...Syndicated cartoonist Ted Rall is no stranger to controversy. After drawing a cartoon critical of some 9/11 widows capitalizing on their husbands' deaths, about 40 firefighters with axes from the local firehouse gathered outside Rall's Upper West Side apartment, screaming and hollering. It took a friend showing up to take pictures of the public servants to get them to disperse. This unnerved Rall, because if the people who are supposed to be protecting you end up attacking you, where else can you go for protection? "Firefighters are psychotic," Rall said. "They don't work hard, and every five years or so...

"Why are we talking about this in the White House?" John Ashcroft nervously asked his fellow members of the National Security Council's Principals Committee. (The Principals were Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Colin Powell, CIA Director George Tenet and Attorney General Ashcroft.) "History will not judge this kindly," Ashcroft predicted. "This" is torture. Against innocent people. Conducted by CIA agents and American soldiers and marines. Sanctioned by legal opinions issued by Ashcroft's Justice Department. Directly ordered by George W. Bush.

NEW YORK--Five years after the Republicans got us into war against Iraq, Democrats want to double down on a war that's even more unjustifiable and unwinnable--the one against Afghanistan. By any measure, U.S. troops and their NATO allies are getting their asses kicked in the country that Reagan's CIA station chief for Pakistan called "the graveyard of empires." Afghanistan currently produces a record 93 percent of the world's opium. Suicide bombers are killing more U.S.-aligned troops than ever. Stonings are back. The Taliban and their allies, "defeated" in 2001, control most of the country--and may recapture the capital of Kabul...

Unhinged cartoonist Ted Rall is throwing another troop-bashing tantrum. Normally, I would not feed this troll. But I agree with Noel Sheppard that this has to be the worst of the worst. Click for larger image–and make sure you do it on an empty stomach: Rall is beyond contempt. He has accused our troops of being murderers for Halliburton, mocked soldiers as sexual deviants, and derided the late Pat Tillman as an “idiot” and “sap”. Now, all in one cartoon, he shows his naked contempt for the very traits of the American soldier that helped give birth to this country...

You know for people who are always going on and on about fascism, liberals certainly do seem to be comfortable with certain fascist tactics as long as they're directed at the "right" people. Take popular liberal cartoonist Ted Rall, for instance, who has this to say on his blog: * * * "A reader responding to my column "When is a Win Not a Win?" from a few weeks ago has sent me a persuasive case for banning the Republican Party. As in making it illegal for the GOP to hold meetings or run for office. Forever. "It's not as...

This thread is an update on Rall's attempt to sue Ann Coulter. Rall now says he does want to sue Coulter for a joke she made about him, but it's going to cost a lot of money. He previously asked for cash just for the filing. He now wants a whole lot more cash to pursue legal action. He's asking for donations, since (surprise, surprise) his lawyer won't work on a contingency basis. The strong of stomach can read the whole thing at http://www.tedrall.com/rants.html. He can't draw, he can't write, he has a thin skin, and now he's a shyster...

NEW YORK Columnist Ann Coulter made a provocative remark Friday about "Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau and editorial cartoonist Ted Rall. Trudeau is shrugging it off, but Rall is considering a lawsuit. Coulter reportedly said Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.: "Iran is soliciting cartoons on the Holocaust. So far, only Ted Rall, Garry Trudeau, and The New York Times have made submissions."

Ted Rall has offered a "retraction" of his Aug. 4 cartoon that cited a 9,000 figure -- rather than the commonly used 1,800-plus -- for the number of American soldiers who have died in the Iraq war. On Tuesday, Rall wrote in his blog: "I read a story that came off as possible, sourced it using previously reliable informants, and ended up doing a cartoon that I wouldn't have done had I known then what I know now. So this is a retraction of [the] cartoon. Did 9,000-plus soldiers get killed in Iraq? Maybe, maybe not. But as a cartoonist...

NEW YORK When Ted Rall wrote a column Tuesday criticizing conservative blogs, it was no surprise that conservative bloggers would respond. One of them, Edward Morrissey, wrote that Rall's "problem is that he expected bloggers to exist only to agree with his radical beliefs. Of course, that's Rall's idea of free speech." Rall had revealed that, given the need to monitor the mainstream media, he was initially thrilled by the explosion of blogs. "Once you spend some time surfing this ocean of likeminded righties, however, you realize the awful truth: the 'populist' blogosphere is cowing the mainstream media even further...

