Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik used semi-automatic rifles to gun down more than a dozen people at a Christmas party for San Bernardino County employees on Dec. 2, 2015, prosecutors say. Police later confronted and killed the two attackers. Enrique Marquez - a former neighbor and friend of Farook - allegedly bought the two rifles for Farook in 2011 and 2012, and the two planned to launch bomb and shooting attacks at Riverside City College, where they attended classes, and a notoriously gridlocked section of highway without exits. The two never carried out those plans.

Hasan has remained on death row for seven years and counting. Manning said he hopes "justice gets served" but realizes Hasan may never be executed. ... When it came to Hasan, Manning said, there was a double standard. Hasan wrote emails to radical American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki seeking advice on reconciling his Muslim faith with serving in the Army. This fact was known to the FBI. “You could lose your security clearance in the Army for having bad credit and be kicked out of the Army. California Gov. Jerry Brown's Christmas granted 143 pardons and 131 commutations for Christmas, including a handful of refugees and immigrants that he hopes to spare from deportation by scrubbing their criminal histories. Brown also responded to the clemency request of Kevin Cooper -- a death-row inmate convicted of killing four members of a Chino Hills, Calif., family at their home with a hatchet, knife and ice pick in 1983 after escaping from a nearby prison -- by ordering new DNA tests on four pieces of evidence including the hatchet handle and sheath. Brown stressed in the order that he takes...

Yesterday, CBS2 News reported that Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested an illegal alien soon-to-be dad as he stopped at the gas station on the way to the hospital with his pregnant wife. Shortly after the story broke, the article was updated to reflect that the man was actually wanted by Mexican authorities for murder. In a letter released Wednesday, Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson 60% (R-WI) asked Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson for all documents and communications regarding the dismissal of ICE whistle-blower Taylor Johnson and his underlings’ secretive effort to discredit her to reporters. Confused by all these Johnsons? It’s hard not to be. The story also features a cameo by then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid 2% (D-NV). Apple publicly fought the FBI in 2016 over issues related to privacy, encryption, and an iPhone used by a terrorist. Texts between FBI employees released earlier this week give a peek into how some agents saw the battle. In February 2016, as Apple and the FBI were quietly sparring over how to unlock an iPhone owned by one of the perpetrators of the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, two FBI officials unrelated to the case back in Washington DC were privately discussing their distaste for Apple CEO Tim Cook. "And what makes me really angry about that Apple...
