Dr. James Innell Packer, a noted Canadian theologian, author and a Board of Governors Professor of Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, as well as an executive editor of Christianity Today, recently addressed the contentious problem of homosexuality and same-sex unions in the Anglican church. The Anglican Church has come to a cross-roads because of the issue of same-sex "marriage," with a massive split in the Global Communion looking increasingly inevitable. Dr. Packer opened his remarks with a statement explaining why this issue is of such great importance in the Anglican Church today. "In brief," he said, "because it involves...

One of the world's most famous evangelical theologians quit the Anglican Church of Canada this week because he believes many of its bishops are "arguably heretical" for adhering to "poisonous liberalism." James (J.I.) Packer, whom Time magazine recently named as one of the planet's 25 most influential evangelicals, said he hesitated before using the harsh terms to describe the Anglican bishops, but believed he must do so in the name of truth. Vancouver-based Packer, who has sold more than four million copies of his many books, said he and 10 other B.C. Anglican clergy left the national denomination this week...

BREAKING: JI Packer threatened with suspension Michael Daley on Feb-28-2008 As evidence of the escalating crisis in the global Anglican Communion, today one of the of the world’s most esteemed Christian theologians, Dr. J.I. Packer, received a letter threatening suspension from ministry by the controversial Bishop of New Westminster, Michael Ingham. It's time to come to the defense of Judith Miller. Yes, the former New York Times reporter served as a mouthpiece for the Bush administration during the buildup to the Iraq War. And she certainly had a dubious role in the Plamegate scandal. But the way her colleagues have been going after her, you'd think Miller was the only journalist who abetted the Bush administration's rush to war. Or that she was the only reporter who got too cozy with officials when they maliciously leaked a CIA agent's identity. There are lots of them. Just last week, another war accomplice,...

Why We Need the Puritans by J. I. Packer A QUEST FOR GODLINESS The Puritan Vision of the Christian Life I Horse Racing is said to be the sport of kings. The sport of slinging mud has, however, a wider following. Pillorying the Puritans, in particular, has long been a popular pastime both sides of the Atlantic, and most people's image of Puritanism still has on it much disfiguring dirt that needs to be scraped off. 'Puritan' as a name was, in fact, mud from the start. Coined in the early 1560's, it was always a satirical smear word implying...

The Battle for Wisconsin by Stephen F. Hayes 09/06/2004, Volume 009, Issue 48 Green Bay JOHN KERRY may have lost Wisconsin last Wednesday. Lambeau Field is arguably the most historic sporting venue in the United States. Opposing players long for the opportunity to play there. It's the Mecca of American football. Every American male over the age of 4 can finish the description of the field made famous by the pseudo-thunderous voice of ESPN's Chris Berman: "The Frooooooozen Tunnnnnnnndra of . . . " Lambert Field? That's what John Kerry called it during a stop last week in Green Bay....

I flipped over to NBC last night, and caught the tail-end of Nightly News. Brian Williams was doing a story on our man, Greg Packer. I had the volume down, so I couldnt catch everything, but it almost seemed like they were admitting they had been duped by the guy before, and were having a laugh at their own expense.

Thursday, June 12, 2003 The Times' Designated Man in the Street When the New York Times needs to find a man in the street to interview they never have to look very far - they have one on tap suitable for every occasion. Thanks to a sharp-eyed Ann Coulter, one Greg Packer has been outed as the media's designated man in the street - a role Mr. Packer has played more than 100 times, Coulter discovered. His latest assignment for the Times was to be the average man in the street in line waiting to buy Mrs. Clinton's newest work...
