Assuming the Mayor of Pittsburgh gets his way, tomorrow the City Council will vote on enacting several new gun bans, all of which face immediate questions in terms of their legality. The new laws include a ban on various types of “assault weapons” including rifles, handguns and shotguns. There are also bans on a variety of firearms accessories and the introduction of a new “red flag” law. As our friend Jeff Duntez points out, even if they didn’t face significant Second Amendment issues, most of these laws aren’t permitted under existing state law.

Last Saturday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union Party voted down a motion to freeze funding for the Palestinian Authority until it stops its “pay to slay” imbursements to terrorists and their families. The motion stated that “with the payments, the PA knowingly and willingly supports terror against Israel and makes this a worthy financial business.” But Merkel’s party wasn’t moved. One day later, a Palestinian terror attack seriously wounded a pregnant woman. The baby, who was delivered in an emergency procedure, held out for a few days and died on Wednesday. In October during a visit to...

Williams crashed 2 miles away in Youngwood about 15 minutes later, ran into a wooded area and was eventually apprehended, according to county Park Police Chief Kirk Nolan. Williams was back behind bars Wednesday on $250,000 bail. Investigators will be examining surveillance video from outside...
