California corrections officials say convicted serial killer Richard Ramirez, known as the Night Stalker, has died in prison. San Quentin State Prison spokesman Lt. Sam Robinson says Ramirez died Friday morning. Ramirez was convicted of 13 murders that terrorized Southern California in 1984 and '85, and sentenced to death. Satanic symbols were left at murder scenes and some victims were forced to "swear to Satan" by the killer, who entered homes through unlocked windows and doors. Ramirez was captured and beaten in 1985 by residents of an East Los Angeles neighborhood while attempting a carjacking.

The killer crept into the backyard. The single-story house was on Via Zaragosa in Mission Viejo. It was about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, 1985 – 27 years ago.Inside the house, a 13-year-old boy couldn't sleep. His family had come home from Rosarito Beach several hours earlier, and James Romero III wanted to retrieve a pillow he had left in his family's camper. His parents and sister were asleep. The boy left his house through a side door. Romero had no idea, in that dark moment, how close he was to Richard Ramirez, who was about to become...

I wrote about this subject last week and political cartoonist Michael Ramirez brings the same up today. What’s your reaction to blaming all of the problems on business executives who will not “step up?” Now that blaming Bush is falling flat – especially with less than 18 months to go until election day – he’s gotta find someone else to blame. We’re going to see more Democrats calling Republicans racist and in-the-pocket of big, bad business for some time to come. This is easy for the liberal/left/statist to do … the question is do conservatives and the GOP have the...

Many believe that the only thing that kept Joran out of jail was his daddy’s influence... Once again young Van der Sloot murders a young woman. Two decades after the devil-worshiping "Night Stalker" killer was sentenced to die for 13 Southern California murders, DNA evidence has tied him to the 1984 rape and slaying of a 9-year-old girl in the Tenderloin, San Francisco authorities said Thursday. The DNA links Richard Ramirez and possibly a second, unknown attacker to the April 10, 1984, killing of Mei "Linda" Leung, whose body was found hanging over a pipe in the basement of her apartment building at 765 O'Farrell St., police said. One can measure the dedication of the climate-change crowd in how they approach the zero-emissions technology of nuclear power. Some have realized that the only practical way to replace coal as a source for electricity is to invest heavily in nuclear power. Others, such as Harry Reid and his allies in the Senate, have done their best to shut the door on that path away from coal, which calls into question their motives in forcing cap-and-trade schemes onto the US. Investors Business Daily rips Reid and the administration for blocking the use of Yucca Mountain for safe fuel reprocessing, which...

I don't know how to get a link to this since it is the LA Times but today's Ramirez cartoon is very funny. It is in reference to the Hate Bush meeting held in Beverly Hills recently. Excerpt: We Hate Bush because he is against vacuuming the brains out of fetuses. He is opposed to socialized medicine, Saddam Hussein, Higher Taxes... Maybe someone can find a link to the cartoon and post it. I read it in the Tacoma News Tribune.

In 1969, Groucho Marx told a magazine reporter that, quote, "The only hope this country has is in Nixon's assassination." Paul Krassner, the publisher of the underground magazine The Realist, heard about his friend's comment impishly dashed off a letter to the Justice Department. The Feds had recently arrested Black Panther leader David Hilliard for threatening Nixon during a speech, and Krassner wanted to know what the government was going to do about Groucho. The U.S. attorney responded that Groucho's remarks did not...
