Appearing on Fox News this morning, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin surprised her acolytes by singing the praises of the most libertarian-leaning GOP presidential candidate…Ron Paul. I still sense his desire to be more of an isolated-type country and not be as aware and active on the international scene when it comes to protecting our allies like Israel and doing all that we can. That is my hesitancy there still with Ron Paul's candidacy. However, on the domestic front, he is the only one who has been so adamantly passionate about doing something about the suffocating debt, about doing something...

On Laura Ingraham's show, Dick Cheney gave this barbed answer on whether Sarah Palin was the right choice for vice president in 2008: “Well I’ve never gotten around the question of her having left the governorship of Alaska midterm. I’ve never heard that adequately explained so that I could understand why, how she decided in her first term to step down and still be—I’d like to know more about that.” The comment followed a longer reflection from Cheney on the need for a vice president to have "thick skin."

INDIANOLA, Iowa, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- After hours of conflicting reports, organizers confirmed potential presidential candidate Sarah Palin will speak at a Tea Party rally in Iowa. Consultants from Palin's team threatened to withdraw her from the rally if former Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell were present at the event, Politico reported. O'Donnell was uninvited from the rally, scheduled for Saturday in Indianola, Iowa, late Wednesday at the request of Palin's people, the report said "Palin has confirmed," Tea Party of America organizer Charlie Gruschow told Politico. "O'Donnell will not speak or be present." This is not the first time...

Sara was on Greta's show last night and I couldn't help but wonder why she would be wearing a Hillary Pin. If you don't remember the Hillary Pin, it was a pin that she and all of her 'friends' wore during the impeachment as well as during her run for the Senate. Just wondering? I couldn't get the image to display properly, and would appreciate some assistance if available.Sara

Herman Cain’s scrappy campaign for the GOP presidential nomination is making an impression. From Public Policy Polling of North Carolina: Mitt Romney has the lead in PPP’s first Iowa poll since Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump exited the race, but with six different candidates polling in double digits it’s clear this thing is wide open. Romney polls at 21%. Sarah Palin and Herman Cain are tied for second at 15%. Newt Gingrich is 4th with 12%, Michele Bachmann 5th with 11%, Tim Pawlenty 6th with 10%, Ron Paul 7th with 8%, and Jon Huntsman 8th with 0% (only one respondent...

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin suggested Republicans would have fared better in 2008 had she, not John McCain, been the messenger of change for the GOP. “I wasn’t at the top of the ticket, remember?” Speaking at the India Today Conclave in New Delhi, Palin was asked why Republicans were unable to defeat Barack Obama in 2008. Palin told Aroon Purie, editor of India Today that Obama was able to cast himself as the change candidate, and that things might have gone differently had she been the GOP’s presidential candidate. Palin did not suggest that she should have been the...

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — At about 5:00 I found out that the racers were stopping in Golovin due to life-threatening conditions. Apparently race veteran and one of team members who was first to Nome, Marc McKenna, called race marshal Chris Graeber and told her that they were stopping in Golovin because the trail was impassible, they were all wet, and "Someone's going to die out here," (this is a... fourth-hand quote, but I'd imagine that's the gist of it). According to GPS and a since-deleted Facebook post by an administrator of the Iron Dog page, three teams have decided to go...

WASHINGTON – Tea party backers fashion themselves as "we the people," but polls show the Republican Party's most conservative and energized voters are hardly your average crowd. According to an Associated Press-GfK Poll this month, 84 percent who call themselves tea party supporters don't like how President Barack Obama is handling his job — a view shared by just 35 percent of all other adults. Tea partiers are about four times likelier than others to back repealing Obama's health care overhaul and twice as likely to favor renewing tax cuts for the highest-earning Americans. Exit polls of voters in this...

There is a scene in Mel Gibson’s "Braveheart" (what terrible timing to fondly recall a Mel Gibson movie) that summarizes the problem with politicians. Hearing of William Wallace’s rebellion in the Scottish Highlands, an inspired Robert the Bruce Jr. comes to tell his leper father (looking very much like Raiders’ owner Al Davis) the news. Thinking strategically, practically, politically, Robert the Bruce Sr. explains to his son: "You admire this man, this William Wallace. Uncompromising men are easy to admire. He has courage, so does a dog. But it is exactly the ability to compromise that makes a man noble!"...

