MEMPHIS, TN -(WMC-TV) – Police say a two-year-old pointed a gun at them while they were checking on a report that the child and its siblings were left alone in a car while their mother got her nails done. It was a bizarre twist of events that left other customers wondering why a mother would leave her kids alone in such a dangerous environment. "It's a crying shame," said Nicole Eubanks, after she heard about the arrest of 23-year-old Erica Rooks. "It doesn't make any sense." Rooks is charged with marijuana possession, unlawful possession of a weapon and three counts...

Much as Western men are subconsciously boycotting marriage due to government interference, lop sided, antequated divorce laws anti-male family law courts, etc., women are starting to see the drawbacks to remarrying men who have children with former wives and even former girlfriends who hold all the power in the relationship.

Gay marriage, and especially gay parenting, has been in the cross hairs in recent days. A Christian parenting book has come under fire after the deaths of three children from abuse. The families are reported to have been following the guidance of the book "To Train Up a Child" by Michael and Debi Pearl. The "Today" show reports: Hana Williams, 13, died of hypothermia after allegedly being starved, abused and locked outside by her parents. Lydia Schatz, age 7, died after being repeatedly beaten by her parents. And 4-year-old Sean Paddock suffocated after his mother wrapped him in a blanket too tightly in an effort to keep him from getting out of bed. ...

Parents…Are You Doing Your Job? Dec 30th, 2011by Gary Zimak. Today we celebrate the feast of the Holy Family.  God values family life so highly that He willed that the Savior would be born into an ordinary family.  In fact, Jesus spent the vast majority of His life living an ordinary life with Mary and Joseph.  Rather than go with the obvious “feel good” message about family life, I’m choosing instead to use this opportunity to remind all parents of their responsibilities to their children.  In today’s society, the family is under constant attack and it’s all too easy to...

The Education Question 1092. Speaking of education, what is the real reason for Catholic antipathy to our state schools? Whatever others may think of our public policy of free, compulsory, and secular education, Catholics cannot in conscience accept that system as being suitable for the education of Catholic children. The real reason is that the religious training of the children is not sufficiently provided for, the time allotted for religion being quite inadequate, even were it utilized. The State system demands the "3 R's," reading, writing and arithmetic. Catholic principles demand the "4 R's," religion, reading, writing and arithmetic; and...

You can watch the full video at the link, but I'll summarize: Under-age teens have figured out that they can soak Gummi candy (bears, worms, LifeSavers, whatever) in vodka, and then carry the candy into school, sporting events, movies, etc. The knowledge is spreading quickly through social networking like Facebook. Left overnight, the gelatin in the candy can soak up a lot of liquid. Since vodka doesn't have much of an odor, you have to eat the candy or smell it carefully to realize it has been soaked in liquor.

In "The Wizard of Oz," the Scarecrow has no brains - but at "Wicked," certain parents suffer the same shortcoming. The wildly popular musical, pulling them in at the Civic Center through Oct. 30, is the prequel to the Dorothy-led shenanigans through Oz. Crowds are wowed by the theatrics and singing, and I was also blown away - by the irritating children behind me. Worse, we’ve managed to add an extra decade to adolescence. How could this happen? It’s one of the most confounding aspects of raising children: the sheer unpredictability of the endeavor. Meet Storm. With those big blue eyes, fair hair and chubby cheeks, the four-month-old is certainly adorable. But whether this baby is a bruising boy or a blushing girl is, the parents say, a secret. In fact, they’re leaving the decision up to him – or her. The bizarre move has led to Kathy Witterick, 38, and husband David Stocker, 39, being labelled the most politically correct family in the world.

“So it’s a boy, right?” a neighbour calls out as Kathy Witterick walks by, her four month old baby, Storm, strapped to her chest in a carrier. Witterick smiles, comments on the sunny spring day, and keeps walking. She’s used to it. The neighbours know Witterick and her husband, David Stocker, are raising a genderless baby. But they don’t pretend to understand it. Witterick and Stocker believe they are giving their children the freedom to choose who they want to be, unconstrained by social norms about males and females. “What we noticed is that parents make so many choices for their...

Each week the woman asks the same question about the baby with the squishy cheeks and feathery blond hair. Witterick smiles, opens her arms wide, comments on the sunny spring day, and keeps walking. She’s used to it. The neighbours know Witterick and her husband, David Stocker, are raising a genderless baby. But they don’t pretend to understand it.

Sex Education 969. The Catholic Church seems very much behind the times where the training of children in sex psychology is concerned. Experts are against you. 970. Psychology tells us that a child's sense of responsibility simply does not develop in its childhood. That is not true. The conscience of a child or its sense of responsibility, begins to develop from the moment it attains to its first conscious ideas. The basic general intuition that good ought to be done and evil avoided has not to be taught to the child at all, for it is the innate characteristic of...

I went to see the Thor movie yesterday with my family and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Thor was one of the more original superheroes devised by Marvel in the Sixties. Doctor Donald Blake, on a vacation in Norway, stumbles into a cave where he finds Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer, disguised as a walking stick. Striking it he is transformed into Thor, god of Thunder. As Thor, Blake finds that he has super strength, can fly by flinging Mjolnir and hanging on, that Mjolnir is close to indestructible and will return to Thor after he throws it,...

Obama Administration Seeks to Test Anthrax Vaccine in Children Friday, 06 May 2011 Whose children will be sacrificed in an illegal and unethical experiment in the name of Biodefense Preparedness? According to BioPrepWatch.com , the Obama administration is seeking to obtain a green light to conduct an anthrax vaccine safety experiment  on US children.  The stated rationale for such a trial, articulated by Dr. Nicole Lurie, US Dept. of Health and Human Services,  is that there are no data about the safety of exposing children to the anthrax vaccine. And if an emergency arises, a trial "would present an...
