Gov. Bill Richardson is at risk of becoming the Rodney Dangerfield of the Democratic presidential field: "I don't get no respect," the comedian used to say. Richardson is obviously trying to use humor and affability to raise his profile in events like last night's nationally televised debate in New Hampshire. But the New Mexico gov sounded more whiny than funny when he asked at length, "What is wrong with having been like myself ... 14 years in Congress, two Cabinet positions..." and on and on, citing his own credentials. There was a good point there: Richardson introduced it by asking,...

I just caught the last 30 minutes or so of the Miss Universe pageant which was held in Mexico City. When I turned on the tv, they were down to ten girls including Mexico and USA. The girl from USA actually slipped and landed right on her butt, but made a nice save and finished well. When the judges announced which five would move to the next round, USA was announced and the crowd started booing loudly. I haven't seen the Miss Universe pageant in a long time, but I don't ever remember a crowd booing. I know that an...

True Story About 'Mrs. Macaca' October 19, 2006 To the Editor: We had an interesting experience at Clifton Day this year. Myself, my 11-year-old son and a friend were walking up the street in the big crowd when we encountered Mrs. George Allen and her entourage. A large proportion were skinheads. We are a very political family and we talk politics around the breakfast and dinner table on a daily basis. For some reason, Mrs. Allen introduced herself to my son, who has a sweet "howdy-doody" face with freckles. Here is the exchange: Mrs. Allen: "I am Mrs. George Allen."...

This from Our friends at Newsbuster.org NewsBusters reader Mr. Snuggles has pointed out something conspicuously absent from Google’s various pages today – any reference to Memorial Day.(For link:click here) I’m sure most Googlers are extremely aware of how Google will dress up its logo at its web search or news pages in honor of holidays or special occasions. Google has been known to do this on Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, etc. In fact, here is a display of all the Google holiday logos so far this year, and since 1999. You’ll even find that Google celebrated Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s...

He said Respect intended to try to win control of Tower Hamlets and Newham councils next May - and vowed if his twinning plan went through, the Palestinian flag would fly over the town hall. Hundreds turned up at the meeting in London to celebrate his general election victory over Labour's Oona King. Mr Galloway received...

It may have all started with James Carville’s infamous political phrase, “It’s the economy, stupid.” The phrase was not intended to insult the American public. Certainly, they were not stupid. It was the sitting president that was stupid, of course. In his presidency, he had won a war in the Middle East, chased the Iraqi army out of Kuwait, and generally enjoyed overwhelming approval ratings until America began to focus on the economy…because they were told it was bad, bad, bad. Lets see, was it a recession…..or was it a depression? Whatever. Of course, the economy in 1992 was not...

Forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong area, I am not new to FR but haven't posted much. A group of my friends are going on a golf trip. There are 12 golfers playing 4 rounds of golf as foursomes. I have been asked to come up with a schedule that has each golfer playing at least one round of golf with the other eleven golfers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
