  • How to turn Obamacare into FreeMarketcare in 4 steps

    1. Deregulate the state exchanges, while capping subsidies. 2. Slowly shift Medicare patients into the exchanges. 3. Let more people buy insurance on their own rather than through their employer. 4. Move Medicaid patients into the exchanges. The result would be a more coherent system where more Americans would be buying health insurance on their own from private insurers competing hard for their business.

I work in HR. We are being told by Blue-cross Blue-shield Insurance that dependents CANNOT be removed from the insured's policy until they turn 26, even if they get married (and have coverage under a spouse), take a job on their own (and have their own coverage), leave home (no longer living in a parent-child relationship), etc. etc. This includes a non-adopted step-child. They are saying it is ILLEGAL under Obamacare to remove that child from the insured's coverage. The parent's coverage would be primary and if they got another policy it would be secondary. Seems this make the parent...

Some good news today, as Michigan and Arizona have both made decisions that they will not be setting up a health care exchange under ObamaCare. In Arizona, Governor Jan Brewer declared yesterday that she will not direct the state government to set up an exchange. In Michigan, Governor Rick Snyder has been trying to set up an exchange, but Speaker of the House Jase Bolger has declared that he will not bring the bill to establish exchanges to the floor. 3,500 people have already sent messages urging Michigan's top state officials to stand against ObamaCare, and the Speaker is listening....

Dear Patient, Going into the coming year, I have made a difficult but necessary determination that I will no longer be a Medicare provider. This will go into effect as of January 1, 2013. My decision is directly related to the continuing Medicare cuts and cumbersome requirements that Medicare has put into place. Regretfully, it is no longer feasible for us to participate with Medicare.

Two weeks ago, I pointed out Section 1555, one of the major chinks in PPACA's armor according to an attorney at the Goldwater Institute. Section 1555 is in the law under "Subtitle G - Miscellaneous Provisions." Since bringing this up, I've heard from some who believe that this section is limited solely to those who sell ("issue") health insurance. Here again is Section 1555: "No individual, company, business, nonprofit entity, or health insurance issuer offering group or individual health insurance coverage shall be required to participate in any Federal health insurance program created under this Act (or any amendments made...

The blaming of governors for not implementing ObamaCare is in hyperdrive for a reason— the federal government and liberals backing ObamaCare overestimated the federal government's ability to build a system of the complexity and technological intricacy necessary to pull this off. They counted on states to do some heavy lifting (with a hefty price tag) to make this happen, yet have given them very little regulatory guidance and passed the bill in a way least likely to engender cooperation. The current rumpus is over ObamaCare’s “exchanges,” the bureaucracies that will regulate the design and sale of insurance and where 30...

The low information voter will be the death of America. New Gallup poll shows a majority of Americans now disagree with liberals that it is the government's responsibility to see that all Americans have health insurance: ***** For the first time in Gallup trends since 2000, a majority of Americans say it is not the federal government's responsibility to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage. Prior to 2009, a majority always felt the government should ensure healthcare coverage for all, though Americans' views have become more divided in recent years. The current results are based on Gallup's annual Health...

Pacific Legal Foundation, located in Sacramento, has filed a new lawsuit on the constitutionality of Obamacare that will be heard by the Supreme Court. Sacramento, CA; November 7, 2012: After this weeks election results, the costly, burdensome and intrusive Affordable Care Act (ACA) Obamacare is less likely than ever to be reformed, let alone repealed, by elected officials. But a promising, powerful legal challenge is still going forward litigated by attorneys with Pacific Legal Foundation, a watchdog organization that defends limited government, free enterprise, and individual rights, in courtrooms nationwide. Especially after the election of 2012, PLF...

...the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. Last June, in NFIB v.Sebelius, the Supreme Court gave the act a mixed bill of constitutional health. It upheld the individual mandate by saying that it was constitutional under Congresss taxing power. However,it also ruled that Congress could not compel the states to expand their Medicaid programs by threatening to cut off all Medicaid subsidies if they did not do so. Imposing onerous new requirements in a program that already represents such a large part of the states budgets that they cant afford to lose federal subsidies, the Court ruled, is unconstitutional....

MADISON, Wis. - Meriter Hospital said it's laying off about 50 employees. In a statement Tuesday, Meriter Health Systems said it will see a significant drop in Medicare reimbursements beginning in January and the layoffs are a result of a plan that realigns positions in preparation for the cuts in Medicare reimbursement. Meriter confirmed that 140 positions are being eliminated, but through attrition and reassignments, it only expects approximately 50 employees to lose their jobs. Of Meriter's 3,500 employees, fewer than 4 percent were directly affected, according to the statement. Meriter said this change impacted all levels in the organization...

Good morning everyone. Today I have prepared a remedial lesson for us on Obamacare. I just realized that we havent discussed Big Guys legacy legislation since well before the reelection. And I recall that many of you have some reservations concerning its efficacy. So now that it has been deemed the law of the land, I did a little additional research. As it turns out, Obamacare is not as bad as youve been led to believe. Its actually worse, much worse. The US Supreme Court on Monday set the stage for further litigation over the constitutionality of President Obamas health-care reform law. In a somewhat unusual maneuver, the high court agreed to send one of several cases challenging the Affordable Care Act (ACA) back to a federal appeals court to consider the underlying merits of the lawsuit including whether the measure violates religious freedom. In late June, the Supreme Court voted 5 to 4 to uphold the ACA as a valid exercise of Congresss taxing authority. The ruling forced the dismissal of a handful of other cases challenging the reform...

WASHINGTONStates will receive more than $9 in federal money for every $1 they spend to cover low-income residents under President Barack Obama's health care law, according to a nonpartisan analysis released Monday. Expanding Medicaid to cover about 20 million more low-income people will cost over $1 trillion nationally from 2013 to 2022, said the joint report from the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Urban Institute. But the analysis found that states will pay just $76 billion of that, a combined share of roughly 7 percent. The feds will pay the other $952 billion. Republican governors have resisted the Medicaid expansion,...

The Supreme Court today ordered a federal appeals court to take a new look at the controversial Obamacare law and whether it unconstitutionally forces taxpayers to fund abortions and contraception, violating religious freedoms. The high court ordered the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to consider the case of Liberty University, a Christian college that contends Obama’s health care law violates the school’s religious freedoms. A federal judge rejected the case and the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the lawsuit was premature but did not deal with the main points the lawsuit brought up.When the Supreme Court upheld the...
