Romney leads Obama by 49 to 46 percent in Ohio, according to the poll, and trails Obama in Wisconsin by 49 to 47 percent, according to polling first obtained by The Hill.

The war in the right to life for the future unborn may boil down to the number 18. The number18 is the age of majority when a young person becomes a legal adult in America. More importantly, it also represents the 18 electoral votes the winner of the Ohio presidential contest will need to lock down the presidency in this battleground state. Every single voter of faith in Ohio should listen to their heart to the cries of the vanquished souls of 50 million babies who were deprived of their God-given gift to see the age of 18, since the...

With the presidential election expected to hinge on Ohio, the state’s former secretary of state, GOP stalwart Kenneth Blackwell, is warning that a little-known change in the Buckeye State’s absentee-ballot process could lead to a “nightmare scenario.” And that scenario could force the entire country to wait 10 days after the election to find out who will be the next president of the United States. It’s a complicated situation, to say the least, but one that could have a far-reaching impact on the Nov. 6 election process. For the first time in the key swing state’s history, Blackwell says, virtually...

Ok...I'm a recovering pessimist. I actually think Romney's going to win this thing, and possibly win it by a larger margin than most pollsters and pundits are predicting. The national election seems to have stabilized into a 50-47 pattern that is unlikely to change barring some major news event or scandal over the weekend. But I still have a little bit of Eeyore in me, and there are three things that worry me: 1. Nate Silver This whiny turd with his hyperconfident "78.9 chance Obama wins" line is the biggest burr in my saddle. Unlike many, I'm not that impressed...

October 30, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An Ottawa-area mom says she is “incensed” that a teacher at her daughter’s Catholic school has organized a trip to Ohio in the final days of the U.S. election to support the re-election of President Obama. Fifty-two students from St. Peter’s and St. Matthew’s high schools in Ottawa are set to make the trek across the border this week to Boardman, Ohio, accompanied by civics teacher Scott Searle. Ohio is considered a key swing state in the presidential election. Calls by LifeSiteNews to St. Peter’s school were directed to the school board. A media spokesperson...

Barack Obama is clearly winning the early vote in Ohio. But careful analysis of the actual numbers so far suggest very good news for Mitt Romney. The Romney campaign claims the president is merely banking votes he would have received on Election Day anyway, so his early lead isn’t very important. They say their early voting strategy relies on targeting low-voting-propensity Romney supporters for early voting and leaving the others to turn out on Election Day. In other words, they claim Obama’s effort is merely harvesting votes while theirs is creating votes. This approach makes sense, but it’s hard to...

Speaking on Meet the Press, Ohio Governor John Kasich -while noting the race was 'close'- was of the opinion that Romney's all but taken Ohio, and stressed that he hasn't previously made this kind of claim. You'd think the state's most powerful Republican would be close enough to the action to have a feel for Republican mood, momentum, and ground game there  (he's not the only GOPer looking at Ohio close-up and coming away with a real positive impression, either): "Look, they're very close. But I believe right now we are currently ahead. Internals show us currently ahead," said the Governor...  "I...

The small but consistent leads that pollsters are giving President Obama in Ohio are based on the notion that Republicans will not show up on Election Day. What started as a couple of polls with questionable samples has become a consensus. Pollsters, with few exceptions, are predicting that Democrats will at least maintain their turnout edge from 2008 if not increase it. A sampling of the crosstabs from recent Ohio polling reveals the following:

An Ohio community college student has been arrested and charged after police said he threatened to shoot GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney. A teacher at Lorain County Community College said that during the time students were doing group work in class Monday she overheard Shaquille Brown say he wanted to shoot Romney. The 19-year-old Brown of Elyria was charged Wednesday in Elyria Municipal Court in northeast Ohio with one count of inducing panic.

