Flamboyant American filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is scheduled to begin production on his new World War II movie “Inglorious Bastards” in Germany next week, to the consternation of leading German film critics. The movie stars Brad Pitt, who plays an American-Jewish army officer who after being freed from a German prisoner of war camp leads a group of fellow American-Jewish soldiers in a spree of gruesome revenge killings against Nazi soldiers and officers.

An unnamed charity could be £5m better off today after the birth of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's twins. The bidding war has already begun for the first photos of Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline who were born on Saturday night at a French hospital. French papers have reported that an American magazine has already offered $10m (£5m) for the exclusive images of the new babies - with all the money going to a worthy cause.

Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting of five Duquesne basketball players early Sunday. KDKA-TV said the alleged gunman was arrested overnight.
