The Place of Humiliation "If You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us" —Mark 9:22 After every time of exaltation, we are brought down with a sudden rush into things as they really are, where it is neither beautiful, poetic, nor thrilling. The height of the mountaintop is measured by the dismal drudgery of the valley, but it is in the valley that we have to live for the glory of God. We see His glory on the mountain, but we never live for His glory there. It is in the place of humiliation that we...

Pray For the Salvation of America My fellow Freepers, It is a very serious time in our nation's history and our future looks very uncertain and every day the news is full of stories that cause us to fear as it looks like we are teetering towards the edge of a cliff. It is quite obvious to even the casual observer that our great country is under a tremendous spiritual assault by the forces of darkness and hell that is causing great distress to many across this land and in other free nations. This is largely our own fault as...

The Place of Exaltation ". . . Jesus took . . . them up on a high mountain apart by themselves . . ." —Mark 9:2 We have all experienced times of exaltation on the mountain, when we have seen things from God’s perspective and have wanted to stay there. But God will never allow us to stay there. The true test of our spiritual life is in exhibiting the power to descend from the mountain. If we only have the power to go up, something is wrong. If you are able to tell exactly where you were when you received the call of God and can explain all about it, I question whether you have truly been called. The call of God does not come like that; it is much more supernatural. The realization of the call in a person’s life may come like...

The last update was that the medical folks caring for Alex would like to see him on a plane back to a hospital here in the states by Friday. Thanks for joining me in prayers for this young man and his family. When they...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem Jerusalem In The Scriptures Psalm 128 A song of ascents. 1. Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. 2. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. 3. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. 4. Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord. 5. May the Lord bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days...

The “Go” of Preparation " If you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift " —Matthew 5:23-24 It is easy for us to imagine that we will suddenly come to a point in our lives where we are fully prepared, but preparation is not suddenly accomplished. In fact, it is a process that must be steadily maintained. It is dangerous to become settled and complacent in...

Psalm 139:17,18 How Precious it is, Lord, to Realize that You are Thinking about me Constantly. I can't Even Count How many Times a Day Your Thoughts Turn Towards me. And when I Awaken in the Morning, You are still Thinking of me.

This is the sixth and final post in my blog series, titled: The Price of Liberty. If you’re just now starting the series, you can begin with the first post here. During the middle of the nineteenth century, spiritual conditions in the United States deteriorated considerably. Conditions were quite different then because the nation had moved away from its early days of godliness. Moreover, people became obsessed with making money, and as they prospered they turned their backs on God. Then a man named Jeremiah Lanphier began a prayer meeting in the upper room of the Dutch Reformed Church in...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem Jerusalem In The Scriptures Psalm 122 A song of ascents. 1. Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. 2. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore. 3. The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil. 4. Lord, do good to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart. 5. But those who turn to...

The Missionary’s Goal "He . . . said to them, ’Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem . . . ’ " —Luke 18:31 In our natural life our ambitions change as we grow, but in the Christian life the goal is given at the very beginning, and the beginning and the end are exactly the same, namely, our Lord Himself. We start with Christ and we end with Him—”. . . till we all come . . . to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ . . .” (Ephesians 4:13), not simply to our...
