Davis warns of a new civil war with Southern states

WASHINGTON — Congressional candidate Jack Davis, in a speech earlier this year, warned that increasing immigration from Mexico could lead to a new civil war between northern states and Mexican-influenced Southern states that may want to secede from the United States. “In the latter part of this century or the next, Mexicans will be a majority in many of the states and could therefore take control of the state government using the democratic process,” Davis said in the speech. “They could then secede from the United States, and then we might have another civil war.” A supporter of one of...

BHO goes reconquista: "the border crossed them"

Speaking at a high school in New Mexico, Barack Obama was asked about immigration and, according to a liveblog of the event, said: "We are a nation of immigrants," Obama answers. "The only people can say that they aren't immigrants are the people sitting right here," the Presidential candidate says and points to the tribal leaders. "There are some families who have been here for 4 or 500 years. They didn't cross the border, the border crossed them." While he's correct to a point, those comments are also straight out of Reconquista 101.
Census report sees minorities becoming majority by 2042

Census report sees minorities becoming majority by 2042 BY OLIVIA WINSLOW | olivia.winslow@newsday.com 6:11 PM EDT, August 13, 2008 In a new report out Thursday, the U.S. Census Bureau projects the nation will become much more diverse by midcentury, with minorities forecast to become the majority population by 2042, experts said. The growing national diversity is also a trend seen locally, particularly among Hispanics, experts said. "Hispanics are primarily drawn here by economic opportunity," Koppelman continued. "If the economy remains robust on Long Island, this population will continue to expand." The Census Bureau projects that minorities, now roughly one-third of...

Defender's role in protest probed (Isabel Garcia)

The actions of Pima County Legal Defender Isabel Garcia at a protest last month against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio are "under review" after top county officials were flooded with complaints. Garcia, who is active with the immigrant rights group Derechos Humanos, participated in a protest at a signing event at a Barnes & Noble bookstore promoting a book by Arpaio, who has a national reputation for anti-illegal-immigrant raids and tough jail conditions. Videos posted on YouTube show Garcia picking up the head of a piñata representing Arpaio after several teenagers smashed it, and carrying around the head. Photo:...

Kosovo: the Sudetenland All Over Again? (Pravda comparing Kosovo with Aztlan)

Will we see another Munich, another Czechoslovakia, another Sudetenland, another appeasement to criminals, another murderous, bloody European war brought forth by despicable men selling a false sense of securing peace? This time the name is not Neville Chamberlain, it is Slovenian Foreign Minister, Dimitrij Rupel, and Slovenian President, Danilo Tirk, among other EU and US officials playing the part of the appeasers. ... See the videos here in case you missed it yesterday. Garcia is now gloating about the incident–calling it “funny.” She has posted a bigotry card-playing response at her militant website, Derechos Humanos.
Anti-Illegal Immigration Sign Drawing Criticism

A local man is drawing criticism after driving around town with an anti-illegal immigration sign mounted on a trailer. The sign reads "Build the wall, deport them all," and Davi Rodriguez says it's part of an attempt to educate residents on illegal immigration. Davi drives the sign up and down the streets of Sacramento where day laborers wait for work, sometimes videotaping the reactions and uploading them to YouTube. Workers we talked to say they feel harassed, and they're losing jobs. "The people who come down here to hire us go away," said one worker, who did not wish to...

Mexicans urged to reclaim a piece of Texas By Tom Leonard Last Updated: 9:11PM BST 26/06/2008 Mexicans are being encouraged to reclaim a piece of Texas, more than 150 years after they lost the Lone Star state to the United States. Texan estate agents are heading south of the border to drum up the interest in buying cut-price land and property in the foreclosure-hit state. Thanks to a rising Mexican peso and an economy which is growing faster than that of the US, a country that has previously been looked on by America as a source of cheap labour is...

The advocates — all Catholic — hope to provide places to stay, food and health care for immigrants.
The term “La Raza“, or “the Race” originated in a book titled “La Raza Cósmica,” written in 1929 by José Vasconcelos.
Cinco de Mayo (5th of May) festivities are to Mexican-Americans what St. Patrick’s Day festivities are to Irish-Americans—a joyful expression of ancestral pride and a celebration of the rich diversity of American culture. Mexican-Americans, like Irish-Americans, migrated to the United States because of dismal economic prospects at home. Both have prospered here; both love to party. Indeed, that unquenchable love of party shows great courage of spirit. It persisted despite many generations of grinding poverty in “the old country.” Party on, amigos! Cinco de Mayo commemorates a resounding victory of Mexican troops over French invaders in Puebla, Mexico, on May...

CHICAGO (AP) - Thousands of chanting, flag-waving immigrants and activists rallied in cities across the country Thursday, attempting to reinvigorate calls for immigration reform in a presidential election year in which the economy has taken center stage. From Washington to Miami to Los Angeles, immigrant rights activists demanded citizenship opportunities for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. and an end to raids and deportations. "We come here to fight for legalization.
U. Houston Professor Responds to Absolut's Apology for its "Map" Ad.

The retraction came as a result of a threatened boycott initiated by conservative talk radio and Web sites. Who was Absolut apologizing to and why? Elementary schools would have the option of including information about the deportations in social science instruction.
