TOLD YOU SO!

I have been trumpeting my gut feeling that Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton were working beneath the scenes to secretly try to undermine Barack Obama. My reasons for believing this is because Hillary is a very ambitious lady. She wants to be president. She knows that if John McCain is elected she is in position to run as the Democrat front-runner in 2012 against likely Sarah Palin. She also knows that if Barack Obama is elected she must wait 8 years because she would not be able to oust an incumbent president. Today Bill Clinton told Chris Cuomo of ABC...

GOP Increase in Party ID After Convention Not Unusual

For Freeper poll watchers, this is an interesting article about party identification. This is really the reason that Rasmussen has not shown the same gap for McCain that Gallup has recently, as Rasmussen is weighting his poll according to a full 90 days prior survey of what he believes the makeup by party will be come election day. I guess that we will all find out on November 4th, but I personally don't think that this is a traditional situation where the increase in Republican party identification or leaning will decrease to levels that Rasmussen is currently weighting his polls...

The dance continues. Nader seeks a diverse and fierce ticket. In an election environment where diversity is playing a key role in attracting voters, perpetual presidential contender Ralph Nader said he's decided on dancer Jose Fantastico as his running mate. Fantastico will be the first Hispanic and the only openly gay vice presidential candidate in history. "Oh my God! I feel like Sally Field," Fantastico said at a press conference. "You like me! You really, really like me!" Fantastico said he brings a lot to the ticket.
Visa and US Bank Pay for Freshmen to Party

Congressional newbies who feared they came to Capitol Hill too late to enjoy the famed convention parties thrown by corporate interests (a practice banned by recent ethics laws) will have a chance this afternoon to do just that. Visa and US Bank (a subsidiary of US Bancorp)--which have spent a total of $2.6 million on lobbying in the first six months of the year--are hosting a reception in the late afternoon for the freshman members of the House of Representatives. These lawmakers have also collected $19,450 in campaign contributions from the two companies' employees and PACs since they were elected....

Many years ago, during the 1970s if memory serves, neoconservative Irving Kristol, echoing John Stuart Mill, called his conservative party, the Republican Party, “the stupid party.” Kristol was referring to the Republican’s inability to compete on the policy front.
GOP Hosts a House Party to Irk Dems

This all started when the House adjourned for its customary monthlong August break. A number of Republican members had hoped to deliver speeches arguing for more oil drilling to bring down gas prices. Instead, the Democrats shut everything down, turning off the cameras, the microphones, the lights. Frustrated Republicans simply kept talking. Normal House rules didn't apply. The members started bringing tourists and staff onto the floor. Things grew raucous on occasion, with people chanting, giving standing ovations or booing at the mention of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. Republican leaders liked what they saw and called on more members...

John Kerry For Party President

Looking to get re-elected, Massachusetts Senator John Kerry went on a campaign binge on Saturday night -- at a Nantucket house party full of young chicks. Electoral college girls gone wild! The married 65-year-old hung out with some Bud Light drinking constituents who, we are told, are college sophomores and juniors. We hope John's campaign is ready for the Senator to get tagged in some Facebook photos with ladies drinking through penis straws. No word if John had to kiss any babies.

The advice for House candidates is part of an effort to minimize Republican losses in a year when voters are exasperated by the economy, the Iraq war and President Bush: “Encourage Republican candidates to establish themselves in a personal manner, emphasizing local issues whenever possible.” “Candidates have to have a positive alternative vis-à-vis their Democratic opponents.” “Work to develop an issues matrix that is different than in years past and also shows a...

The Future of the Right

It seems to me there are three main factions within the Republican Party, and while we can see strengths and weaknesses in each of them, the future of the Right is far from clear. 1: Progressive Republicans (aka: Teddy Roosevelt Republicans) - These are the Republicans who may be solid allies on many issues, but who also seem to want a Great Leader who can do Big Things. They are Crusader Conservatives - generally reliable on limited government, but willing to go off on Big Government crusades.
In the crucible of the searing competition between Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, a new Democratic coalition is being forged. Their gripping race for the party's presidential nomination has not only increased Democratic turnout around the country -- often to record levels -- it has also significantly changed the composition of that turnout, possibly tipping the party's internal balance of power. From New Hampshire to California, and from Arizona to Wisconsin, exit polls from this year's contests show the Democratic coalition evolving in clear and consistent ways since the 2004 primaries that nominated John Kerry.
