Obama, daughters take trip for New Year's Day treat of shave ice named in his honor: Snowbama

KAILUA, Hawaii (AP) — President Barack Obama has taken his daughters for a Hawaiian treat of shave ice and ordered a flavor combination that is named for himself. Obama and a posse of about 20 people took a motorcade Friday to the same shave ice stand he has visited during other trips. As in past trips, he asked for a pile of ice shavings flavored with lemon-lime, cherry and passion-guava syrups. The store calls the combo the "Snowbama." Obama wore a white T-shirt, khaki shorts and sandals.

Obama, family spend time on North Shore ("will not rest" until air terror plotters caught)

President Barack Obama continued his low-key holiday vacation, spending several hours at the secluded North Shore home of a high school friend. The day-long outing yesterday to the Mokuleia beachfront home of Punahou School classmate Bobby Titcomb came on a dark day, as eight Americans and five Canadians were killed in a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. World events are likely to interrupt Obama's holiday vacation again today.

Hawaii drama as ambulance called for Obama friend

KAILUA, Hawaii — US President Barack Obama dramatically broke off a round of golf and rushed back to his rented vacation home followed by an ambulance with lights flashing. Fears that something might have happened to First Lady Michelle Obama or daughters Malia and Sasha were laid to rest later as it emerged that all the fuss was about the son of a friend of the president's with minor injuries. "The First Family is fine," White House spokesman Bill Burton said, following the drama which forced Obama to suddenly rush off the links and race home in the presidential motorcade....

Michelle Obama and Barack Obama Hawaii White House

Michelle Obama and Barack Obama are staying in an 8 million dollar house that costs $4000 a night for the holidays. The Hawaii White House is located on kailua beach on the island of Oahu. This is a special place for President Barack Obama because this is where his grandfather would bring him as a child. The beach is also very popular with Hawaii royalty. Just so you know there are many more affordable places to stay in the area. The Presidential beach house is 7000 square feet and is owned by Dave Zimmel of Paradise Point Real estate. The...

Nation Digest: First family's Christmas Day began with trip to the gym

"President Obama and his family celebrated Christmas in Hawaii on Friday, but with their own twists. The president and his wife, Michelle, started their day at 6:40 a.m. by going to the gym -- a feat unimaginable to most parents of young children eager to open presents on Christmas morning -- and returned more than an hour later. The first couple did not swap presents, aides said. And the Obamas did not attend church services, instead spending the day at the oceanfront home they are renting in Kailua, on the island of Oahu......."

President Barack Obama left the cold weather and bitter politics of Washington, D.C. behind Thursday as he and the first family arrived on Oahu for a ten day Christmas vacation.
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Now that the healthcare bill has passed both houses, president Obama and his family started their holiday vacation. The family left Andrews Air Force base this morning and they are expected to arrive at Hickam Air Force base this afternoon. But aides to the First Lady say Bo, the White House dog, is not accompanying the Obamas on their family vacation in Hawaii. The aides did not give a reason, but Hawaii has strict rules about dogs and pets entering the state and requires either a 120-day or 5-day-or-less rabies quarantine.
Obama, a Favorite Son, Will Perk Up Hawaii's Holidays (Mega Barf Puff Piece Alert)

Health Care reform allowing, President Barack Obama will leave behind the detritus of legislative guerrilla warfare and a blizzard that froze the nation's capital to head for vacation. He is going home to the place he was born: Hawaii. The state remains proud of its native son, no matter how many national debates he may spark. Nevertheless, Obama will be coming home to a state struggling with the sour taste of recession. Although a forecast this month by University of Hawaii economists predicted that the new year will bring improvement, unemployment hovers at 7% and, for the all-important tourist...

US President Barack Obama is getting "sports stuff" for Christmas. But the president, an avid golfer and basketball player, will have to wait until December 25 to find out exactly what it is. First lady Michelle Obama gave the hint on Tuesday during a trip to the Children's National Medical Centre. She visited privately with young patients in the heart and kidney unit, then came downstairs to the atrium to read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas to dozens more. Daughters Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8, helped their mother deliver that dose of holiday cheer, along with family dog Bo, who...

With the Senate moving the Thursday Christmas Eve vote on the health care bill from the evening to 8 a.m., the White House announced Tuesday night that the First Family will depart for Honolulu on Thursday morning. President Obama had told radio host Tom Joyner on Monday that he did not want to leave Washington before the health care vote. Obama, answering Joyner's question about the Hawaii trip, said, "You know, it depends on how soon the Senate can make that last vote on health care.

Obamas Won't Celebrate Christmas A survey of adult Americans finds that an overwhelming majority prefer the seasonal expression "Merry Christmas." More than seven out of ten, in fact. Twenty-two percent, according to Rasmussen Reports, go for "Happy Holidays." However, the Obamas, who won't spend their first December holidays in the White House, apparently don't like either one. The White House hasn't formally announced that President Barack Obama and his family will be celebrating Christmas in Hawaii — or anywhere else — in part because the health care reform debate in Congress may delay his departure.
