I received a particularly thoughtful and uplifting message from the former Constitution Party presidential candidate Mike Peroutka's site recently, and thought that I'd share it. Dear Friends of the Constitutional Republic, During this Christmas Season, as we buy gifts and trim trees and greet relatives and friends, we hear much about the circumstances of the birth of Christ. As we prepare for the celebration of Christmas, we rehearse the Gospel stories of the coming of our Savior by remembering the wise men, the star they followed (as a child I was always fascinated by the camels they rode), the manger,...

The following statement has been issued by Michael Anthony Peroutka, the Presidential candidate of the Constitution Party in 2004. He is also co-founder, with his brother Steve, of “Institute On The Constitution.” And he is co-host, with John Lofton, of “The American View” radio show. I endorse Rep. Ron Paul for President. And I endorse him not because he is the lesser of two evils. A Christian can never endorse any kind of evil. I endorse Rep. Paul because — from a Christian/Biblical and Constitutional perspective – he is, by far, the best candidate running for President. — Rep. Paul...

The party held a national committee meeting last weekend where Howard Phillips, who is the party's founder and three time Presidential candidate (1992, 1996 and 2000), told World Net Daily "The time has never been better for a third party dark horse candidate to grab the White House." Stephen G. Peroutka, chairman of the board of governors for the National Pro-Life Action Center (NPLAC), issued the following statement calling for the withdrawal of Harriet Miers' nomination as associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States: "The time has come for President Bush to realize and accept that his nomination of Harriet Miers to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court was ill-advised and he should withdraw her nomination. With 45 million children's lives lost to abortion, the stakes are simply too high to gamble on another 'stealth' candidate. If the president remains reluctant...

Stephen G. Peroutka, chairman of the board of governors for the National Pro-Life Action Center (NPLAC), issued the following response to President Bush’s nomination of Harriet Miers to replace Justice Sandra Day O’Connor: “Pro-life and pro-family conservatives supported President Bush’s campaign because he promised to appoint judges in the mold of Scalia and Thomas. With 45 million children’s lives lost to abortion, the on-going threat to the definition of marriage, and the continuing attack on the family itself, the stakes are too high to gamble on another ‘stealth’ candidate. “While Ms. Miers may be satisfactory to President Bush, there is...

In a December 16, 2004 National Review Online article "A Pro-Life Mistake" , Attorney Clark D. Forsythe of Americans United for Life recommended that State Legislators cease and desist in the introduction of legislation prohibiting abortion in their States. Attorney Forsythe counseled that since the Supreme Court is not pro-life (despite the fact that Republican Presidents appointed a super-majority, seven out of nine, of those Justices), it would be folly to introduce such legislation at this time. An old proverb comes to mind, "If not now, when?" On November 2, 2004, the American electorate voted into office a Republican President,...

Where's Christian/Conservative Outrage Over Gonzales' Support For Godless, Lawless Pro-Abortion Court Rulings? Dear Friends of the Constitutional Republic, The headline on a recent Joe Klein column in “Time” magazine (1/17/05) was “Where’s The Outrage?” He was writing about the Senate confirmation hearing of Judge Alberto Gonzales, President Bush’s choice to be the next Attorney General. Mr. Klein’s point was that there should have been outrage --- but wasn’t --- because Judge Gonzales “was complicit, at the very least, in the Bush Administration’s decision to use severe physical interrogation techniques on detainees at Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and elsewhere.” He complains that...

Dear Friends of the Constitutional Republic, The headline on a recent "New York Times" story (1/13/05) was definitely an eye-catcher. It read: "Kennedy Warns Democrats Not To Be Republican Clones." The story was reporting on a "defiant" speech at the National Press Club in Washington DC by Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) in which he warned his fellow Democrats not to become "Republican clones" in response to George Bush's re-election. Kennedy, accusing the White House of using "scare tactics" to try and push through changes in Social Security, is quoted as saying: "The biggest threat to Social Security today is not...

Dear Friends of the Republic,Reacting to the tsunami disaster from his Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas, President Bush said he and Laura were shocked and saddened by this terrible loss of life. He said: “We pledged an initial $35 million in relief assistance.” He noted, proudly, that in 2004, the U.S. Government had provided $2.4 billion in food, cash, in humanitarian relief, to cover disasters the previous year. He said that providing 40 percent of all the “relief aid” given in the world in 2003 shows “we’re a very generous, kindhearted nation.” “We?” Did Mr. Bush mean he and...

The real issue here is whether such so-called Federally-funded disaster “relief” is Constitutional. And the answer is very clear: No, it is not. There isn’t the slightest Constitutional authority for Federal tax dollars to be spent for disaster “relief.” Thus, any such expenditure of Federal tax dollars for disaster “relief” --- foreign or domestic --- is illegal, unlawful.

Barring unforeseen (and astonishing) developments, President Bush will take a step closer to reelection today as the 538 presidential electors meet in each of the state capitals and the District of Columbia. The electors will fill out ballots, which will be sealed in an envelope from each state and sent to Washington, to be opened on Jan. 6 by the president of the Senate, who will read the results before both houses of Congress. The swearing-in of the new (or, in this case, reelected) president will occur at noon on inauguration day, Jan. 20.

Dear third-party voter, A tragedy is about to occur. I am not talking about the tragedy, the unthinkable calamity that will befall America should John Kerry be elected president of the United States. That a person with a history of actual treason should become commander in chief of America's armed forces during wartime is more bizarre and terrifying than any "Manchurian Candidate" scenario Hollywood could concoct. No, I'm referring to a different tragedy. The tragedy that idealistic, patriotic, constitutionally minded Christian Americans very possibly will be the ones that actually turn over this nation to Kerry – a man who...

Dear ***** ******: George W. Bush IS going to WIN the state of SC on November 2. That's a FACT. This state is a "solid red" state. Bush. Don't get me wrong. I do NOT want John Kerry to win this...

September 11th forever changed my life and the way we live as Americans. It changed our politics and the issues that matter most. One thing it didn't change was the Constitution Party. For those who think that President George W. Bush is trying to run a campaign of traditional family values, a trip to Wednesday's third party debate might be in order. Peroutka believes that the focus of government ought to be to instill those rights. "The Constitution Party encourages faithful fathers and mothers to train their children to love God and serve others according to their own conscience and without the interference of unconstitutional federal programs," Peroutka explained. "Save the Buttercup" Peroutka, The Constitution Party, and the Win. God bless the United States Navy. Many a sailor will no doubt remember a training scenario oft times referred to as "Save the Buttercup." The Buttercup is essentially a huge empty water tank that looks like the inside of a ship's sleeping and work areas. The metal bulkheads (walls) have holes in them as...

Did you hear about Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich urging President Bush not to campaign in Maryland? He said it would be a waste of time, since the state is just about certain to go for Kerry. Democrats make the same argument to stop liberals from voting for candidates like Nader.
