  • 'The people are the ONLY legitimate FOUNTAIN of power'; Congress is but 'creatures of the people'

One of my favorite fireworks are "fountain" based designs. As you review these Fountain Firework Images (or see them tonight in your neighborhoods), think of Founding Father's James Madison use of the "fountain" image (1788): "The people are the ONLY legitimate FOUNTAIN of power, and it is from THEM that the constitutional character, under which the several branches of government hold their power, is derived." (The Federalist Papers) Our government has forgotten this basic notion of freedom. With... ...the IRS targeting scandal and ensuing cover-up, ...ObamaCare attempted sovereignty of our lives, ...increased governmental encroachment, ...spend-happy 'pols' in D.C. and our...

As the situation in Iraq continues to deteriorate, President Obama's Iraq policy is coming under increasing scrutiny. On the Senate floor today, Senator John McCain even said: "It's time that the president got a new national security team." But the White House website's page on Iraq continues to tout Iraq as a "promise kept," noting that in President Obama's first inauguration speech, he said, "We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people," a mission he gave his national security team on his first full day in office:

(CNSNews.com) - Amid increasing pressure from both Democrats and Republicans for President Obama to say something about the unfolding scandal at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the president finally did so on Wednesday. "I know that people are angry and want swift reckoning. I sympathize with that," Obama said. "But we have to let the investigators do their jobs and get to the bottom of what happened. Our veterans deserve to know the facts; their families deserve to know the facts. Once we know the facts, I assure you, if there is misconduct it will be punished."

A current employee alleges that there is no work for employees to do, so they often sit idly staring at computer screens. Serco is supposed to process Obamacare applications, input the data into computers, and complete the sign up process, but the employee told KMOV that weeks could pass without an employee processing an application. “The main thing is that the Data Entry side does not have hardly any work to...

The disquietude of the people; their repugnance and, perhaps, refusal to co-operate with the officers of the Union; the frowns of the executive magistracy of the State; the embarrassments created by legislative devices, which would often be added on such occasions, would oppose, in any State, difficulties not to be despised; would form, in...

In a recent paper, Lubinski and his colleagues caught up with one cohort of 320 people now in their late 30s. At 12, their SAT math or verbal scores had placed them among the top one-100th of 1 percent. Today, many are CEOs, professors at top research universities, transplant surgeons, and successful novelists. That outcome sounds like exactly what you’d imagine should happen: Top young people grow into high-achieving adults. ALBANY - The constitutional limits of police deception, and the potential for trickery to cause a false confession, seemed to trouble the judges on New York's highest court Tuesday as they heard two appeals challenging nearly 150 years of jurisprudence. For more than an hour, the judges engaged in a lively give-and-take with defense and prosecution attorneys in two cases that are unrelated except for the fact that both involve defendants who confessed after they were tricked by police. The Court of Appeals has long held that police can resort to deceit and subterfuge to persuade a suspect to confess...

Cathy Reisenwitz explains why in Forbes: Experts say that young, healthy people must enroll in ObamaCare’s health exchanges to cover the cost of insuring sicker, older people. It’s a simple math equation: Charge everyone roughly the same rate for access to basically the same product. The people who use it less will subsidize the people who use it more. The problem with this plan is that it hoses young,...

The aim of personalized medicine is to design an optimum cancer therapy after analyzing genes in a patient's tumor. Dogs, which have strong genetic similarities with humans, get many of the same types of cancers as people and have similar responses to cancer-fighting drugs. When diagnosed, dogs often have a shorter survival time than humans, allowing researchers to see if a drug is making a difference in a shorter period. In people, it can take three to five years...

As the U.S. economy suspends in a prolonged, comatose state, high joblessness and uncertainty among young Americans have incited youth discontent with the federal government’s fiscal and economic blunders. A new poll conducted by Generation Opportunity, a non-profit organization that educates young Americans on the nation’s current political and economic affairs, surveyed individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 on issues such as government spending, national security, and Washington leadership. The latest U.S. jobs report positioned October as the 32nd consecutive month that unemployment has hovered near or above the 9 percent mark. However, the current unemployment rate does...

(CNSNews.com) – Although more young people found jobs between April and July, the percentage of young people employed in July 2011 was the lowest July rate on record since the government started tracking the numbers in 1948. Data released on Wednesday by the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows that only 48.8 percent of young people ages 16-24 were employed in July, a slightly lower percentage than last year. Youth employment typically peaks in July, as high school and college students work summer jobs and graduates take permanent jobs. In July 2011, 18.6 million 16- to 24-year-olds were...

For the time being these attacks seem to be limited to teenagers, but it won’t be long before we see professional criminal organizations begin to use them to coordinate higher-end robberies or even vendettas against others. As was pointed out in the afforementioned article, researchers suggest that it takes only 5% of a group to influence the actions of the other 95%. When the call goes out, the mob will act without even knowing why – they just will. This is exactly what happened in Wisconsin when they began vandalizing fair storefronts and robbing them, eventually turning their attention to...

I don't mean this as derogatory or to start a negative debate but there is something I have noticed over the last year and I am more curious than anything. In my area I have noticed an abundance increase in the black culture. When I go to Pizza parlors, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Lowes, Ruby Tuesdays,Pei Wei, Furniture stores, etc. We live about 20 miles outside of Philadelphia and until two years ago you would see very, very few black people at any of these places now it is about 1/3 or more. Now sporting Mercedes', Lexus' and Hummers. Like I...
  • Carney: Obama Telling People To Tweet GOPers Is A "Bipartisan Message"

    07/29/2011 3:23:39 PM PDT · by Nachum · 8 replies
Question from Reporter #1: "You mentioned the word bipartisan. How does it promote an atmosphere of bipartisanship for the President to encourage citizens to call recalcitrant lawmakers and to use his campaign apparatus to tweet out the Twitter handles of Republicans to encourage them to encourage people to sort of jump all over folks to get them to vote? I mean, does that foster a sense of cooperation?" Jay Carney, White House press secretary: "What the President has called for is for those Americans who believe that we need compromise in Washington to communicate that to their members of Congress....

Man oh man. What is happening to our society? Where are all of these people coming from all of the sudden? People parking in Handicapped spots that walk completely fine and then pull down the placard as they drive away. Ignorant people that cut in line at the deli, amusement park or shows. Parents on cell phone calls as their crazed kids run around uncontrollably. I ain't perfect, nor am I one of those people that said "when I was young..." Because I feel a lot of these teens have more "manners" than most adults and younger kids. WTH is...
