In a claim certain to prick the interest of followers of archaeology and mythology everywhere, the head of Bulgaria's National History Museum has said that an ancient temple to the Greek god Priapus has been found in the Black Sea town of Sozopol. National History Museum chief Bozhidar Dimitrov, who hails from Sozopol, said that archaeologists had found a clay phallus inscribed "to Priapus" during a dig in the Black Sea town, which in the past 24 months has boasted everything from the finding of the purported hand bones of Christian saint John the Baptist to a temple to Poseidon....

A Chinese farmer who pulled a bizarrely shaped root out of the ground has said he will not part with his plant. The root, from the He Shou Wu plant, was unearthed in southern China by local farmer Lu Chen. No doubt he was shocked when he pulled the root from the ground due to its resemblance to a human being, albeit with an overgrown appendage. The root is often used in Chinese medicine to rejuvenate virility and strength and Lu Chen believes the obscene shaping of the root is a sign his farm will produce a good harvest next...

Pope John Paul II -- one of history's very most memorable -- took a great leap toward sainthood today when he was beatified by close associate and successor Benedict XVI in a huge, powerful, emotional ceremony attended by hundreds of thousands -- not as many as the three million who attended his funeral, but one of the largest beatifications in history. With the faithful cheering wildly, Benedict declared the Polish pope "blessed" -- the fastest beatification on record, beating out even the rapid pace of Mother Teresa of Calcutta (by several days).

Al Gore has a new boat and even it is green. The boat is docked at Hurricane Marina on Center Hill Lake in Smithville, about 70 miles east of Nashville. While it doesn't have solar panels yet, a spokesperson at Gore's office told News 2 they are scheduled to be installed Wednesday. The boat is named Bio-Solar One and has been called the "Toyota Prius of boats"...

PROVIDENCE, R.I. // A former handyman has won more than $400,000 in a lawsuit over a penile implant that gave him a 10-year erection. Charles "Chick" Lennon, 68, received the steel and plastic implant in 1996, about two years before Viagra went on the market. The Dura-II is designed to allow impotent men to position the penis upward for sex, then lower it. But Lennon could not position his penis downward. He said he could no longer hug people, ride a bike, swim or wear bathing trunks because of the pain and embarrassment. He has become a recluse and is...
