Drugmaker Recalls Nearly 5 Million Doses of H1N1 Flu Vaccine

Drugmaker MedImmune is recalling nearly 5 million doses of H1N1 flu vaccine because the nasal spray appears to lose strength over time, federal health officials announced Tuesday. The vaccine recall is the second this month caused by declining potency and comes as public health officials urge millions of Americans to get vaccinated against swine flu. The action affects more than 4.6 million doses, but the vast majority have already been used, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Agency officials said the vaccine was strong enough when it was distributed in October and November.

A nauseating "moldy" odor has sickened some people using Tylenol Arthritis Pain Caplet 100-count bottles with red EZ-Open caps. Tylenol maker McNeil PPC Inc. has recalled all of this product, which is easily recognized by its distinctive red cap. The new recall expands a five-lot recall of the product announced last November. McNeill says consumers reported the product had "an unusual moldy, musty, or mildew-like odor" linked to symptoms of nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea." So far, all of these health events "were temporary and non-serious," McNeill says in a news release. The source of the odor appears to...

Hey, stop worrying about a massive government takeover of health care. You’re in good hands: Health officials are recalling hundreds of thousands of doses of swine flu vaccine after tests indicated they may not be potent enough to protect against the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified doctors about the recall Tuesday. The recall involves about 800,000 doses made by Sanofi Pasteur. The doses are pre-filled syringes intended for young children, ages 6 months to almost three years. …Health officials say it’s not clear how many doses have already been given, but they don’t think children need...

Term Limits for Congress?

Americans have been so apathetic, afraid, or down right lazy in their political involvement. It's clear that Congress has been slowly destroying many wonderful things about America, yet few speak out, or take action to rid Congress of tyrants. It's time to organize voters to PURGE CONGRESS and establish term limits for Congress. Politics was never meant to be a career. Our founding fathers were farmers, ranchers, store owners, etc... Serving in Congress was an honor and duty for patriots. By establishing term limits for Congress, we would be better assuring that only people with a genuine interest in the...

Supporters collecting signatures in an effort to recall Republican Sen. Bob Huff fell short today... by about 65,535 names. Recall proponents had until Nov. 16 to turn in the 65,535 valid voter signatures from the 29th Senate District needed to spark a recall election. But, according to counts confirmed today by election officials in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties, they turned in zero signatures

In case you were wondering, we can't recall Members of Congress

So Congress ignores the polls on specific legislation, ignores the polls on increased government spending in general, and ignores the polls on their own impending retirements in the 2010 general. They ignore the tea-party marches, the thousands of letters and calls, and the revelations about ACORN and falsified climate data. They allow the Administration to fail to prosecute voter intimidation and to investigate ACORN. Congress is, quite clearly, acting wholly outside the interests of the voters. The liberals in charge of Congress and the White House are marching to their own drummer. They refuse to acknowledge our words and refuse...

Recalling Mary Landrieu?

In light of yesterday’s display of political prostitution by U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-Storyville), which is being dubbed The Louisiana Purchase by some in the media, one wonders whether this isn’t the perfect time to launch a recall effort... ----------- Clip ----------- Is a recall difficult? No doubt. Louisiana law requires signatures of a third of the voters in last year’s election within 180 days of the petition’s filing, which means 632,192 signatures would be needed in six months.
How to Recall a U.S. Senator (Or Congressman)

Senators have to find a balance between voting their conscience and voting as their constituents would like. If senators vote their conscience too heavily, constituents tend to get angry. When this happens, constituents may ask for a recall of their U.S. Senator. (The 5 steps are listed in detail) -- The 18 states allowing for recall are as follows: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin.

A recall petition filed Tuesday against a member of Congress could end up being a test case for whether Arizonans have the power to dump federal lawmakers. Tucsonan Thomas D. Young is seeking the ouster of two-term Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, citing her support of federal legislation requiring increased use of electricity generated from renewable sources and new carbon emission standards for coal-fired power plants. Young complained those standards will raise the cost of materials by more than 30 percent.

Two Tweaks to the Constitution

Sometimes, We the People discover that we have made a serious mistake, and we don't want to wait for the next election to correct it. In some states, voters can correct their mistakes with a recall election, such as the 2003 recall of California Governor Gray Davis. The recall, however, is not available on the federal level. Federal officials are removed from office by either expulsion or impeachment. Congress uses expulsion. So, removal of bad actors in congress is a matter of elected officials ousting other elected officials; the electorate has no say in the matter. But is congress policing...
