    American activist Rachel Corrie was killed in Gaza ten years ago today. The International Solidarity Movement write this message in her memory. Rachel, a 23 year old woman from Olympia, Washington, was crushed to death by an Israeli army bulldozer on the 16th March 2003, whilst protesting non-violently against the demolition of a Palestinian house by Israeli forces.     JERUSALEM — Nine years after their daughter was crushed by an Israeli military bulldozer in the Gaza Strip, the parents of American activist Rachel Corrie lost their legal bid Tuesday to hold Israel responsible for her death and force authorities to reopen the investigation. A Haifa judge rejected the parent's negligence lawsuit, calling Corrie's death an accident that she brought upon herself by refusing to leave what had been declared a closed military zone. "It was a very regrettable accident and not a deliberate act," said Judge Oded Gershon.

    Iranian Press TV reports that a conference is to be held in Tehran today, March 14, to mark the anniversary of the 2003 death of American activist Rachel Corrie. The conference is titled "Which rights, which human, which American?" The report quotes Mehdi Foroutan, the director of the Enqelab Eslami (Islamic Revolution) Cultural Center, as saying that the conference will include representatives from 30 NGOs who are gathering "to condemn the inhumane killing of the American peace activist at the hands of the Israeli regime."