Alabama’s agriculture commissioner overwhelmed a congressman trying to become the first black to win Alabama’s Democratic nomination for governor, while four candidates ran a close race for the Republican nomination. With 58 percent of the precincts reporting, Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks won with 65 prcent to U.S. Rep. Artur Davis’s 35 percent. In the crowded Republican field, former two-year college chancellor Bradley Byrne, Greenville developer Tim James and Tuscaloosa physician Robert Bentley are tied at 26 percent each. Former Chief Justice Roy Moore is polling 20 percent. The top two in the GOP fight will advance to a runoff July...

There is a mantra in the television business and it goes like this: Protect the brand. Look no further than NBC if you think this is not a wise statement. And yet, you have to wonder what Discovery is doing in business with Sarah Palin. The well-respected umbrella company and main cable channel announced not long ago that it had won the bidding war for "Sarah Palin's Alaska," a reality series starring the polarizing politician. The various Discovery Channels - save for TLC, the one that Palin will actually appear on in her new reality show - are seen as the...

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has asked the Republican National Committee to remove her name from a fundraiser the committee is planning piggybacking off of the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, POLITICO has learned.Palin’s staff has twice told the RNC to remove her name from an invitation sent to donors, obtained by POLITICO on Wednesday, showing her as an “invited” speaker to the four-day fundraiser in New Orleans, timed to coincide with the SRLC event in Louisiana.Palin, who will appear at SRLC, “will not take part in any RNC fundraiser in New Orleans,” an aide said. The RNC invitation touts Palin...

Scratching my head, wondering if I can remember a so-called correspondent so openly mocking a major political figure . . . Sarah Palin finally got to deliver her speech at the much heralded and scrutinized Tea Party convention in Nashville. I thought the speech was pretty good. I have my own issues with Sarah Palin but I’m glad she went somewhat out on a limb here to provide an incredible amount of publicity and legitimacy to the grassroots Tea Party movement. The 9-12 and Taxed Enough Already groups are still in their political infancy but have showed they do have some staying power, the ability to raise millions of dollars to target specific races, and now the attention of both political...

Sarah Palin may draw ecstatic crowds in "real America," but among Republican insiders in Washington, she's not so popular. National Journal's annual Insiders Poll issue will come out Friday, but we've got some early results; the most interesting finding is how many GOP insiders and members of Congress listed Palin as one of their least favorite members of the party. Palin was the top response when 85 GOP strategists and insiders were asked, "Which voice in your party would you most like to mute?" 28 percent listed Palin; Republican National Committee Chairman Michael came in second, with 12 percent. I have, over the past year or so, expressed occasional dismay over Sarah Palin. I think she has the issue understanding of a Kodiak bear and an Arctic wolf’s eye for the main chance, and I think the idea of her being president, devising a national budget and having access to nuclear weapons is the kind of horrific vision that might come to you after weeks alone in the Alaskan wilderness. But I don’t know what she did to deserve Levi Johnston. Johnston, if you miss both the political news and the supermarket tabloids, is the former high school classmate,...

Woke up to a cryptic e-mail this morning from Gov. Sarah Palin's office. All it says is she "will make an announcement at her Wasilla home this morning" at 11. On Fourth of July weekend? From her home? Hmm. My question: why did it have to be so cryptic? She's staying another month on guard -- so just wait until after the holiday, why don'tcha? Maybe she thought that if she waited to make the announcement, she'd reconsider. Or maybe she wanted her July 4 weekend to relax without having to worry about throwing such a curve ball on Monday...

UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month. ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly. The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties...

On Tax day, CBS newsreader Katie Couric was given the Walter Cronkite award by journalism school at the University of Southern California which until that moment was a very prestigious award. Couric was recognized for her biased interview of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, during the recent presidential campaign (which in itself is a sad commentary on the state of Journalism. A conservative activist and former presidential candidate says the recent straw poll among a gathering of conservatives indicates that the movement is still divided in the wake of last year's election debacle. The straw poll was taken among the little over 1,750 participants at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney received 20 percent of the vote, with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal finishing second with 14 percent. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Texas Congressman Ron Paul were tied for third with 13 percent each, and fifth place went to former House Speaker...

I’m going to go out on a limb and say it was done ever-so-slightly tongue in cheek. But there was Mika Brzezinski on Morning Joe today, sporting a Team Sarah button and identifying herself as a proud Palinite. President-elect Obama has talked about engaging terrorists sponsor nations like Syria and Iran. Governor Palin has a different suggestion "Engage" Canada. NEW YORK -- The fake Sarah Palin has been doing great things for "Saturday Night Live," but the real one put "SNL" over the top to its highest overnight ratings in 14 years. "SNL" -- with Palin as a guest -- averaged a 10.7 rating/24 share in the 56 metered markets, according to preliminary estimates released Sunday by Nielsen Media Research. It would be the highest-rated "SNL" since March 12, 1994, when Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan was the host and Aretha Franklin the musical guest. "SNL" would also be the third-highest-rated show of all last week, including primetime, following only...