Unhinged Cartoonist Has A Cow Over Website By DiscoverTheNetwork.orgDiscoverTheNetwork.org | February 24, 2005We received an email from Ted Rall, the cartoonist who called our war against the Taliban a "genocide" and belongs to the Michael Moore-Ward Churchill school of supporters of the Zarqawi "resistance" in Iraq. Rall also made a name for himself by referring to fallen American war hero Pat Tillman as an "idiot." -- The EditorsHere is his email:From: Tedrall@aol.com To: david@cspc.org Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 7:44 PM Subject: URGENT: Cease and Desist Notice Dear Mr. Horowitz: It has come to my attention that you...

WashingtonPost.com is no longer running the cartoons of hard-hitting liberal Ted Rall. Rall said he thinks the site dropped his work because of a Nov. 4 cartoon he did showing a drooling, mentally handicapped student taking over a classroom. "The idea was to draw an analogy to the electorate -- in essence, the idiots are now running the country," he told E&P. "That cartoon certainly drew a significant amount of negative comment from our users," said WashingtonPost.com Executive Editor Doug Feaver when contacted by E&P. But he added that the decision to drop Rall was a "cumulative" one that had...

Several months back, I posted this thread in response to Ted Rall's hateful "cartoon" attacking just-killed Pat Tillman: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1129543/posts As I stated there, I emailed Men's Health magazine, to which I subscribe and which publishes a regular Rall 'toon (albeit a non-political one). I told the magazine essentially, "Either Rall's cartoon goes, or my subscription goes. Up to you." Today I got a reply. Here it is: ************** Dear Men's Health reader: Thank you for expressing your opinion about the Tell Men's Health page in the magazine. We hear you. You'll be happy to know that, as of the November...

I've appeared on a number of radio talk-shows discussing the Project 21 press release from earlier this week. The release condemns an early July political cartoon by Ted Rall, a cartoonist syndicated by Universal Press Syndicate.A letter went out from Project 21, with my signature on it on Monday of this week, asking that they reconsider Rall's standing with them, in light of his cartoon, which depicted National Security Director Condoleezza Rice being referred to as a "house n-----."Also on Monday, letters were sent to the NAACP, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the PUSH/Rainbow Coalition, asking that they...

Ted "Bottom-feeder" Rall is at it again. His latest crude-toon includes a frame depicting Condoleezza Rice proclaiming herself Bush's "HOUSE NIGGA." A black man demands that Rice "HAND OVER HER HAIR STRAIGHTENER." His t-shirt reads "YOU'RE NOT WHITE, STUPID." The caption below the frame reads "SENT TO INNER-CITY RACIAL RE-EDUCATION CAMP." I am not going to call for a boycott of Rall's work. No. I want Universal Press Syndicate and the Washington Post and all his other "mainstream" media outlets to keep publishing his pathetic scrawls and scribbles. Ted Rall, you see, is a very useful idiot. Whereas most on...

The passing of Ronald Reagan brought grief to many people who knew him well. To nearly everyone with an emotional commitment to conservative politics, President Reagan towered above most other politicians in the modern era. The contrast between Reagan and Carter has continued to influence how I view the differences between conservatives and liberals. Not everyone holds this view of Reagan's presidency. Intelligent people should be able to respectfully disagree, without failing to express sympathy and condolences to the family of the deceased. Senator Kerry, despite or perhaps because of his current Presidential candidacy, provided an excellent example of how...

Cartoonist, columnist, radio host, and agitprop Ted Rall, published a cartoon essentially calling Pat Tillman an idiot and murderer. It outraged a lot of people. Rall said he received a lot of email saying he was a traitor, he was no good, he was garbage etc. Rall may, indeed, be some of these things. However, more than those things, Rall is merely a fool. All you have to do to learn this is to read some things he wrote. Tikrit Teddy wrote an article about Afghanistan for the Village Voice in December 2001. The prescient Tikrit Teddy wrote, “that if...

NEW YORK — Cartoonist Ted Rall (search) says he has received numerous death threats over a cartoon he did this week that satirized the media's response to the death of Pat Tillman (search), the former pro-football player killed in Afghanistan. Rall said in an interview Wednesday that he has received about 6,000 e-mails in response to the cartoon, which was distributed Monday. MSNBC.com pulled the cartoon from its Web site, saying it "did not meet MSNBC.com standards of fairness and taste." The cartoon said that Tillman "falsely believed" that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were linked to the Sept....

Cartoonist Ted Rall says he has received hundreds of death threats over a comic he did this week that satirized the media's response to the death of Pat Tillman, the former pro-football player killed in Afghanistan. ... Some 300 of the messages threatened Rall with "death or bodily harm," he said, and he also said he had received several death threats by phone. Universal Press Syndicate, which distributes Rall's comics to about 70 newspapers, has received several e-mails from readers who objected to the content of the comic, spokeswoman Kathie Kerr said.

