A Little Freeper Vocabulary Help Please (Vanity Question)

I apologize in advance for my ignorance. I could not find anyplace on the site that gives a primer on certain vocabulary and abbreviations used. Specifically, I have no idea what "btt" means. I've picked up other franguage such as "hugh" and "series" but "btt" escapes me. Thanks for the heads up.

Can I Do This (Vanity)

Hey guys..and gals. I haven't posted on FR in some time. I've been traveling for a good portion of the year. But, the $700 billion bailout has gotten my attention, so I wanted to post something. I have never posted a vanity before now and don't want to risk my Member in Good Standing status with this question. But, I'll never know unless I try. Are we allowed to promote personal websites on here? If I had an idea for a product that I felt my fellow Freepers would enjoy, could I direct you to the website with the guarantee...

Define Loyalty

I've been getting grief for not supporting John McCain. Some may say, in fact, I'm being dangerous or petty at the expense of our nation by not being a dutiful Republican. As if surely any Republican President is better than any Democrat President. Most will say that it's selfish to just let Obama win the White House simply because I differ from our nominee. What with a more-than-likely Democrat House and Senate, stepping aside and letting Obama win will shut us totally out of power and give him free reign to do as he pleases, after all. They ask: Where...

Points/Questions McCain needs to bring up in the economic debate

If any of you have contacts with higher ups in the McCain camp, PLEASE let them see these points/questions that McCain should bring up in the economic debate. It is imperative that he perform better in the debate entirely on economics. Questions he should try to nail Obama on to produce specifics: 1) What is the maximum percentage of income that a person should pay in taxes to government? I'd love to see Obama squirm in trying to answer that. 2) Why are you in favor of increasing the capital gain tax when it decreases federal government revenues? 3) How...

Freerepublic.com Election Night Backup Plan

Given how slow FR has been for the past few weeks and now seemingly to slow to a grind, I can't imagine the site being of any use on election night. The traffic would just crush it, especially if it can't handle the current load. Is there a backup plan? Is the old Yahoo site still up and running?

Views/Hits are gone...Suggestions? (FR Help)

Any ideas why the Views: stat is missing? I like the stat so I can see when a topic has had a lot of FR interest even if replies aren't high. I checked computers in 3 locations and none of them showed views. I did a search for "views" and find 1 posting from 3/05 about Views - it vanished before and may not be a universal problem. Also, tried clicking on "Activity" as someone there indicated and some threads have views and others don't.

What does the Obama campaign hope to gain by admonishing the older generation for less use of computers than the younger generations? In addition, John McCain has reduced use of his arms due to his war injuries. Does Obama want to be critical of all handicapped persons, or just John Mccain?

Bye, Bye, Biden... John Walker After being the media love-child for much of 19-months, Barack Obama has seen what may be his biggest setback of the campaign so far. Media outlets this week are releasing new polling numbers showing Obama’s campaign down between four and 10 points to Republican running mates John McCain and Sarah Palin. Obama is widely known as the one that beat presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in a heated primary season that went down literally to the very last state. Since that time, Obama has worked to unify his party and ticket behind his message. Getting...

Reelect Nobody in Congress

Make certain you vote on Nov 4, BUT...DON’T REELECT ANYONE in Congress! Congress is dominated by frauds who only want a cushy job with no boss or accountability. At the heart of this problem, is the growth of a class of career politicians, whose only purpose is to be reelected forever, not to govern well. We, the voters, have it within our power to easily destroy these career politicians, and to never let them rise again. All we have to do is ALWAYS VOTE, BUT REELECT NOBODY! Wow! That’s a pretty drastic idea! Soon we would wind up with only...

(Vanity) Is the boycott on AP articles still in force?

On the 17th of June, our esteemed founder, JimRob, made the following statement: Boycott AP! We don't need their steenking liberal propaganda anyway. This statement was made in response to a new "fair use" statement made for bloggers that stated that the AP's version of 'fair use' was a five word extract and that the AP reserved editorial control over any blog entry that dared even use those five fair words. Due to the ubiquitousness of the AP, it was not possible to simply add "ap.org" to the list of exerpt only sites; it depended largely upon the diligence of...

It appears that I post something --I make sure to INCLUDE its source...it is NOT offensive or obscene--and you immediately remove iit....( in this case a portion of a thread i found illuminating from Hillaryclintonforum.net) this happens constantly....and is very frustrating....the "free" in free republic does not appear to hold---perhaps a clarification of your increasingly rigid rules would help? The parameters are so narrow some good content is being unilaterally struck....PLEASE EXPLAIN so that i can contribute in a way that allows my points to be seen. Thank you.
