Kenneth Byrd and his family were settled in their North Carolina home Monday night when there was a knock at their door. A stranger claimed his car was having mechanical problems and asked for water, according to a statement released by the Robeson County Sheriff's Office and obtained by PEOPLE. Suddenly, two more men appeared and demanded money. They were dressed in black and wearing ski masks. The suspects were armed with handguns and attempted to rape Byrd's 19-year-old granddaughter. "Mr. Byrd retrieved a weapon and several shots were fired between Mr. Byrd and the suspects in the house," according...

Bangert: Shooting at childhood school creates conflicted feelings about guns So I’m intently watching the TV in our newsroom about the Friday afternoon shooting at my high school, Arapahoe, where I graduated in 1972. I watch the view from a TV helicopter as students are lined up in rows around the school, to go through police checks. Although I haven’t been back in the school since my sisters’ graduations, memories quickly come to the surface of classes, friends, teachers, athletics and the school newspaper. I watch as students and families are told to go to the nearby Shepherd of the...

Here is what happened at a local bookstore in Tennessee, according to booksbikesboomsticksblog: (now you see the anti-defense sign) Now you see it gone! Quite a bit more detail at the blog site. It looks to be a pretty good one. This is what I have noticed all over the country. Stores put up signs, realize that they are losing business and money, and take them down. The most resistant seem to be non-profits and government agencies. Dean Weingarten Link to Gun Watch
  • George Zimmerman Files Civil Suit Against Trayvon Martin’s Parents (Crap SATIRE)

THIS JUST IN… George Zimmerman filed a civil suit today just before 5PM EST at the Seminole County, Florida, Courthouse. The suit alleges the parents of Trayvon Martin, failed to control their minor-age son on the evening of February 26, 2012, when Martin repeatedly assaulted Zimmerman, placing him in imminent fear for his life and resulting in the death of Martin. The civil action specifies that Zimmerman acted in self defense resulting in the case being ruled a justifiable homicide by a jury trial that ended on Saturday with a verdict of not guilty. Desperate state prosecutors charged the victim...
  • It’s a shame that Fred Thompson is too young to have played Matt Dillon..(Anti-gun Richard Cohen)

It’s a shame that Fred Thompson is too young to have played Matt Dillon, the no-nonsense marshal of Dodge City in the long-running radio and television series “Gunsmoke.” That role on the radio went to William Conrad (later TV’s “Cannon”) and on television to James Arness. But whether TV or radio, Marshal Dillon had the same policy for cowboys when they rode into Dodge: They had to surrender their guns.

English MP calls Radio 4 listeners 'bastards' over vigilante vote - By Vincent Graff Media Editor - 02 January 2004 It was trailed as a "unique chance to rewrite the law of the land". Listeners to BBC Radio 4's Today programme were asked to suggest a piece of legislation to improve life in Britain, with the promise that an MP would then attempt to get it onto the statute books. But yesterday, 26,000 votes later, the winning proposal was denounced as a "ludicrous, brutal, unworkable blood-stained piece of legislation" - by Stephen Pound, the very MP whose job it is...

FELLOW MISSOURI CITIZENS: As you may know, a very highly-refined CCW bill passed both houses of the Missouri legislature earlier this year, against threats by Governor "One-Term Bob" Holden to veto it. To date, he has not done so. However, he must shortly take action on the bill one way or another, or it will pass into law. According to the Governor's office, he has only until July 14th to veto it. Of course, action on his part could come at any time. IT'S MAJOR CRUNCH TIME. IT'S TIME FOR GOV. HOLDEN TO HEAR FROM YOU AND ALL IN MISSOURI...
