  • We're Witnessing Two Institutions Disintegrate Right Before Our Eyes

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: When the program was over yesterday, I told Snerdley, "You know, I needed three more hours." The stuff that we didn't get to yesterday was just overflowing, the audio sound bites, and it has given me a new resolve. We're loaded again today. It's just incredible. We're watching the disintegration of two institutions right in front of our eyes, and we're all wondering, are we the only ones who see it? We're watching the disintegration of a presidency. We are looking at blatant, uncompromised incompetence. And we are witnessing corruption of another institution, the so-called mainstream media....

This has been an extremely disquieting day, for several reasons.  First and foremost, the US Ambassador to Libya was murdered in cold blood last night, along with three other diplomats -- and horrifying images of the carnage are being beamed around the world.  A few basic facts via Reuters:   The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three embassy staff were killed in an attack on the Benghazi consulate and a safe house refuge, stormed by Islamist gunmen blaming America for a film they said insulted the Prophet Mohammad. Gunmen had attacked and set fire to the U.S. consulate in the...

Reporters are barking like mad dogs in their rage to hurt Romney, bombarding him with questions about his strong denunciation of the attacks yesterday and Obama's craven apology to the Muslim world. 'Do you feel you were wrong when you denounced the attacks yesterday?' 'Do you feel you were unfair to President Obama in your remarks?' 'How would a President Romney have acted?' Disgusting.

At 8:46 AM, in New York City and at the White House in Washington DC, there was a moment of silence to remember when the first plane hit the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In New York, the NYPD, FDNY, Port Authority Police and the families of the victims were present, while in Washington the President and the First Lady led the moment. The cable networks all carried it, with ABCs Good Morning America and CBS This Morning carrying it as well. Fareed looks at why the optimistic Republican Party of Ronald Reagan seems to have swapped places with the glum Democratic Party of the 1970s and 1980s. Today it is the Republican Party that often seems angry with America, Fareed says. Read the best-selling books by conservatives these days, watch Fox News or attend a Tea Party rally. They are filled with rage, often combined with a powerful nostalgia for an America that has gone away.

Voters will have to decide how much to ding Republican vice presidential nominee Paul D. Ryan for slamming President Obama on a debt reduction commission, when Ryan made the same judgment himself with a vote in Congress. That kind of inconsistency is easy to prove, if a bit arcane for some Americans. But there is nothing mysterious to the athletically-inclined about marathon times, so it will be interesting to see how the public reacts to Ryan carving a huge hunk out of his best time for the 26.2-mile race.

The word "terrorism" in the United States usually brings to mind plots linked in some way to al Qaeda, while the danger posed to the public by white supremacists, anti-abortion extremists and other right-wing militants is often overlooked. Militants linked to al Qaeda or inspired by jihadist ideology have carried out four terrorist attacks in the United States since September 11, which have resulted in 17 deaths. Thirteen of them were in a shooting incident at Fort Hood, Texas, in November 2009. By contrast, right-wing extremists have committed at least eight lethal terrorist attacks in the United States that have...

Fractures in conservative opposition to gay rights and even same-sex marriage have now widened to include the core of the rights message machine, the Fox News Channel, where a cadre of younger voices have begun to defend same-sex relationships and even advocate openly for same-sex marriage. (snip) Smith is the most notable and frequent example to buck Fox News regular party line on the issue. But the same week that Smith described Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day, organized by fellow Fox host Mike Huckabee, as a national day of intolerance, Kelly joined Smith on his side of the gay marriage debate .......
  • Sandra Fluke, Called A 'Slut' By Rush Limbaugh, To Introduce Obama At Denver Rally

Sandra Fluke will introduce President Obama at a campaign event in Denver on Wednesday, a further sign that the incumbent's re-election team is putting a heavy emphasis on women's issues. Fluke, a Georgetown student, testified before Congress earlier this year in favor of health insurance granting coverage of contraception. Her stance was cheered by women's rights advocates and many on the left -- but denounced by conservative outlets, including the influential radio host. Limbaugh slurred the 31-year-old student as a "slut" and a "prostitute," creating a frenzy that led some of his advertisers to abandon him. While Limbaugh later apologized,...

Since the official end of the Great Recession, America's public sector has shrunk. And shrunk. And shrunk some more. We've said goodbye to about 600,000 government jobs, handing the economy a nasty self-inflicted wound in the process. But how small has our public sector really become? Here's one way to think about it: Compared to our population, it hasn't been this size since 1968. Your dreams are coming true Baby Boomers. We're almost all the way back to the Summer of Love! First, credit where it's due. The Hamilton Project has produced a beautiful graph illustrating the government employment to...
  • Boy Scout files reveal repeat child abuse by sexual predators [LA Slimes Hit Piece]

For nearly a century, the Boy Scouts of America has relied on a confidential blacklist known as the "perversion files" as a crucial line of defense against sexual predators. Scouting officials say they've used the files to prevent hundreds of men who had been expelled for alleged sexual abuse from returning to the ranks. They've fought hard in court to keep the records from public view, saying confidentiality was needed to protect victims, witnesses and anyone falsely accused. "It is a fact that Scouts are safer because the barrier created by these files is real," Scouts Chief Executive Robert Mazzuca...

For several years now it seems to me that voters throughout the country in a perfectly peaceable way have demonstrated their revulsion at the ruling class's political , academic and media elites, and the media's disparagement or utter refusal to cover this civil revolution has not succeeded in killing it. Instead, as more people join in and see how the media distorts or refuses to report what they see with their own eyes, the sooner all of the major media will be joining Newsweek and CNN and the NYT and the Washington Post in their death throes. (This week it...
  • Pew: Obama has big lead; Romney favorability drops (D +19)

New polling data out from Pew Research Center finds President Obama with a double-digit lead over Mitt Romney nationally: Currently, 51% say they support Obama or lean toward him, while 41% support or lean toward Romney. This is largely unchanged from earlier in July and consistent with polling over the course of this year. Across eight Pew Research Center surveys since January, Obama has led Romney by between four and 12 percentage points. Obama holds only a four-point edge (48% to 44%) across 12 of this years key battleground states. While the data does not allow a state-by-state analysis, the...

President Barack Obama has one of the biggest leads we've seen for him in quite a long time in a new Pew Research Poll: He's up 10 points over Mitt Romney. Don't take much from it, though. Pew's sample of registered voters is highly skewed, oversampling Democrats by almost 20 points. Pew surveyed 1,956 registered voters. Of those, 42 percent were Democrats and just 23 percent were Republicans. We can't remember a poll being that imbalanced. Pew's poll in June also slightly oversampled Democrats and gave Obama a 7-point lead. So what we can take from this is that Independents...

Ann Romney says the Obama campaigns strategy for this race is: Kill Romney. She's absolutely right. A year ago the Barack Obama regime decided upon a plot for this re-election Unless things change and Obama can run on accomplishments, he will have to kill Romney, said a prominent Democratic strategist aligned with the White House. The press is now in full "Kill Romney" mode. There is no reporting. There is harassment, there are insults and there is derision and scorn. Washington Post, NY Times, CNN and of course MSNBC/NBC are all in the tank for Obama. And they're gonna...

Gay rights activists are planning to hold on Friday a "national same-sex kiss day at Chick-fil-A," the restaurant chain whose president's opposition to same-sex marriage sparked a media frenzy. "Let's show Chick-fil-A thanks for their support of Love, Equality, and the Real Definition of Marriage!" organizers posted on their Facebook page. Same-sex couples are expected to arrive at restaurants across the country and kiss in protest, then post video or photos of the event on social media. But on Wednesday, throngs of others weighed in on the Chick-fil-A debate, buying chicken sandwiches at stores to show their support of the...
