anuary 2, 2008 -- FRIDAY is judgment day for Nickelodeon when "Zoey 101" and its knocked-up teen star, Jamie Lynn Spears, return to the air. But even with Britney Spears' 16-year-old sister pregnant with her on-again, off-again boyfriend's baby - the network has no plans to yank "Zoey" from its schedule, nor are officials there expecting trouble....

Jessica Simpson snubs Bush Wed Mar 15, 2006 10:50 PM ET By Steve Gorman LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Concerned about politicizing her favorite charity, singer-actress Jessica Simpson on Wednesday turned down a invitation to meet with U.S. President George W. Bush, a snub that left Republicans dismayed. The apparent final word that Simpson would be a no-show at a major Republican fund-raiser with Bush and congressional leaders on Thursday night came after a day of conflicting reports from her camp and organizers of the event. The blond star of the film "The Dukes of Hazzard" still plans to visit Washington...

The final straw in the Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey separation may have been what took place in Florida just before the last NASCAR race of the season. Nick was in Miami to wave the starting flag at the Ford 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup, and reportedly spent some wild times with the boys that weekend. The Unhappy Couple People Magazine delivers the gossip: Lachey and fellow newly single pal A.J. DiScala hit Miami Beach nightclub Mansion at around 1 a.m. Saturday, unwittingly walking into a party hosted by Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and porn star Ron Jeremy. Once they realized they...

(Los Angeles--CA) MTV's newlyweds for eternity couldn't make it past the shelf life of the average Twinkie. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey revealed today, through their publicist Meredith O'Sullivan, that the breakup of their marriage was over Simpson's obsession with former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. "The rumors that the parting was over Jessica's romance with Bam Margera are not true. It was another Jackass, Saddam Hussein," said O'Sullivan at a press conference held at the Beverly Wilshire hotel with both Lachey and Simpson present. Apparently, Simpson had become fixated on Saddam Hussein as she put it "ever since he crawled...

Wednesday was Meth Awareness Day at the State Capitol, and just in time. Symptoms of methamphetamine use include a false sense of power, incessant talking and purposeless, repetitive behavior. Of course, those things in the Capitol only prove that the Legislature is in session. But whatever our lawmakers may be smoking, the warning signs are clear: They have begun neglecting their responsibilities and are having trouble setting priorities. This was a disgrace: While state officials were getting hip to crank yesterday, leaders of Minnesota's two largest religious faiths were two miles away, visiting the West Side of St. Paul in...

In a new video to be distributed to 61,000 schools across the nation, homosexual activists are using popular children's TV characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Barney the dinosaur to surreptitiously indoctrinate young children into their lifestyle, a pro-family activist group charges. SpongeBob Squarepants is one of the popular children's TV characters appearing in a new 'tolerance' video. Based on the 1970s hit song "We Are Family," the video will be distributed to public and private elementary schools nationwide March 11, along with lesson plans for teachers, points out the American Family Association. The distribution, sponsored by FedEx, will coincide...

JOE Simpson, the former Baptist minister turned manager of daughters Jessica and Ashlee, doesn't shy way from talking about his offspring's physical assets. You can't cover those suckers up!"

A Home for a Gay Channel By BILL CARTER Published: May 30, 2004 EXECUTIVES of MTV Networks seemed to be caught a bit off guard by the hostile reaction to their announcement last week that they intend to create the first cable entertainment channel devoted to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender viewers, called Logo. Religious groups, including the Traditional Values Coalition, denounced the idea as amounting to "moral anarchy" and promised to organize a boycott of companies that advertise on the channel. But the executives behind the project remain convinced that MTV Networks will be able to overcome any impediments....

If this totally kills my bandwidth, I'll have to pull it. But it seems that many others have maxed theirs and this should be seen by those who want to see it. Since you won't see it on the news, here it is. WARNING - This video shows a human being having his head cut from his body and is therefore extremely graphic and disturbing. Use common sense if it's available to you. A couple of quick observations: Berg doesn't seem to have any clue about what's coming. It appears possible that this was a staged taping with a surprise...

Friends of Nicholas Berg, the American who was beheaded by Islamic terrorists in Iraq, say that during the past year he had increased his devotion to religious Jewish observance and study. So reports the New York weekly, The Forward. Berg, 26, was a contractor from Philadelphia who went to Iraq to develop cellular infrastructures for his company. He was captured in early April by Iraqi Muslims as he was preparing to return to the United States. Family members learned of his death only a few days ago, and a grisly videotape of his beheading was posted yesterday on an internet...

