promoting "Taking the Long Way," its first album since Natalie Maines told a London audience in 2003 she was ashamed to be from the same state as U.S. President George Bush. The comment sparked a radio boycott of the group's music. Although the album hits stores Tuesday, the first two singles from the album are not getting widespread airplay, Billboard.com reported Monday. The first single,...

Hope over spray AN ORDINARY handwash costing just £2.99 can kill the bird flu virus in 30 seconds, tests have found. No-Germs, a simple hand spray, has been on sale over the counter for two years. But when the H5N1 avian flu outbreak gathered pace among birds, No-Germs owners decided to test it against the virus. The results, revealed yesterday, were remarkable - the handwash was more tha 99.8 per cent efficient in killing H5N1. The discovery has been heralded as a "major breakthrough" - particularly if the virus ever mutates into a human form. Sean Campbell, managing director of...

Friends, There is much to be said and done about the manmade annihilation of New Orleans, caused NOT by a hurricane but by the very specific decisions made by the Bush administration in the past four and a half years. Do not listen to anyone who says we can discuss all this later. No, we can't. Our country is in an immediate state of vulnerability. More hurricanes, wars, and other disasters are on the way, and a lazy bunch of self-satisfied lunatics are still running the show. So, in the next few days, I will write to you about what...
