"The 9:59 video entitled "Burning Down the House: What Caused Our Economic Crisis" played four different songs under a fast moving video sequence that very clearly tied Democrats like Chris Dodd, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson and Barack Obama to policies and corruption related to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It cleverly showed how the "affordable mortgage" programs sent an economic virus through the entire economy and showed Republican efforts to intervene and regulate being blocked." "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Warner Music Group" You Tube pulls a popular anti-Democrat video off the web...

Just a general query; when Jesse Jackson said he wanted to cut Obama's nuts off, wasn't he recalling a time when black men were lynched? I remember reading history and when such terrible events happened, black men were treated in just the way Jesse suggested. So would it be fair to say Jesse Jackson has done the equivalent of hanging a noose? I can imagine what the press would be doing today if John McCain had said he wanted to cut Obama's nuts off. Any thoughts?

We have another thing about which to worry. I saw this photo from the Hillary sort of concession speech today and wondered. Yes, a cell gunphone exists. At these rallies, people get very close to the candidates and, in this case, a former impeached president. What if this had been a weapon? Do they take the time to actually x-ray your cell phone? This is pretty scary technology. Hitting the 5, 6, 7 and 8 buttons on the gunphone fires four .22 caliber rounds in quick succession. VIDEO AT THIS LINK At first sight it looks like a regular cell...

£1m mosque beams pulled from auction in ownership row By Stephanie Condron (Filed: 04/04/2006) Christie's has cancelled the sale of five wooden beams from the 1,200-year-old mosque in Cordoba in Spain which were expected to fetch more than £1 million at auction today. Lawyers for one of the most important Islamic buildings in the West successfully blocked the sale of the 10th century beams amid arguments over who owns them. The sale, which was to be the highlight of the Islamic art manuscripts auction today, was to have seen each carved beam reach bids of up to £300,000. "I am...

A judge said this week he is likely to drop five of eight former city and pension officials from a lawsuit San Diego City Attorney Michael Aguirre filed in an effort to roll back pension benefits he contends the retirement board illegally approved. Superior Court Judge Steven R. Denton issued a tentative ruling Thursday removing the five officials from a lawsuit Aguirre filed in July. The lawsuit accuses the eight officials of violating the state's Political Reform Act and contends they had conflicts of interest that should invalidate their role in crafting or approving pension benefit increases in 1996 and...

WASHINGTON, March 5, 2006 – The Iraqi people responded to terrorist outrages by pulling back from the abyss of a civil war, Marine Gen. Peter Pace said on NBC's Meet the Press today. Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the February 22 bombing of the Golden Mosque in Samarra, was an act of desperation on the part of the terrorists. The growth of democracy and the political progress leaders of the country are making in forming a government has made terrorists desperate. "So desperate that they would destroy one of their own most sacred shrines in...

Credentials of Va. Journalists Pulled NORFOLK, Va. — The military this week revoked the press credentials of a Norfolk newspaper writer and photographer who were reporting from Kuwait, saying they had violated ground rules by photographing battle-damaged military vehicles. Denis Finley, editor of The Virginian-Pilot, wrote a letter Friday protesting the Army's confiscation of the badges that allowed reporter Lou Hansen and photographer Hyunsoo Leo Kim to interview and photograph service members. "Yes, they signed an agreement, but the Navy brought them to the site and allowed them to take pictures," Finley said in an article the paper published Friday....

An ornately sculpted mirror of polished bronze is one masterpiece among the 250,000 artefacts recovered over the last 18 months from a boat that sank off Indonesia's shores in the 10th century. On a small mould is written the word "Allah" in beautiful Arabic script, on top of a lid...

Just a quick question to the Moderators. Why was the Christopher Reeve thread last night pulled after 400+ posts? And why was today's thread locked after just 5 posts? It sucks to be involved in a discussion and then have the thread pulled or locked, with the reason being, "Pulled" or "Locked". I understand you guys have a job to do, but can't you type in a few more characters to give us a "Why" it was pulled. I mean, there's a place for "Reason" there anyway, why not use it?

GOP wants Daschle-Bush hug pulled By Denise Ross, Journal Staff Writer Last Updated: Thursday, September 2, 2004 8:14 AM MDT The Republican National Committee doesn't want to see that warm embrace shared by President Bush and Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., eight days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. At least they don't want to see it in Daschle's re-election TV ad that went on the air a week ago. An RNC lawyer fired off a "cease and desist" missive to the Daschle campaign Tuesday afternoon. "You are using the picture in a manner that could create the misleading impression...
