DUmmie FUnnies 10-21-09 (The Reality Zone---A Tragicomedy Featuring Rod Serling)

(Richard Heene, father of Balloon Boy Falcon, is sitting in his backyard with his head in his hands. Falcon walks up to him and Heene looks up sadly.) BALLOON DAD: Why Falcon? Why did you tell Wolf Blitzer on live TV that I told you to hide in the attic for the show? BALLOON BOY: Because that is what you did tell me, Dad. BALLOON DAD: But that was the real reality we must never talk about. What counts is TV reality. And now I can never return to TV reality shows like "Wife Swap." My credibility was blown...

Rod Serling’s Revenge (The Twilight Zone, one of the best-loved TV shows ever, turns 50)

There is so much competition for “best television show ever” that continuing the argument is probably pointless. Also, apples-to-apples comparisons are difficult to make. Is The Simpsons better than The Sopranos, or are they so different that, apart from both being shown on TV, they have nothing meaningful in common? “Most influential” is a little easier. And there can be no question that the top handful of contenders must include The Twilight Zone — first aired 50 years ago, on Oct. 2, 1959. It remains one of the best-loved shows of all time, and in the subsequent half-century, it has...

50 years later, Twilight Zone bridges time

"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone." - Rod Serling SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — On a Friday night in October 1959, Americans began slipping into a dimension of imagination as vast as space and as timeless as infinity....

Iowahawk: Requiem For a Lightweight

(With apologies to Rod Serling)ACT 1SCENE 1A stark dressing room in the underbelly of the White House, bathed in the dim yellow light of a 25-watt compact fluorescent bulb. The dingy walls are plastered with Shepard Fairey “HOPE” posters. Off stage is heard the cringing, muffled gasps of a stunned arena audience. Suddenly the door bursts open and enters BARACK “BAM BAM” OBAMA, former champion, unconscious on a stretcher carried by his handlers -- cut man TWINKLETOES EMANUEL, manager PAPPY AXELROD, SPITBUCKET BEGALA and SPINDOC GREENBURG. His nose is bleeding profusely, his eyes nearly swollen shut, and his forehead is...

The true first episode of The Twilight Zone - The Time Element

On October 2, 1959, Rod Serling's landmark television series, The Twilight Zone debuted with the pilot episode, Where Is Everybody? However, this was actually the second pilot. The first pilot was an episode of the Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse. The episode, written by Serling, was The Time Element. The original air date was November 24, 1958. Unfortunately, the episode seldom appears on television these days. And it's not yet available on video in the US. However, a fellow from Portugal has uploaded it to YouTube. Here it is. I think it's very good. It's in six parts. You might want to...

Submitted for your approval ...Rod Serling's Twilight Zone originated in Ithaca

Ithaca, N.Y. -In 1924, in Binghamton, a baby was born who would go on to graduate from high school, serve in the army as a paratrooper and demolition specialist, write television screenplays, have a house on Cayuga Lake and work as a professor at Ithaca College. He died in 1975, but at the end of this month, his voice will again be heard in the hallways of Ithaca College. Welcome to the Twilight Zone. That voice being honored is that of Rod Serling. “The Twilight Zone” always began with Serling staring sternly into the camera, telling a serious tale. As...

NAFTA Superhighway Has Giuliani As Key Player (RON PAUL opposed!)

NAFTA Superhighway Has Giuliani As Key Player Submitted by admin on Tue, 2007-06-26 20:28.A NAFTA superhighway extends North through Texas into Oklahoma and Colorado, and it's a four lane huge superhighway. On March 23, 2005, U.S. President George W. Bush, former Canadian Prime Minister, Paul Martin and former Mexican President, Vicente Fox, authorized the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), now under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Most Americans have little to no knowledge of this seemingly innocuous sounding unofficial treaty and therefore believe there is little reason to be alarmed. However, what could be misinterpreted as legislation which has...

DUmmie FUnnies 09-13-06 (Daily Kos KOmmies Enter The Twilight Zone)

Keith Olbermann, desperate as usual to boost his tiny ratings, turned his 9/11 report into one long attack on President Bush. Keith made this ATTACK, in typical poor taste on the site of the former World Trade Center Towers. Then he added to the tastelessness by making a comparison to The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street episode of the Twilight Zone. Olbermann used that Twilight Zone episode to suggest that our real enemy is our own prejudices despite the fact that the tragedy of 9/11 was caused by very real Islamic terrorists. It was as out of place...

YOU'RE TRAVELLING THROUGH ANOTHER DIMENSION. A DIMENSION NOT ONLY OF SIGHT AND SOUND BUT OF MINDLESSNESS. A JOURNEY INTO A BIZARRE ASYLUM WHOSE BOUNDARIES ARE THAT OF THE IMAGINATION. THAT'S THE SIGNPOST UP AHEAD---YOUR NEXT STOP, THE DUMMIE ZONE. (A car is roaring fast down a country road late at night in western Nebraska. At the wheel is Pied Piper Pitt. He has a very sad look on his face, almost crying, as he mutters to himself: "I'll show them! In a couple of days they won't have the Magic Man to kick around any more and then they'll...

Rod Serling: Submitted For Your Approval (Serling Documentary On TV Tonight)

Known primarily for his role as the host of television’s THE TWILIGHT ZONE, Rod Serling had one of the most exceptional and varied careers in television. As a writer, a producer, and for many years a teacher, Serling challenged the medium of television to reach for loftier artistic goals. The winner of more Emmy Awards for dramatic writing than anyone in history, Serling expressed a deep social conscience in nearly everything he did. Born in Syracuse, New York in 1924, Rod Serling grew up in the small upstate city of Binghamton. The son of a butcher, he joined the army...