So what does make Ted Rall tick? How did this man come to pernisciously hate the Home of The Free and The Land of The Brave. Let's make no bones about it. Ted Rall hates America. But does he hate us with a passion? I would answer no. He hates us with a fadish, vapid, boring consistency. He does it out a certain desperation for attention. Rall will never be really cool, like Jane Fonda or Ramsey Clark, but if he just gets off enough clever cheap shots at Bush, the crowd he seeks approval from will think he's one...

Editorial cartoonist Ted Rall recently made the news for penning yet another crass cartoon, this one denigrating Pat Tillman, the football star turned soldier recently killed in Afghanistan. Rall painted Tillman as a racist, bloodthirsty idiot who was just another cog in the "El Busho" war machine. MSNBC.com decided to pull the cartoon because it "did not meet MSNBC.com standards of fairness and taste." Blogger Andrew Sullivan called for a protest campaign against Rall and yesterday offered this enlightening Rall quote: "The word 'hero' has been bandied about a lot to refer to anyone killed in Afghanistan or Iraq....

Tuesday, March 30, 2004 No Ted Rall on Air America As one of the few liberals to have worked as a host for AM talk radio for a major station (KFI AM 640, Los Angeles, from 1998 through 2000), I'm getting deluged with email asking whether I'll be part of the new Air America leftie radio syndicate that debuts tomorrow. I haven't been asked. As I describe in my upcoming book WAKE UP, YOU'RE LIBERAL, I had discussions with the predecessor to Air America, AnShell Media, but the new Air America has decided to take a less partisan, less overtly...

Item did not meet MSNBC standards of fairness and taste MSNBC.com pulled a cartoon by syndicated political cartoonist Ted Rall on Monday. Rall’s cartoon, distributed widely by United Press Syndicate to scores of newspapers and Web sites, concerned the late Pat Tillman, the NFL player who quit football to join the Army. Tillman was killed last month in Afghanistan.

The New York Times has dropped political cartoonist Ted Rall, who traces the trouble back to his March 2002 cartoon of "terror widows," which depicted September 11 family survivors capitalizing on the attacks.

The image "became the target of a coordinated e-mail attack by right-wing 'warbloggers.' These pro-Bush bloggers, coasting on a wave of post-September 11 patriotism, sent out e-mails to their followers ... asking each other to deluge the Times and other papers with complaints that purported to come from their readers," Mr. Rall wrote on his Web site (www.rall.com) yesterday.

From Howard Dean's official campaign blog... Rall: Howard Dean for President Ted Rall, in his Universal Press Syndicate column today, explains why so many third party voters are coming to Dean: Howard Dean has the best chance to beat Bush. Brilliant, aggressive and moneyed... Dr. Dean has a corner on the single most important issue to Americans: health care. His politics are surprisingly centrist... He's got traditional Democratic constituents (he just stole the biggest AFL-CIO union's endorsement away from Gephardt) and fresh new ones (twentysomething bloggers have mailed him $25 million in crisp twenties). Dean's got lots more going for...

Bush's Cover-Up Precedes the Scandal NEW YORK--"When it's all said and done," Bush still confidently insists, "the people of the United States and the world will realize that Saddam Hussein had a weapons program." This once again begs the question of presidential dyslexia: You're supposed to find the WMDs before the war, silly rabbit! This bizarro Administration does everything bass-ackwards. The recession is hardest on the poor and middle-class, so Bush gives tax cuts to the rich. When an overwhelming invasion force was needed to secure Afghanistan and Iraq, Rumsfeld sent in a skeleton crew. Now that the citizens of...

George W. Bush's Legacy of Cynicism and Contempt George W. Bush and his henchmen stole the presidency. They threw thousands of innocent people into prison without even charging them with a crime. They're gearing up to invade Iraq without bothering to come up with a substantial justification. Now some Democrats and progressive Americans are asking the unthinkable about an administration they increasingly believe to be ruled by thugs and renegades. Did government gangsters murder the United States' most liberal legislator? Talk of foul play began hours after Senator Paul Wellstone's plane went down over northeastern Minnesota on Oct. 25, killing...

Disturbed cartoonist Ted Rall, undoubtedly eager to follow up his hilarious Terror Widows comic with more laughs served up at the expense of people wracked with grief, produces another gem in the April issue of Gear magazine. Mr. Rall didn't really need to do more to convince us that he hates American culture and sees only hypocrisy and opportunism in our grief and patriotism, but maybe he wanted to make extra sure that we knew. This one portrays the New York firefighters as money-grubbing scum, and ridicules the generosity of their supporters:
