  • Pelosi to reporter: Do not identify my former colleague as my former colleague!

Nancy Pelosi has been quiet about accusations against former House member and San Diego Mayor Bob Filner. But at least the House Minority Leader is being helpful enough to give reporters instructions about how to explain her past working relationship with Filner: Don’t: Democrats who accused Republicans of being anti-women during last year’s campaign are strangely silent now that one of their own — San Diego Mayor Bob Filner — is accused of groping and sexually assaulting women. “Don’t identify him as my former colleague,” an agitated House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi reportedly said Thursday night when asked about the...

Congressman Allen West is being hammered for his comments alleging that certain Democratic members of Congress are communists. It's the kind of accusation (West is not backing down) that sets liberals seething in rage. An even worse sin was that West dared to quantify his accusation, attaching a number to the alleged Reds. He said there are "78 to 81" Congressional Democrats who are communists. Naturally, all of this is a huge no-no, reflexively sending liberals into fits and shouts of "McCarthyism!" I want to say three things relating to West's remarks: First, some criticism of West's critics. Second, a...

Brown: Is Progressivism the new Communism? In politics, truth-telling can get you into trouble, even if you stumble upon it by accident. Just ask Rep. Allen West (R-FL). West is feeling the heat for a pregnant pause he took during a town hall meeting after he was asked "What percentage of the American legislature do you think are card-carrying Marxists or International Socialists?" "It's a good question," West responded, "I believe there's [sic] about 78 to 81 members of the Democrat Party who are members of the Communist Party. (Long pause) "They don't actually hide. It's called the Congressional Progressive...

Allen West’s comments that there are nearly 80 Communists in the House just won’t go away. And CNN is making sure of that. CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien, for example, had a testy exchange with West on Thursday morning, confronting him on the remarks and demanding he “name names.” From the beginning, O’Brien was combative, vehemently disagreeing with Allen West regarding Ted Nugent’s controversial recent comments. Then they turned to West’s own remarks. After playing the clip, O’Brien asked him about it, and West said that Communists have “renamed themselves progressive” but the ideology has stayed the same. Mediaite picks it...

Rep. Allen West Says There Are Communists in Congress; Is He Right? At a town hall meeting in Palm City, Florida, on April 10, Tea Party favorite Representative Allen West (R-Fla.) informed the audience that there are Communists in Congress. In response to the question “What percentage of the American legislature do you think are card carrying Marxists, Internationalists, or Socialists?” West claimed that there are: “78 to 81 members of the Democrat Party that are members of the Communist party.”   When asked if they hide it, West responded, “No, they actually don’t hide it, it’s called the Congressional...

Rep. Allen West’s comments about alleged communists in Congress have led to what West calls “A lot of buzz and inaccurate reporting” in the media. Some reporters have nitpicked West on whether he has concrete proof of actual card-carrying members of the Communist Party USA in the Congress. According to the Post, West was talking to Jensen Beach voters this week when he said President Barack Obama was “scared” to have a discussion with him. They lined up dozens deep to tell of their economic struggles and to plead for help from the four Democrats lawmakers on the stage. A single mother laid off in 2009; an electrician who has worked only six of the past 24 months; a janitor locked out of her job over a medical-benefits dispute; and many more -- the frustration was palpable at the "Speak Out for Good Jobs Now!" town hall meeting that Rep. In yet another scheme to radically transform our country, progressives have quietly carried out their plan to incrementally disenfranchise citizens and grant extraordinary voting rights to non-citizens. This is accomplished by challenging requirements to prove citizenship when registering to vote and replacing the "one man, one vote" principle with proportional voting, a voting method promoted by the far-left Congressional Progressive Caucus as one of their progressive promises to America. A review of a recent lawsuit filed against the small Village of Port Chester in New York illustrates how the left's strategy to undermine the most fundamental tenet of a representative...

AIDS is wiping out half a continent; abortions take more than a million lives a year, and countless STDs negatively impact the health our sex-crazed culture. 29 April 2002 Fidel Castro and Yasser Arafat: Partners in TerrorBy Agustin Blazquez with the collaboration of Jaums SuttonIn 1941, as a student at a Catholic school run by Spanish Jesuit priests who were sympathizers of Fascism at that time, the young Fidel Castro was looking for his ideology.Displaying a fascination with power, war and domination since childhood, Castro discovered Fascism -- and promenaded around campus with a copy of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf in his armpit.According to many fellow students, "the crazy," as he was nicknamed, mimicked the speeches of Hitler and Mussolini speeches in front of a mirror,...

I've been looking at the Progressive Caucus, and how they fared during the election. Their website lists 59 members - 56 Representatives, 1 Senator, and two non-voting delegates. Out of the 57 real members, 52 will be returning next session. Of the five who will not be, two are deceased (Paul Wellstone and Patsy Mink), one decided to run for governor (David Bonior), and two were defeated in primaries (Earl Hilliard and Cynthia McKinney). The vast majority won their races, and will be returning. A disturbingly large number of them ran without opposition. We have to better than this!

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the likely new minority leader in the House of Representatives, serves on the executive committee of the socialist-leaning Progressive Caucus, a bloc of about 60 votes or nearly 30 percent of the minority vote in the lower chamber. Until 1999, the website of the Progressive Caucus was hosted by the Democratic Socialists of America. Following an expose of the link between the two organizations in WorldNetDaily, the Progressive Caucus established its own website under the auspices of Congress. Another officer of the Progressive Caucus, and one of its guiding lights, is avowed socialist Rep. Bernie Sanders,...

As most readers of this newsletter know, we believe in calling things what they are, in plain English, and in such a way that there is no doubt in what we mean. So we haven't been using words like duplicitous, deceitful and devious when describing the Democrats in Congress. Instead, when they act like socialists (as do some Republicans), socialists is what we call them. There is a very good reason for this socialist tag, too. We are far from being alone in this assessment. Specifically, we find the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) in total agreement. First, though, a...
