  • Obama: Pope Didn't Raise Obamacare 'In Detail' But I Told Vatican Sec. of State 'Most Religious

(CNSNews.com) – President Obama said Pope Francis did not raise Obamacare “in detail” when they met on Thursday, but that in a separate meeting with the Vatican’s secretary of state “we discussed briefly the issue of making sure that conscience and religious freedom was observed in the context of applying the law.” At a joint press conference with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Obama also acknowledged that he differs with the Vatican’s stance on some issues, but added that he “heartily” agrees with most of its positions. - See more at:

The battle over military retirement benefits in the budget deal was the first skirmish in a larger compensation war, and next year's outcome could determine the fate of long-protected military compensation programs. Budget experts and veterans groups say the retirement benefits fight will serve as a test case to see what appetite there is on Capitol Hill to actually cut military compensation costs — and how much blowback will come from those efforts. “There’s no doubt that this is a little bit of a weather vane, a litmus test as to what the veterans and military communities’ tolerance is going...

I remember back in the 70's one of the primary conservative organizations was the Americans for Constitutional Action. They were the conservative answer to the Americans for Democratic Action just as the Committee for the Survival of a Free Congress was conservatism's answer to the National Committee for an Effective Congress. Yet I have never found the organizations's official web page or even heard it mentioned in decades. It doesn't even have an article in Wikipedia. Does anyone know whatever became of the ACA?

I know this is a major vanity. However, I want to know what's the best Seniors Organization out there. I turned 50 last June, and I'm thinking about retiring from my teaching job. The Blue Cross/Blue Shield coverage goes up dramatically for retirees, and I'd like something that might be more affordable. I definitely want something opposing AARP, which is the Seniors Political Arm of the Obama Administration. However, in doing research there's several to choose from. AMAC, American Seniors Association, Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), the National Active Retirement Association, etc. Which one to choose? Which one's best?...

Leaders of the resurrected radical group ACORN are lobbying the Obama administration in what appears to be a concerted effort to game the electoral system to help Democrats, new evidence suggests. At least five Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now leaders have visited the White House this year alone. One of those ACORN officials has been involved in vetting Department of Justice hires who may help to enforce the voter fraud-enabling National Voting Rights Act (NVRA), also known as the Motor-Voter law. The Department has come under fire for refusing to enforce Section 8, which requires states to remove...

As was pointed out in the afforementioned article, researchers suggest that it takes only 5% of a group to influence the actions of the other 95%. When the call goes out, the mob will act without even knowing why – they just will. WASHINGTON - The pitches from AMVETS are practiced and smooth: Help America's veterans get treatment for their disabilities or monthly checks to compensate for their injuries. Give them the means to avoid homelessness. AMVETS tells potential donors that it's chartered by Congress, which creates the misleading impression that the U.S. government vouches for the organization and is overseeing it. AMVETS spent $8.5 million in 2004, but according to its tax record only 22 percent of it went for programs that helped veterans, much less than the 60 to 65 percent that experts on philanthropy consider the minimum. For years, it has been my position that the threat of radical Islam implies an imperative to focus security measures on Muslims. If searching for rapists, one looks only at the male population. Similarly, if searching for Islamists (adherents of radical Islam), one looks at the Muslim population. And so, I was encouraged by a just-released Cornell University opinion survey that finds nearly half the U.S. population agreeing with this proposition. Specifically, 44 percent of Americans believe that government authorities should direct special attention toward Muslims living in America, either by registering their whereabouts, profiling them, monitoring their mosques, or infiltrating...

Do the media give aid and comfort to terrorists by giving their violence maximum exposure and impact at times while sanitizing the perpetrators and tainting their victims at others? It is standard procedure for many media outlets to describe the perpetrators of terrorist acts - the premeditated slaughter of civilians - with a range of euphemisms, "militants" being the most common. Thus, The New York Times can headline a report on the killing of a hostage as "Iraq Militants Said to Behead a Truck Driver From Bulgaria."
