Perhaps you have not read the apology issued by Michael Savage, a conservative talk-show host whose show, "The Savage Nation," was recently canceled by MSNBC. The apology appeared on his Web site. "If my comments brought pain to anyone I certainly did not intend for this to happen and apologize for any such reaction. I especially appeal to my many listeners in the gay community to accept my apologies for any inadvertent insults which may have occurred." And what were these inadvertent insults which may have occurred? It turns out that a caller and Savage got into an on-air argument....

Syndicated talk show host Michael Savage continues to fight back. Fired recently from MSNBC, the conservative talker is angry with claims made by his former network MSNBC and fellow conservatives, one of whom claimed on Fox News that his TV program had low ratings. On Savage's web site, MichaelSavage.com, Savage says, "Lying about Michael Savage's ratings is not 'fair and balanced.' A phony conservative is trying to put a knife in my back while I am on the ground. It is bad enough when the Liberals lie. Now a legion of so-called conservatives are creating false statements, publishing half truths,...

GEE, who would have guessed it? Surprise, surprise. The idea that officials at MSNBC were shocked and disappointed that hyper-conservative Michael Savage would be outrageous and offensive on the air leaves something to be desired. Why hire the guy in the first place if they wanted him to be another obsequious Larry King/Phil Donahue clone? What did they expect? Lukewarm verbal pap? Warm and fuzzy philosophical ramblings? Political navel-gazing? It would be a bit like casting actor Danny DeVito in the role of Shaquille O'Neal and then learning later that, goodness gracious, DeVito is not only short but white as...

<p>On page C4 of last Tuesday’s New York Times is an article about MSNBC’s decision to fire right-wing talk show host Michael Savage.</p>
<p>Facing it, on C5, is an ad from Fox News Channel (search ), proclaiming that the network has now been number one in the all-news cable ratings for eighteen months in a row. And counting, as the ad says.</p>

Did anyone happen to hear Mitch Albom's show today and his comments regarding Michael Savage? I do not like Mitch Albom's show but it is the only thing really on during my evening commute from work. He made references to Michael Savage, all very negative and making fun of him after Mitch Albom said he doesn't normally talk about fellow radio talk show hosts. If anyone can find a transcript or audio from Mitch Alboms show today, I would very much appreciate it. I think anyone who wants to let Mitch Albom know about what really hapend with Michael Savage.

Black Network Demands an Apology from Rainbow Coalition After Official Calls NASCAR Fans 'Cracker' and 'Redneck' 7/9/03 9:43:00 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To: National and Sports desks Contact: David Almasi of Project 21, 202-371-1400, ext. 106 WASHINGTON, July 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Members of the African-American leadership network Project 21 are calling upon the Rainbow/PUSH organization to apologize for derogatory comments about fans of NASCAR auto racing made by Rainbow Sports director Charles Farrell. In a recent interview with CNSNews.com, Farrell said, "there is a perception that stock car racing is a good ole boy's Southern redneck cracker sport." "Webster's definition...

<p>July 9, 2003 -- Talk-show host Michael Savage claims he didn't know that he was on the air when he told a caller to his cable TV show that he was a "sodomite" who should "get AIDS and die." Savage, who was fired by MSNBC Monday morning, apologized for the incident - and bashed the news network - on his national radio show that night.</p>

Bob Foster, the rural Yolo County man who has taken to terrorizing TV and radio shows with prank phone calls, says his hobby "is all about getting a reaction." But this may be more than he bargained for. On Saturday, Foster called Michael Savage's live MSNBC show to mention a favorite radio duo, Don and Mike. Savage was apparently not amused and made a series of homophobic comments to Foster on the air. On Monday, news broke that the controversial broadcast personality had been fired by MSNBC. And it wasn't long before Foster began to feel the wrath of Savage...

I've never written about radio/TV shock jock Michael Savage. I don't know him, nor do I know much about him. But learning he'd just been given his own show on MSNBC a few months ago, I thought I should explore this new conservative spokesman, and what I learned was not good. The consensus, from those who knew of him, was that he wouldn't last. The betting was that he'd say something wholly inappropriate and get himself fired. Worse, the conservative movement would get tagged by his outrageousness. Those predictions came true last weekend when Savage's very brief TV career ended with...

ADL Commends MSNBC's Dismissal of Michael Savage Following Anti-Gay Comments 7/8/03 8:22:00 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To: State Desk Contact: Jonathan Bernstein or Rose Gabaeff of ADL, 415-981-3500 SAN FRANCISCO, July 8 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) lauded MSNBC's decision to remove Michael Savage's show from the air, following Savage's anti-gay remarks last weekend. At a taping of his show, Savage reportedly told a gay caller: "You should only get AIDS and die, you pig." According to news reports, these comments prompted MSNBC to fire Savage. Jonathan Bernstein, ADL Regional Director, said, "We commend MSNBC for taking this matter...