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The elderly parents of parody musician "Weird Al" Yankovic have died of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning at their home outside San Diego, the county medical examiner's office said. Nick Yankovic, 86, and his 81-year-old wife, Mary, were discovered on Friday by family members at their Fallbrook, California, residence. It was unclear how long they had been dead. A fire was still burning in the fireplace and authorities said that the home had filled with toxic fumes because the chimney flue was closed. Their son, Al Yankovic, known as "Weird Al," could not immediately be reached for...

President Bush is facing increasing dissent among leading conservative politicians and pundits in the face of mounting U.S. casualties in Iraq. The war has become the long slog that some Republicans feared. Since Sunday, 32 Americans have been killed in fighting across Iraq. American body bags are on the front page of major U.S. newspapers. The Washington Post and The New York Times brandished images of charred U.S. civilian remains last week. The networks are leading their nightly news broadcasts with stories of dead Americans. "If we have two or three more weeks of this you are going to start...

In the last election, 18 million young people voted. What if that were 20 million? Who's swing voting now?" The same network that has given us "The Osbournes," "Punk'd," and "Total Request Live" also contributes to the seriousness of politics by delivering "Choose or Lose," the current MTV campaign to mobilize 20 million young voters in November. CBS is claiming it had no idea that a Super Bowl half-time dance routine between Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake would feature the pop diva going partially topless.
November 25, 2003 -- THE president of Show time had some strong words yesterday for the chairman of CBS about the ill-fated miniseries about Ronald and Nancy Reagan that was cancelled by CBS, then dumped on Showtime by their parent company, Viacom. "If [CBS Chairman Leslie Moonves] didn't know what movie he was getting, that's not the fault of the producers, the director or anyone associated with the film," said Robert Greenblatt, president of entertainment for Showtime Networks, in a telephone news conference yesterday with TV critics.

Two Sundays ago, CBS broadcast their grand 75th anniversary celebration. Audiences were reminded of the rich history of a network that has, until now, put artistic integrity and principled news above politics. From I Love Lucy to Murphy Brown in the entertainment arena and from Walter Cronkite to the impressive team behind 60 Minutes in news, we have come to depend on CBS for their high quality programming. As a wonderful recent letter to the New York Times reminded me, it was Edward R. Murrow of CBS who stood up to Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s, "a genuinely risky...

If Ronald Reagan were still in his prime, presidential 1980s form, he’d be saying to Hollywood: "There you go again." There are two kinds of films about presidents. There are documentaries which usually try to dwell in factual examination; and fictional movies which have a habit of wildly making things up to satisfy the demands of making either effective entertainment, or effective propaganda. Now CBS is preparing a dramatic and quite fictional miniseries for November titled "The Reagans." CBS promised reporters it would be "meticulously researched." Researched fiction, that is. The last Reagan-fictionalizing offender was Showtime, whose 2001 film on...

You might not think so from listening to me, but I like to be liked. Not only that, I like my country to be liked around the world and it isn't. I wish President Bush would try to make this country less hated. He could do it if he set his mind to it. To begin with, we should change our attitude toward the United Nations. There has to be some power in the world superior to our own - for our own sake. Iraq isn't our problem. It's the world's problem. When the president spoke at the United Nations,...

In a discussion related to comparing White House communications offices in Dem and GOP administrations, CBS News Chief White House correspondent Bill Plante said last week: "The media is mostly left-leaning. It is difficult to turn out graduates in majors relating to the media who are at the right of the political spectrum. So the media gets to be leaning to the liberal side. ...The Democratic party sees the media as their ally." Obviously he has not read the various temper tantrums thrown by the likes of Eric Alterman who insist the media is not liberal.

Skull And Bones Oct. 5, 2003 There are secrets that George W. Bush guards at least as carefully as any entrusted to a president. He's forbidden to share these secrets even with the vice president -- secrets he has held ever since his days as an undergraduate at Yale. In his senior year, Mr. Bush - like his father and his grandfather - belonged to Skull and Bones, an elite secret society that includes some of the most powerful men of the 20th century. All Bonesmen, as they're called, are forbidden to reveal what goes on in their inner sanctum,...

An elderly political activist, repeatedly portrayed by CBS News as a typical victim of the high cost of prescription drugs, now admits the network "probably" should have disclosed her lobbying interests. NEW YORK (AP) - Filmmaker Spike Lee and Viacom have settled a lawsuit Lee filed to keep the media giant from calling its TNN cable television network "Spike TV." Lee had obtained a temporary injunction in June, preventing the name change, but on Monday state Supreme Court Justice Walter Tolub lifted the order. The ruling means Viacom, which also owns CBS and MTV, can proceed immediately with plans to rebrand TNN as Spike TV, the "first television network for men." Viacom said it was renaming TNN "Spike TV" to attract more men to an audience already two-thirds male. Details on...

One person was badly hurt in the fracas, and it took cops from three different departments to restore order at the popular party spot in East Quogue.
