  • Immigrants keep up the fight, even as Florida crack-down bills founder

    Palm Beach Post ^ | April 26, 2011 | Dara Kam
TALLAHASSEE — Hundreds of immigrants, some in the country illegally, and their children are swarming the Capitol this week to plead with lawmakers not to break up their families. Lining hallways, crowding into elevators and praying outside the Florida House and Senate chambers, immigrants -- including two bus loads from Palm Beach County on Tuesday -- are staging an all-out push in the final two weeks of the legislative session to keep an Arizona-style immigration reform from becoming a reality. In tow are children of all ages whose parents are illegal immigrants and who have been deported or are in...

Last night was soggy with temperature in the high 40’s. The rain meant that the MOAB, Mother Of All Banners, and Flag Row were safe and dry in their holders until next Friday. However, Flag Row was covered by smaller flags all night. Easter weekend means that there was no dinner bus. It also means that many people in the DC area are out of town on Easter break. Traffic was considerably lighter and only a few cars were entering and leaving Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Because of the rain, our umbrellas were up. Jessica started with a pink...

The New Black Panther Party, the racist and radical black power group, has a big day ahead of it this coming Saturday. According to its website, it’s planning a massive 60-city “showdown.” And the day of rage will include a protest of “non-black” businesses. The group says it’s establishing a home base at an office building in Harlem, an area it’s modeling after revolutionary ground zero in Egypt. The site goes on to explain why its rallying: As in other revolutions, protests and uprisings going on around the earth, a showdown is looming for Saturday April 23rd as marchers with...

On the 313th consecutive Friday night, it was a quiet and pleasant evening at the front gates of Walter Reed. We had a good group with a lot of waves and honks from the passing cars. It was a break from the hectic pace of the past several weeks. In the 6th anniversary after action report, we should have mentioned that the George Washington University Young Republicans, who were there, were following a tradition of joining us. Over the past 5 years, the GWU Young Republicans Club has joined the Friday night support the troops rally, either 1 or...

An Arizona-like law to combat illegal immigration has a snowball's chance in Phoenix of passing the California Legislature, but freshman Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, R-Twin Peaks (San Bernardino County) is giving it a shot. Donnelly, who has patrolled the California-Mexico border as part of the militant Minutemen citizen group, held a rally at the Capitol today for his bill, AB26. The bill would make a number of changes in state law, including requiring law enforcement to verify the immigration status of anyone who is arrested and suspected of being in the country illegally. Indianapolis - Protestors came to the Indiana Statehouse for what they called a "no hate" rally. Their issue is a package of bills similar to the tough new immigration laws in Arizona. One bill requires English-only public meetings. Another would prohibit tax-subsidized tuition for illegal immigrants. ….A pleasant mild night at last, with a good amount of foot traffic coming and going from Walter Reed. That’s good because it gives us a chance to talk with the solders. One wounded warrior spent more than a few minutes with us and it was a worthwhile visit. Aaron, a USAF Staff Sergeant, 6th SF, with multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, survived 8 IEDs. He said the last two were the reason he is at Walter Reed in the Special Care Unit. BufordP, a USAF veteran, came across the street to talk with Aaron. We, as a...

HELENA — Tea party supporters toting guns gathered on the steps of the Montana Capitol Friday, but the rally was something of a misfire, bringing out far fewer people than in previous years.

RADICAL MUSLIMS BLINK FIRSTEXTREMISTS REATREAT, BACKING OUT OF RALLY, LAUNCH NEW SITE ISLAM4AMERICA! Yesterday, at the very last minute before their planned event, the organizers of the pro-Sharia rally announced that they are indefinitely postponing their protest.  It was supposed to be the day they would re-establish the Caliphate and call on President Obama to accept Islam and for America to come under Sharia law. So why did the pro-Islamic groups cancel their rally? We can’t be sure, but the most likely answer is they were afraid of being outnumbered by the pro-America side and looking stupid, and they...

UPDATE--- NOTE DATE CHANGE! As the past few weeks have progressed, Wisconsin and the Nation have watched schools across Wisconsin close due to teachers participating in a “sick out”, the unions bussing people in from other states to inflate their rally numbers in Madison and legislators fleeing the state to avoid the vote on the budget repair bill. Our first rally, led by American Majority, was a success, with over 15,000 patriots showing up to the Capitol with less than 48 hours of notice. Due to multiple GOP caucuses and other Tea Party events being scheduled for Saturday March 5th,...

The 17-year-old high school senior waded into a sea of communist red to deliver the truth of liberty in the form the US Constitution to the political pagans assembled. In the process, Patrick was verbally assaulted by an old man who graphically described sexual tea-bagging to the high school student. The incident took place during dueling protests in Jefferson City, Missouri, and was caught on two separate video cameras Patrick had grabbed a stack of Pocket Constitutions and Declarations offered for free by the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition The Tea Party held a rally on the south side of...

The Blaze reports Monday morning that a New York-based Islamic organization plans to rally for sharia law in Washington, D.C. this Thursday. Jonathon M. Seidl reports the rally is being organized by The Islamic Thinkers Society and will feature British cleric Anjem Choudary, Abu Izzadeen and Sayful Islam. “We hereby call upon the Muslims in the US, particularly in New York, Michigan, Chicago and Washington DC to take lessons from their Muslim brothers and sisters in North Africa and the Middle East and rise to implement the Shari’ah in America,” the group Shariah4America, seemingly modeled after Choudary’s UK organization, says...

….Came a loudspeaker-sounding voice from the large ambulance as it turned the corner into WRAMC, after roaring down Georgia Ave with its sirens wailing. When ambulances arrive, often carrying wounded warriors direct from Germany, we normally stand quietly with our signs pointed towards the ambulance. Hearing acknowledgement of our presence was unexpected and gave us pause. Our reason for being here every Friday is to show support for the soldiers and their families. “Thank You For Your Support” came from the ambulance as it turned Into Walter Reed Lurker Bill’s comment two weeks ago, that we only had 6...

Saturday's speakers rally larger crowd than last week's Star power invigorated a massive crowd of union supporters who turned out cold and snowy Saturday at the Capitol to protest Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair bill that would strip most public unions of most of their collective bargaining rights. The crowd easily eclipsed the estimated 70,000 that protested at the Capitol last Saturday. Protestors filled the lawns flanking both sides of the Capitol's State Street entrance for nearly the entire block. The crowd extended several blocks down State Street and the street surrounding the Capitol square was entirely filled with a...

Last fall, leftist ideological groups of socialists and communists teamed up with American labor unions to march together for “One Nation.” Now, as labor leaders struggle to maintain a stranglehold on collective bargaining privileges in Wisconsin, the same groups are once again marching together under a banner claiming unions are the heart of the American dream. As we’ve reported, former White House green jobs czar Van Jones this week issued a rallying call for the progressive movement to “renew itself and become again a national force with which to be reckoned.” On Saturday, progressive groups and labor unions are reportedly planning...
