April 2, 2012   Monday of Holy Week   Reading 1 Is 42:1-7 Here is my servant whom I uphold,my chosen one with whom I am pleased,Upon whom I have put my Spirit;he shall bring forth justice to the nations,Not crying out, not shouting, not making his voice heard in the street.A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoldering wick he shall not quench,Until he establishes justice on the earth;the coastlands will wait for his teaching. Thus says God, the LORD,who created the heavens and stretched them out,who spreads out the earth with its crops,Who gives breath to its...

Whoever Exalts Himself Will Be Humbled… Mar 6th, 2012by Gary Zimak.  …but whoever humbles himself will be exalted. (Matthew 23:12)Whether it involves our practice of attending daily Mass, praying the rosary or performing charitable acts, the Lord’s words are clear. Being Catholic involves A LOT more than just thoughts and words. While all of these spiritual practices are essential parts of our faith, we have to remember that we’re also called to LOVE and SERVE one another. Jesus gave us the supreme example of what it means to serve. One of the best ways to serve is to SHARE what...

Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying: “I will sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! 2. Helpful or Heartless Toward Others? "It is Christ . . . who also makes intercession for us. . . . the Spirit . . . makes intercession for the saints . . ." —Romans 8:34, 27 Do we need any more arguments than these to become intercessors-that Christ “always lives to make intercession” (Hebrews 7:25), and that the Holy Spirit “makes intercession for the saints”? Are we living in such a relationship with others that we do the work of intercession as a result of being the children of God who are taught by His Spirit? We should take...

Hello everyone- Very scary day over here. My 39 yr old wife suffered an instaneous, out of the blue headache this morning and collapsed. Apparently this is referred to as a "thunderclap" headache, and at the ER she later began exhibiting signs of seizure: right side of her body wouldn't respond, and she could not answer some basic questions- though later she told me that she knew the answers, but could not make her mouth form the words. Nikki is now feeling better, and has recovered her speech and motor functions completely. They've ruled out aneurism,'hemorrageand stroke; However, the doctors...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem The Book Of Exodus Chapter 14 The Red Sea Crossing 1 Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn and camp before Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, opposite Baal Zemphon; you shall camp before it by the sea. 3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, ‘They are bewildered by the land; the wilderness has closed them in.’ 4 Then I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he will pursue them; and I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over...

Heedfulness or Hypocrisy in Ourselves? "If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death" —1 John 5:16 If we are not heedful and pay no attention to the way the Spirit of God works in us, we will become spiritual hypocrites. We see where other people are failing, and then we take our discernment and turn it into comments of ridicule and criticism, instead of turning it into intercession on their behalf. God reveals this truth...

Holiness or Hardness Toward God? "He . . . wondered that there was no intercessor . . ." —Isaiah 59:16 The reason many of us stop praying and become hard toward God is that we only have an emotional interest in prayer. It sounds good to say that we pray, and we read books on prayer which tell us that prayer is beneficial— that our minds are quieted and our souls are uplifted when we pray. But Isaiah implied in this verse that God is amazed at such thoughts about prayer.Worship and intercession must go together; one is impossible...

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12. Our Lord’s Surprise Visits "You also be ready . . ." —Luke 12:40 A Christian worker’s greatest need is a readiness to face Jesus Christ at any and every turn. This is not easy, no matter what our experience has been. This battle is not against sin, difficulties, or circumstances, but against being so absorbed in our service to Jesus Christ that we are not ready to face Jesus Himself at every turn. The greatest need is not facing our beliefs or doctrines, or even facing the question of whether or not we are of any use to Him,...