Savage Loses TV Show The Real Story What happened on the air is much different than what is being reported. It was in the middle of an airline horror story segment with a great set (see photos above). Out of nowhere a crank caller from a competitive talk show went from describing his airline horror story to making vicious personal attacks against me. I signaled and thought that this crank caller was cut from the air. His insults continued in my ear piece and I reacted to him personally as an individual who was attacking me to defend myself. Unfortunately,...

SAVAGE WARS: Michael Savage is gone - and MSNBC is a better network without him. I watched about five minutes of his show a few weeks ago and thought he came off as supremely arrogant, uninterested in engaging in serious debate and doomed to fail. I guess it was only a matter of time before the guy self destructed. Even though a network spokesman said the decision to fire Savage was an "easy" one, the folks in MSNBC's programming department should be taken to task for putting Savage on the air in the first place - and not just because...

MSNBC fired talk-show host Michael Savage yesterday for savaging a caller as a "Sodomite" and "a piece of garbage" who should die of AIDS. The rabid right-winger, whose "Savage Nation" program has drawn frequent fire from gay and lesbian groups, leaped over the line during his Saturday show, network officials said. When a gay caller joined the discussion about the travails of airplane travel, Savage interrupted and asked, "So are you one of those Sodomites?" The caller said he was and Savage ripped into him. "You should only get AIDS and die, you pig!" he snarled. Savage, his eyes hidden...

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Cable news channel MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage after the controversial talk show host wished AIDS (news - web sites) on a caller whom he dismissed as "one of the sodomites." Savage had been under fire from gay rights groups since February when the network announced it had hired the conservative commentator to host a TV version of his popular talk radio show. Saturday's episode of "The Savage Nation," his 15th since the program's debut in March, featured Savage discussing air travel with callers. One caller began discussing his experiences, and after an unintelligible part...

<p>"Now it's MSNBC's turn to get some Democratic scolding," Paul Bedard writes in the Washington Whispers column of U.S. News & World Report.</p>
<p>"We hear that Senate Democrats have called MSNBC execs to whine that, like Fox News Channel before it, the NBC spinoff is turning right and ignoring the nation's minority party," Mr. Bedard said.</p>

Now it's MSNBC's turn to get some Democratic scolding. We hear that Senate Democrats have called MSNBC execs to whine that, like Fox News Channel before it, the NBC spinoff is turning right and ignoring the nation's minority party. Which conservative hosts do they dislike the most? Michael Savage and former Rep. Joe Scarborough.

Perhaps the most obvious sign that the war on terrorism has changed the whole game for cable news networks was the recent decision by MSNBC to award a weekly talk show to a man named Michael Savage. Savage, whose politics are as far to the right as any commentator this side of G. Gordon Liddy, runs the unfortunately named program "Savage Nation." Positioned at the center of a set that would embarrass the host of a public-access cable TV show, Savage gestures and grunts and mocks his opponents (Democrats, hated liberals, anyone who is ambivalent about the Bush administration's diplomatic...

NBC News correspondant Ashleigh Banfield has ripped television news networks, including her own, for their 'glorious' coverage of the Iraq war and lack of focus on international news overall. In a speech Thursday at Kansas State University, she also attacked NBC News for hiring right wing radio talk show host Michael Savage to do a show on MSNBC. Savage recently called Banfield a 'slut' after her reports portraying the radical Arab point of view.Banfield, who first won notoriety for her coverage from the World Trade Center on 9/11, might be in some trouble for her comments. In a statement issued in...

Will Savage show on MSNBC ever come back? MSNBC keeps on this stupid wall-to-wall war coverage but some people managed to get their shows back, even if they talk about the war. Seems MSNBC wants only a few "approved" people on during this time. The absence of the advertisement for over two weeks is quite alarming - how do they make money? Do they consider controlling public opinion more important than making money? In any case Michael could say a lot about the war - they should put him back on. To Michael's credit he is pushy enough to make...

MSNBC is standing by Savage as some sponsors fleeBy Gail ShisterInquirer Columnist Despite national sponsors bailing, MSNBC says it's sticking with right-wing radio ranter Michael Savage. Procter & Gamble, Dell Computer Corp., Sharper Image, and three other national companies that sponsored Saturday's debut of Savage Nation have withdrawn from the show, MSNBC confirmed yesterday. The advertisers left because Savage's rhetoric doesn't meet their standards and commitment to diversity, according to statements from companies quoted on the Web site for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). Still, the struggling cable network is "very comfortable" with Savage, "and we expect...

