[Video]Sen Burris Rewrites 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' To Push Health Care Reform.

Senator Roland Burriss decided he was going to pervert a treasured Christmas poem to push progressive health care reform. He bashed republicans and lauded over dems. He did this all while on the Senate floor. I'll throw up a transcript if I can find one. Here's the video: Sen. Burris Rewrites “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” To Push Health Care Reform. What do you think of Sen. Roland Burris' version?

Poetry on Senate Floor: Roland Burris, Kit Bond and the Night Before Health Reform

ABC News Z. Byron Wolf reports: The Senate has been in session every day in December and a final health reform vote is set for Christmas Eve. But with the Republicans filibuster of the health reform bill broken and both parties winding down the clock the debate on the Senate floor is getting loopy. Case in point -- Sen. Roland Burris, the Illinois Democrat who was controversially appointed to Barack Obama's Senate seat, set the debate as he sees it to rhyme -- specifically 'The Night Before Christmas' and read it on the Senate floor. It should be noted that...

Al Gore: Inventor of the internet; Nobel Laureate; Snorting, surly failed presidential candidate; angry, unhinged raving ranter, environmental pied piper. And now, poet??? Al Gore has written a poem. I'm not joking. Vanity Fair is gushing over it. Here are the funniest parts (I won't bore you with the whole thing; I want some readership left after this post):One thin September soon A floating continent disappears In midnight sun Vapors rise as Fever settles on an acid sea Neptune's bones dissolve The shepherd cries The hour of choosing has arrived Here are your tools Reverend Al has inspired me. Here...

Al Gore, Poet Laureate

In his almost 30 years of crusading against global warming, Al Gore has worn a variety of hats. In roughly chronological order these include: congressman, senator, author, vice president, traveling evangelist, filmmaker, investment adviser, and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Now, with the publication of his new book, Our Choice, Gore has unveiled a fresh and most unexpected talent: the book's opening chapter of concludes with a poem he wrote-21 lines of verse that are equal parts beautiful, evocative, and disturbing. Here is how the poem begins: One thin September soon A floating continent disappears In midnight sun Vapors rise as...

Historical Parallels & Intersections

In the United States, in the autumn of 2008, the Presidential election was decided on the hoopla of hope and change drenched in hyperbolic rhetoric which effectively drowned journalistic decorum to maintain any pretence at integrity. It put the Oval Office decisively lurching into a monopoly of power without any effective constraints in place. In short, the seeds of tyranny were safely and decisively planted. The jury is still out whether or not the 1986 Philippine Spring succeeded in vanquishing tyranny to nurture expanding liberty. The leading indicators point to a political governance being still in the clutches of a...

With the election of abortion-friendly President Obama, abortion advocates have been praising the return of “science” to issues of reproductive health. Conversely, I am an advocate for the health of the unborn and question what “science” has to do with abortion on demand. Attempts to rationalize the morality of the abortion issue with abortion advocates is a losing proposition when they believe in subjective morality, i.e. morality is defined by the majority or, in this case, by the loudest contingent of the population. Therefore, let’s evaluate the issue on a more scientific basis...
