Electronic Attack Squadron 135 is scheduled to arrive home at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station this weekend after spending six months at sea aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. The U.S. Navy jets are set to arrive at noon Saturday, while support and maintenance personnel will come home at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, base officials said. The “Black Ravens” fly and maintain EA-6B radar-jamming jets, and were used to support ground troops in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Vietnam-era Navy plane takes aim at new enemy: Iraq's roadside bombs

ABOARD THE USS NIMITZ IN THE GULF – A secret aircraft that debuted in Vietnam and usually protects U.S. fighter jets has taken on a different and crucial task over Iraq – trying to stop the scourge of roadside bombs by jamming ground signals from mobile phones and garage door openers. The EA-6B Prowler is thought to be one of the most effective U.S. weapons against the bombs, the biggest killer of American service members in Iraq. But no one can be sure: Even supporters say its effectiveness is hard to measure. The aircraft debuted at the tail end of...

Machete-Wielding Man Chases Prowler Suspects

PORT ST. JOHN, Fla. -- A machete-wielding man chased off three young men from a wooded lot near his house Thursday, trapping one of them up a tree before sheriff’s deputies arrived. Luke Weinstein said he stepped outside his house on Kings Highway to have his first cigarette of the day when he spotted the men lurking in the shrubs of a vacant lot across the street. He yelled at them and started after them, then ran back into his garage to grab his machete. Wearing nothing but a pair of black shorts, a barefooted Weinstein chased the trio into...

Eating Dirt (Democrats try to play dirty against Alito even while knowing they'll get nowhere.)

Kudos to the fellows at Red State and Townhall, who nailed DNC dirty tricksters for their sliming of SCOTUS nominee Samuel Alito. Red State got hold of a Word document from the DNC oppo researchers, which included embedded data that showed who worked on it. Based on their research, a couple of low level flunkies pulled the dirt together, while one Devorah Adler did the polish. And who might she be? Clinton White House documents reveal that she was one of Bruce Reed's deputies on domestic policy back when the Democrats ran the White House. She served as Associate Director...

Anatomy of a Forgery

More than six weeks ago, an opposition research staffer for the Democratic National Committee received documents purportedly written by President George W. Bush's Texas Air National Guard squadron commander, the late Col. Jerry Killian.

The oppo researcher claimed the source was "a retired military officer." According to a DNC staffer, the documents were seen by both senior staff members at the DNC, as well as the Kerry campaign.

Navy using radar-jamming planes to fire missiles in risky new strategy

ABOARD THE USS KITTY HAWK (AP) - Slow-moving and packed with electronic equipment, the Prowler radar-jamming plane usually stays clear of battle. But with the campaign against Baghdad's defenses heating up, the Prowlers are joining in the strikes. It's a risk for the vulnerable aircraft, but their crews say they've been eager to get into the fight. "It's about time," said Lt. Doug Graber, an electronic warfare officer who was on a EA-6B Prowler that fired a missile Saturday -- the second strike by a Prowler from the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk in two days. Prowlers usually stay...