As many of you know, the leftists are trying to boycott Rush and other conservative commentators. Of course they will fail with Rush simply because he is so strong. But, they just might be successful with others. Specifically Michael Savage on MSNBC (I can't STAND the blowhard but I dislike the lefties even more). Below, you will find a copy and past of one of their activities. It's what they use to make it easy to contact advertisers of various shows. Feel free to contact any of them and show them support (This list pertains specifically to Michael Savage). Here...

Tearing it up Michael Savage, once an angry white man who couldn't get the job he wanted, is now a voice of ultraconservatism. His popular radio talk show can be nasty and politically incorrect. ***breaking*** Savage Nation TV show was a BIG hit FOR MSNBC. They will now run it twice on Saturdays at 5pm and 9 pm eastern. The network people from NY called Michael right after the show and told him the news, it was all thumbs up.......He was a hit! This Saturday he is tryin to get and show 911 footage that the liberal media refuses to show America. Savage Nation Rocks!

THE FORMAT of “The Savage Nation” will be based on Savage’s number one rated afternoon drive time radio program, which is heard on over 300 stations, including New York’s WABC and San Francisco’s KSFO. The new show will originate from San Francisco. It will feature penetrating and provocative commentary and opinion from Savage, mirroring his #1 New York Times best selling book “The Savage Nation.”

MSNBC shouldn't give voice to SavageBy ERIC DEGGANS, Times TV Critic © St. Petersburg Times, published March 7, 2003 He doesn't have the media profile of Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly. And his television show won't debut until Saturday evening. But firebrand radio talk show host Michael Savage has already brought a growing controversy to struggling MSNBC. The dustup began in mid February, when the cable TV news network announced that it was hiring Savage, whose syndicated radio show is heard on 300 stations and whose book, The Savage Nation, occupied the top spot on the New York Times' bestseller...

MSNBC Moving Ahead With Shock Jock Show By DAVID BAUDER The Associated Press Wednesday, March 5, 2003; 4:57 PM Before it even debuts this weekend, talk-radio star Michael Savage's new MSNBC show has attracted more attention than anything else the struggling news network has on the air. Advocacy groups, led by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, have launched a letter-writing campaign to keep Savage off the air. The syndicated radio personality fought back by calling his critics "stinking rats who hide in the sewers." His show, "The Savage Nation," will air at 5 p.m. EST on Saturday despite...

By . Posted 12:59:00 AM Nationally syndicated talk radio host Michael Savage is being attacked for his conservative beliefs. Recently MSNBC offered the host a Saturday television program to shake up their failed line-up. Almost immediately, gay and women’s rights activists expressed outrage with the plan to put Savage on television. Much like they did to Dr. Laura because of her conservative beliefs, the radial gays and feminists are now trying to prevent Savage from getting his television show launched. As reported in the Monday edition of the New York Post, these radical groups have scheduled a meeting with NBC...

Check out the GLAAD.ORG website. It's unbelievable. They are recruiting their masses to bring down the Savage Nation TV Show, so in response I say we bombard their site with reports of civil right's "violations" of their own. Go to their site, hit "contact" at the top, and report the violation of Michael Savage's rights to free speech!!!!

"MSNBC executives can deny it all they want, but they are definitely looking to cut into Fox News' perceived monopoly of 'conservative' viewers," the anonymous Prowler writes at www.americanprowler.org. "On Saturday, the NBC-controlled cable network will air a show featuring San Francisco-based talk-radio host Michael Savage. "Meanwhile, they mull how best to utilize former Republican House leader Dick Armey in their programming. "But it isn't just in front of the camera that MSNBC is looking to change its point of view. In the past month, the cable channel has been interviewing and hiring researchers, story editors and producers with a...

Savage Attack Some lefty organizations are on another mission. They’re trying to make sure that radio talk show phenom Michael Savage doesn’t get his own cable TV program. MSNBC has slotted Savage for a one-hour weekly spot. As a result, the usual gang of libs is busy organizing boycotts, protests and all-around whining sessions. One of the shriller groups is reportedly planning to meet with NBC chairman Robert Wright. The idea is to cement a Savage cancellation before the show even airs. These agents of all things left call Savage a misogynist, homophobe and white supremacist. Like we haven’t heard...

Tuesday, March 4, 2003 Thought Police Try to Censor Michael Savage The latest proof that the left-wing thought police want free speech only for themselves: A homosexual group is trying to stop Michael Savage's show now before he utters one word in his debut Saturday on MSNBC. Savage says he'll counterattack "with all the abilities" he has, including filing lawsuits and mobilizing his army of radio fans.