Republican presidential candidate John McCain, seeking to rebuild campaign momentum after a recent rough patch, got a boost from an unexpected source Friday — a working-class southern Colorado town typically labeled a Democratic powerhouse. Some 3,500 fired-up supporters packed Massari Arena on the Colorado State University-Pueblo campus to cheer on McCain, giving the senator another lift after an emotional town hall meeting in Denver and a credible — depending on who you ask — debate performance by his vice presidential selection Sarah Palin the night before. "How about Sarah Palin last night?" McCain asked, to kick things off. The answer...

Why is it that her daughter’s sex life or her husband’s 1986 DUI is fair game for the front page, but not Obama’s past drug use, his twenty-year relationship with a rabidly racist preacher (who has now mysteriously disappeared from public life), or for that matter his relationship with an admitted and proud left-wing terrorist? Does equality stop at the door of ideology? Writing in the New York Post, Dick Morris and Eileen McGann described Palin as an “existential threat to the Democratic Party” because her rise, like that of Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, or Clarence Thomas, threatens the party’s...

Quickpost this image to Myspace, Digg, Facebook, and others! Today, Perez Hilton, a celebrity gossip blogger, who has lately decided to finally take journalism seriously and post completely objective articles about politics (as can be seen by the above picture), posted Obama's infamous "pig" quote as his website's "QUOTE OF THE DAY". This comes as no surprise when considering the fact that 99% of Hollywood consider themselves not only experts on politics but also the forefront crusaders in their "global cause" to elect Obama president. Excuse me while I puke. However; It surprised me to read the comments on...

So this is the complete list of Palin rumors, at least as it stands about midnight Mountain Time on September 7, 2008. (The link will take you back to the complete and current list on my blog Explorations.) I make a point of the time because the list has been growing by around seven rumors a day; there’s at least one in my queue that I haven’t been able to completely track down yet. So the aging hippie-chick Wilson sisters of the 1970s-80s rock band Heart object to their song "Barracuda" being played at McCain Palin events. So what? Why not use another Wilson's (no relation, I think) song instead? Gretchen Wilson likely would not mind loaning her wildly popular country anthem "Redneck Woman" to Sarah Palin, I'll wager. Gretchen was a Fred Thompson supporter early on and performed at last week's RNC convention for the McCain-Palin ticket. She might even be willing to re-write a variation custom-tailored for the GOP vice presidential nominee. Just as an exercise in such speculative thought, here's one...

Gov. Sarah Palin's critics had better hope she doesn't sick America's newest brand of super hero on their heels. A group of women in Yuma say Palin is absolutely right, that no one has the same driven bark and protective bite as a hockey mom hustling to care for her brood. These ladies say they cheered Wednesday when the vice presidential candidate joked during the Republican National Convention that the only difference between hockey moms like herself and pit bulls is lipstick. "We're fierce, loyal and competitive, just as competitive as our kids," said Karen VanDeberg, whose son plays hockey...

IT'S SAFE TO SAY that Democrats awoke yesterday with a serious case of Post-Palin Depression. "Electrifying!" said U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter of Palin's poised and feisty speech that had Republican conventioneers swooning. "Reaganesque!" jubilant supporters said about Palin's rare ability to deliver a shiv to the jugular with folksy charm and perfectly timed humor. Never mind the lies, distortions and spin in her speech. Never mind the absence of substance. She pre-empted the Democrats' theme of change by presenting John McCain and herself as rebels and reformers. She neutralized her own vulnerability on inexperience by skewering Obama's admittedly thin background....

Hurray! Sarah will come to Palm Beach County and Miami soon! I just confirmed it with my local volunteer coordinator, dates TBA. Also, I was encouraged to go to the Supervisor of Elections office and get tons of voter registration forms for distributions to Catholic churches (please ask nicely and be respectful about asking to place them) But I was also cautioned about ABSENTEE REQUEST FORMS. The Fl ballot is going to be big and heavy this year. It may require up to $6.00 postage due to new postal rules about overall size. So if you do drop these off...

First, let me state that I support Sarah Palin and I couldn't be happier that she is the VP choice for McCain. Having said that, a friend said that Palin has put a bounty on wolves in Alaska. Specifically, this was the email sent out: Hoping to boost the number of wolves killed this year by permitees, Palin announced the state would pay $150 for each kill. According to an Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) news release, the bounty was instituted to "motivate permittees to redouble their efforts and to help offset the high cost of aviation fuel,...
