• Rural kids, parents angry about Labor Dept. rule banning farm chores

A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress. But now it’s attracting barbs from farm kids themselves. The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land. Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work “in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.” “Prohibited places of employment,” a Department press release read,...

An increasing number of Democrats are taking potshots at President Obama’s healthcare law ahead of a Supreme Court decision that could overturn it. The public grievances have come from centrists and liberals and reflect rising anxiety ahead of November’s elections. “I think we would all have been better off — President Obama politically, Democrats in Congress politically, and the nation would have been better off — if we had dealt first with the financial system and the other related economic issues and then come back to healthcare,” said Rep. Brad Miller (D-N.C.), who is retiring at the end of this...

Gainesville, Florida, police are investigating what they believe may have been a “racially motivated” attack early Tuesday morning stemming from the nationally covered Trayvon Martin case involving the tragic death of an unarmed 17-year-old. According to local news affiliates, a 27-year-old Gainesville man was walking home from the bars early Tuesday morning when he said he was jumped by five to eight men who yelled “Trayvon” before the attack. The call before the attack appears to be in reference to the Sandford case that has rocked national headlines, and led to broader societal discussions on crime and race.

A new Newsweek/Daily Beast Poll finds that America is facing a deepening level of racial division and polarization. Majorities of both whites (72%) and blacks (89%) believe the country is divided by race, the Poll finds. But twice as many blacks (40%) as whites (20%) say it is very divided. And just 19 percent of whites say that racism is a big problem in America, vs. 60 percent of blacks. Meanwhile, the killing of 17-year old Trayvon Martin has further polarized America along racial lines, the Newsweek/Daily Beast Poll finds. Reporting from Washington— The Obama administration is proposing to make it easier for illegal immigrants who are family members of American citizens to apply for legal permanent residency. On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security will post for public comment an administrative change intended to reduce the time illegal immigrants would have to spend away from their families while applying for legal status, officials said. The current system requires the applicant to first leave the U.S. to seek a legal visa, but under the proposed change illegal immigrants could claim the time apart from a spouse, child or parent would...

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the advocate will "serve as a point of contact for individuals, including those in immigration proceedings, NGOs and other community and advocacy groups, who have concerns, questions, recommendations or other issues they would like to raise." It's really not fair or accurate to say this administration has declared war on religion. Its policy isn't that clear. If it has one. And if it does, that policy keeps changing, depending on who's exerting what pressures at the time. By now there have been so many reversals and retreats, waivers and exemptions, defeats in court and in the court of public opinion, it's hard to tell just what that policy is at the moment. For most of the Obama administration, we only had to worry about the economic destruction he was fomenting. Now the threats and actions are becoming physically violent. It’s getting scary out there. Forget about running guns to Mexican drug cartels via “Fast and Furious.” Most of the people killed with those guns were Mexican, and they were doing a lot of that even before the Obama administration got into the business of adding to their arsenals. But now we have Democrats, like North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue telling us that maybe we should forgo elections for a few years. Others,...

Barack Obama, US president, offered more support for protesters against the global financial system after a weekend of demonstrations in cities around the world, but called on them not to “demonise” those who worked on Wall Street. On Sunday, Mr Obama honoured Martin Luther King at a dedication to a new memorial on National Mall in Washington. Referring to protests that have spread from Wall Street to London, Rome and elsewhere, Mr Obama said: “Dr King would want us to challenge the excesses of Wall Street without demonising those who work there.” Mr Obama had previously said the protests “express...

Trying its hardest to show that it has no idea what is going on, an official in the Obama White House has now publicly touted the Occupy Wall Street movement, using their own slogan. "The interests of the 99 percent of Americans are well-represented on [President Obama's campaign] tour," said Principal Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest Sunday. Secretary Earnest is referring to the OWS slogan, which states that "the 1%" of "rich capitalists" are oppressing "the 99%" somehow. ...The OWS movement also has a severe antisemitic overtone, even though it calls for "economic equality," and is decidedly more violent than...

President Obama is paying close attention to the Occupy Wall Street movement - and has said he sympathizes with protesters' broad grievances - but for the first time a White House official has publicly touted the movement's "99 percent" slogan. Principal Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest, in a Sunday conference call briefing to outline details of Obama's three-day bus trip to North Carolina and Virginia, was asked if the president intended to address the growing protests that have sprouted up throughout the country and some cities in western Europe. Earnest told scribes to stay tuned, adding that it was possible...

Two hours after President Barack Obama cited Rev. Martin Luther King’s advice that Americans not question each others’ love of country, his spokesman demanded that GOP legislators “put country before party” by ending their opposition to the president’s spending plans. Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest made the demand during an afternoon press conference called to tout the president’s three-day bus tour through counties in swing-states Virginia and North Carolina. The bus tour starts Monday and is intended to magnify the media’s coverage of poll-tested provisions in Obama’s proposed $446 billion, one-year stimulus bill, the American Jobs Act. For example, the...
  • Obama's 2012 theme : blame corporations for unemployment

At first I thought the fleabaggers were just leftist radicals protesting capitalism. But as I am looking at youtube videos from across the country and now the world, a good chunk of them are just unemployeds who are blaming corporations for not hiring them. This is exactly what the regime wants. Blaming Bush has run its course, blaming Congress has had limited success, so now why not blame corporations directly for not hiring. Wall Street is just the figurehead representing corporations. So this is Obama's last line of defense for his failure. He tried everything - from stimulating the economy with trillions to trying to cut deals with mean Republicans.. but in the end it's greedy that corporations don't want to hire because they want to fatten their profits. Vote Obama in 2012 and he will take it to the corporations. This will be the theme heading into 2012.

They don't have a clue where he is. Two Bangladeshis who were caught by Customs and Border Protection illegally crossing the border in June 2010 admitted under questioning that they were members of a designated terrorist organization that signed on to a fatwa by Osama bin Laden pledging to wage war against Americans. But amazingly, after one of the men requested asylum, he was released on bond. And now one Homeland Security official tells me, concerning the released terror operative, “We don’t have the slightest idea where he is now.” The two men, Muhammad Nazmul Hasan and Mirza Muhammad Saifuddin,...

House Republicans have sunk their teeth into the bankruptcy of an Obama administration-backed solar firm, and they made it clear this week that they’re not letting go. Unlike other GOP-led probes of the White House that quickly faded away, Republicans are vowing to intensify their investigation into the California-based Solyndra. The company declared bankruptcy and laid off 1,100 workers this month just two years after receiving a $535 million stimulus-law loan guarantee from the administration. The incident has ignited a firestorm in Washington, leaving the White House scrambling to defend itself against Republican allegations that the administration missed a series...

The Federal Register’s publication of The Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s illegal Net Neutrality regulations happened this week. That is the final step towards their illegal implementation on November 20th. The Federal Communications Commission on December 21st illegally voted themselves – in 3-2 Democrat Party-line fashion – Internet Overlords with their unauthorized imposition of the job-killing regulatory nightmare that is Network Neutrality. The opposition to this unauthorized power grab was nearly universal. The D.C. Circuit Court had already unanimously ruled that the FCC had no authority to do it. The House of Representatives almost immediately passed to overturn the order a...
