WASHINGTON – John Edwards' political career is probably not coming back. But Fred Baron insists he is not going away. The Dallas trial lawyer, both celebrated and vilified as the King of Toxic Torts, made a handsome living confronting big companies on behalf of sick and some not-so-sick plaintiffs. He's a lightning rod again, after admitting he paid to move the presidential candidate's mistress away from prying tabloid reporters. He says political enemies will try to use the episode against his efforts to elect Democratic candidates in Texas....

Some wives pick out their husband’s ties, while others, it seems, pick out their husband’s “favorite” film. DBKP found a video of John Edwards introducing the movie Dr. Strangelove, the “favorite” film he’d “chosen” for Turner Movie Classic’s series with politicians. In August of 2004 John Edwards had this to say about his “favorite” film, Dr. Strangelove, the movie he’d never seen : “I believe that one of the messages Kubrick was trying to send was that putting this kind of power and this potential holocaust in the hands of human beings, no matter who they are, is an extraordinarily...

Poor John Edwards. He made his big statement last Friday, finally admitting to America his affair with Rielle Hunter, a woman who has on more than one occasion said to a hair-dresser, "Just make me look like Judith Light from 'Who's the Boss?'" Now his political career is in the toilet, and he's beating himself up so bad that no one else can even get a shot in. But there's still the matter of that baby. Edwards claims that he is not the father of Rielle Hunter's five-month old daughter, Frances Quinn. If so, why did he visit Rielle and...

John Edwards' mistress, Rielle Hunter, talked to news-ertainment television show "Extra" last year while promoting her campaign "webisodes." While the interview was condensed for air, hours of footage were left on the cutting room floor. Now 23/6 has raided the "Extra" vaults for an inside look at the interview you were never meant to see.

As most of you know, John Edwards is a lawyer. But that fact alone probably wouldn’t give us subject-matter jurisdiction over the bizarro story involving him and video producer Rielle Hunter (pictured, left). Fortunately, however, Fred Baron (pictured, below right) gives us the in we need. The dealio: In the midst of the weekend’s news that Edwards had had an affair with Hunter, news also broke that someone had paid not only for Hunter to move from Chapel Hill, N.C., to Santa Barbara, Calif., but for the man who claims to be the father of her child, Andrew Young, to...

A seeker and a New Age spiritualist, John Edwards's other woman believed she could help him make history. The first time I laid eyes on Rielle Hunter, I could tell she was a story. She had frizzy blond hair with DARK roots, wore bright nail polish and moved like someone who knew how to work a room. She was on a cramped commuter flight and she was flirting with a candidate for president of the United States. It was July 7, 2006. I'd been sent to Iowa to write a piece on John Edwards. We were on our way to...

The woman behind the John Edwards scandal has a wild past of sex and drugs so legendary her escapades were chronicled by novelist Jay McInerney. Before moving to Los Angeles and beginning a career as a film producer, Rielle Hunter, 42, was known as Lisa Druck, a New York City party girl. Hunter confessed to her sordid past on her Web site Being is Free, which was deleted from the Internet last April, soon after she ended her professional relationship with former presidential candidate John Edwards.Screen image of John Edwards' paramour Rielle Hunter from her Web site which is no...

The family of John Edwards' former mistress, Rielle Hunter, is challenging the former senator to take a DNA paternity test after his claim that he did not father Hunter's six-month old child. In the first reaction from Hunter's family, her younger sister Melissa told ABC News that Edwards should immediately follow through on his pledge to take a paternity test. "I would challenge him to do so," the sister said. "Somebody must stand up and defend my sister," she said. "I wish that those involved would refrain from bad-mouthing my sister." In his interview with ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff...

we normally never reveal the identities in our blind items, but in light of John Edwards' finally admitting he had an extramarital affair, we bring your attention to our "Just asking" item of Aug. 27, 2007: "WHICH political candidate enjoys visiting New York because he has a girlfriend who lives downtown? The pol tells her he'll marry her when his current wife is out of the picture."

FORT WORTH, Texas -- A photograph taken by an NBC 5 employee shows former presidential candidate John Edwards with his videographer, Rielle Hunter, 42, on a stop in Dallas in 2006. The pair were in North Texas during Edwards' book tour. Edwards, who won praise and sympathy as he campaigned side-by-side with his cancer-stricken wife, Elizabeth, admitted Friday he had had an extramarital affair with Hunter. Hunter was working for Edwards producing videos for his campaign. Edwards said he made a serious error in judgment when he had an affair and is ashamed of his conduct.

John Edwards has finally admitted his long-rumored affair with Rielle Hunter, but he continues to deny that he is the father of her baby. I'm with Johnny on this one. The baby doesn't look anything like him.

UPDATE: John Edwards' secret meeting with his mistress at the Beverly Hilton hotel has now become part of a criminal complaint. NATIONAL ENQUIRER reporters Alan Butterfield and Alexander Hitchen filed a criminal complaint with the Beverly Hills Police Department on Thursday, July 24, charging that hotel security acted unlawfully while the reporters were trying to question the former senator. Edwards now could be contacted by police to give an eyewitness account of what occurred. Hotel security tried to stop the reporters from questioning Edwards in the basement of the hotel at approximately 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 after Edwards came...
