Bill Clinton reportedly has a buxom blond mistress who visits so often when Hillary Clinton isn’t home in Chappaqua that the former president’s Secret Service detail have given her an unofficial code name: Energizer. This is according to Ronald Kessler in “The First Family Detail: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of Presidents,” due Aug. 5 from Crown Forum. Kessler is no stranger to the controversies surrounding the Secret Service. He broke the story that Secret Service agents protecting President Obama in Cartagena, Colombia, hired prostitutes, and put the president in jeopardy.

Not everyone thinks Michelle Obama is the epitome of style. "Everyone compares her to Jackie O -- she is not the next Jackie O," sniped designer Douglas Hannant SNIP A spy said, "There were some gasps in the room." Note: The Huffington Post published a statement from Hannant's publicist:"I did say 'Michelle Obama is not another Jackie Kennedy and I do not consider to be a style icon.'(sic) But in addition, I also said 'She has so much more to her and has mass appeal. I admire her as a role model and think she will achieve great things in...

The New York Times is always for higher taxes. But publisher Arthur O. Sulzberger Jr. doesn't relish paying Uncle Sam any more than he has to. The Post's Braden Keil reports "Pinch" just sold his duplex Central Park-fronting apartment at 1 W. 64th St. to his wife, Gail Gregg, for the relatively low price of $3.25 million, according to city transfers. When quizzed about the odd transaction, a Times spokeswoman said: "The sale was done for estate-planning purposes." Neighbors in the building include Madonna, who briefly put her like-sized duplex on the market for $6.75 million in 1997.

HUMA Abedin, the traveling aide who is rarely out of Hillary Rodham Clinton's sight, has been seen with bachelor Rep. Anthony Weiner on the campaign trail. Shortly before Clinton arrived for a fund-raiser Thursday night at the Hiro club in the Meatpacking District, Abedin was spotted going into the Maritime Hotel around the corner with Weiner. If they were trying to keep their affair a secret, you'd think they'd find someplace where political reporters wouldn't be walking by.

WELL, at least the Dixie Chicks have the Canadians on their side. After Tuesday's premiere of Barbara Koppel's documentary about the Chicks, "Shut Up and Sing" - which is about how their fans revolted after Natalie Maines bashed President Bush two years ago - Toronto Film Festival managing director Michelle Maheux said, "This country would never allow something like this to happen." While the Canadian crowd ate up the movie, conservatives were riled up again - specifically with lead singer Maines, who calls President Bush a "dumb [bleep]" in the film. "What a fascist little bee-atch!" said one angry post...

INTELLIGENCER Remember the Jared Paul Stern gossip-ethics kerfuffle? The FBI does. Stern, a longtime freelance contributor to the Post’s “Page Six,” was accused by billionaire Ron Burkle of trying to extort $200,000 from him in exchange for keeping negative stories about him out of the paper. Now the “Page Six” editor, Richard Johnson, has been contacted for questioning by a group that includes prosecutors from the Southern District and federal agents. Asked about a looming interview with the G-men, Johnson referred calls to a publicist. One of Johnson’s lawyers, Ed Hayes, says he is aware the Feds requested a routine...

Is "shock jock" Howard Stern's voice powerful enough to affect the upcoming presidential election to the extent of sending President Bush packing? That's what the Boston Globe wants to know, explaining that the liberal talk show host the newspaper describes as a "stripper aficionado, champion of misfits everywhere, all-purpose radio provocateur," has turned his raunchy show into a Bush bashing marathon. Writes the Globe's Matthew Gilbert, Stern has been devoting hours of his broadcast every weekday "to impassioned criticism of President Bush and support of Senator John Kerry." Stern, he writes has been "Railing tirelessly against the president, attacking Bush's...

<p>ALEC Baldwin isn't suffering from any lack of self-esteem. In A&E's "Biography: Alec Baldwin," premiering tonight, the bombastic actor compares himself to Black Panther leader Eldridge Cleaver, who wrote "Soul on Ice." Baldwin recalls that when he was younger, "My dad said to me, 'If you were black . . . with your personality,' he said, 'Do you think you would be Martin Luther King, or would you be Eldridge Cleaver? Would you be patient and wise, and kind, and peaceful?' He said, 'Or do you think you'd really, really get out there and . . . exert yourself a little more in order to leverage change in our society?' And I knew the answer . . . I knew the answer was the latter."</p>

Bill Clinton wasn't rooting for his old nemesis Paula Jones when she squared off last month against ice-skater Tonya Harding. Newsweek's Jonathan Alter reports the former president remarked: "That Tonya Harding looks like a pretty tough cookie to me." Harding easily beat Jones, the former Arkansas civil servant who sued Clinton for sexual harassment. Newsweek also tells how Clinton called his trusted aide Julia Payne one night at 1 a.m. ranting and raving. "Sir," she interrupted, "have you been watching Fox [News Channel] again?