There is nothing like having unbiased media coverage of the all-important presidential campaign leading up to next week's election. And the media is nothing like unbiased. We see this playing out again as Mitt Romney is now being accused of misrepresenting a story that Bloomberg.com reported on Chrysler's potential outsourcing of Jeep manufacturing to China. A look at the original comments from the article gives evidence as to how unfair the criticism is and just how right Romney was for pointing out the likely future outsourcing of Jeep manufacturing. According to the Detroit Free Press, Romney stated during an Ohio...

While all national attention is focused — indeed riveted — on the seven to nine swing or battleground states, a major shift is taking place in the rest of the country: Voters are turning off Obama and onto Romney. In the forty states where the Obama campaign has not spread toxic negative ads against Romney, the Republican is gaining by leaps and bounds and will likely carry a bunch of “non-swing” normally blue states. Specifically, Romney is now three points ahead in Pennsylvania, one point behind in Michigan, and only two points behind in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Together, these four...

President Barack Obama and former Governor Mitt Romney continue to run a close race for Ohio's prized 18 electoral votes. In the race for U.S. Senate, likely voters currently give incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown a 49 to 44 edge over Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel. These findings are based on the latest Ohio Poll, conducted by the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati. The Ohio Poll is sponsored by the University of Cincinnati. The Poll was conducted with Ohio likely voters from October 25 to October 30, 2012.

No wonder David Axelrod thinks that Barack Obama can win Ohio without winning independents. According to the latest Buckeye State poll from PPP, they only need an extra five points from non-Democrats to get a majority: **** A new Public Policy Polling survey in Ohio, conducted on behalf of Health Care for America Now, finds Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney 50-45. **** Oh, let’s just skip the rest of the preliminaries and go right to the sample. The D/R/I on this poll is a ridiculous 45/36/19 that assumes Democrats will add six points to their 2008 turnout while independents largely...

We're down to the final week of the election, where we'd normally expect to see pollsters fine-tuning their samples in order to get the most predictive survey results ahead of the election. It's refreshing, therefore, to see the CBS/NYT/Quinnipiac partnership decide to buck that trend and stick with consistency. Their polls in the most hotly contested swing states of Ohio, Florida, and Virginia all show Barack Obama edging Mitt Romney --- as long as voter turnout resembles Obama's big win in 2008: President Obama has maintained a five-point lead in the crucial swing state of Ohio, according to a new...

I stopped at the Medina County Board of Elections yesterday on my way home from work and received printed copies of the totals for 2008 absentee ballots requested and cast as well as the 2012 numbers as of 10/29/12 at 3:45 pm est. What I found out mirrors the data being worked by Perdogg, Ravi, and LS. In 2008 the Democrats pulled 10,089 ballots out of 27,167 total for 37.1% and returned 9,933 out of 26,351 total for 37.7%. The Republicans in the county pulled 6,589 (24.2%) and returned 6,468 (24.5%). The remaining ballots were pulled by individuals who do...

Since February 8th, Mitt Romney has led only once in the Rasmussen poll of likely Ohio voters and that was ages ago, in May. At the beginning of October, Obama was ahead by the thinnest of margins, just 1 point. But results from the Sunday, October 28th poll show Romney with a 2 point lead, 50-48, breaking the 48-48 tie of the previous week. (1) Nearly one third of Ohio voters have already cast their ballots and among these early voters, Obama has a lead of 62%-36%. But according to Rasmussen, the good news is that “… Romney has a...

COLUMBUS -- Ohio Republicans claim some Democratic groups are influencing students to vote for President Obama by offering free pizza. Last week, Ohio GOP Chairman Robert Bennett filed a complaint with the Franklin County Elections Board. He claims the group 'Buckeyes for Obama' held a party at the Ohio Union on the Ohio State University campus, offered the 50 attendees free pizza, then took them to an early voting center in Columbus. GOP Spokesman Matt Henderson says that's illegal, "The Obama campaign has an obligation to follow the rules, and when this is happening on a mass scale, that can...
