'Doctor Who' Timewarps To The Past

This story contains some spoilers for the "Doctor Who" episode "The End of Time, Part 1," that aired Dec. 25 on BBC and Dec. 26 on BBC America. Are some of the things you're hearing about "Doctor Who" post David Tennant, Russell T. Davies and Julie Gardner sounding a little retro to you? Well, that's by design. Steven Moffat is looking to restore the BBC icon to its classic roots that some are describing as an effort to integrate fans of the original "Doctor Who" series. However, others say it's more about what Moffat likes.

It's not even David Tennant's final episode, yet "Doctor Who" is making history for BBC America. "Waters of Mars," the latest "Doctor Who" special that had originally aired at the end of November in the United Kingdom, attracted 1.1 million viewers for BBC America Saturday, marking that cable channel's best primetime numbers ... ever.

Syfy Orders New Seasons Of 'Stargate: Universe,' 'Sanctuary'

Friday nights might not be too hot when it comes to network television, but it might be because viewers are heading to cable instead. Syfy's fall one-two Friday punch of "Stargate: Universe" and "Sanctuary" earned season renewals late Sunday, confirming what many observers had predicted would happen all along thanks to strong ratings from both shows. In fact, both SGU and "Sanctuary" even beat out network programming more than once, including the Joss Whedon series "Dollhouse" on Fox, which has since been cancelled.

Syfy Releases 'Caprica' Pilot Online ... For Free

Nine months after bringing the pilot episode to DVD, and just weeks from its highly-anticipated debut, Syfy president Dave Howe told reporters Monday the network was going to release a censored version of the pilot online so that anyone with an Internet connection can watch it for free. The move is a bold one for Syfy, and Howe admitted to Airlock Alpha that it could make the audience tuning in for the same episode in January smaller than reality.

Teaser trailer for new Buck Rogers series looks AWESOME

We were a bit skeptical when we first heard earlier this year about a web series based on the classic sci-fi comic Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. James Cawley, whose Cawley Entertainment Company had obtained the rights to the character created back in 1928, said he was aiming for a "retro-contemporary" look to the show. But what exactly did that mean? And he also announced that he hoped to release 20 Buck Rogers episodes a year, starting in late in 2010.

John Barrowman Confirms That Jack Is Back!

When we last saw Capt. Jack Harkness he was in a bad way indeed. His grandson was dead (at his hands), his daughter no longer wanted to know him, his lover and teammate Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) had been killed and he had lost all faith in the world. So, not a good place to be in. But, that won't stop him from making a comeback.

Climate science update: from bad to worse (7C degrees temperature rise, 3 foot sea level rise.)

PARIS (AFP) – The planet could warm by seven degrees Celsius (10.8 degrees Fahrenheit) and sea levels could rise by more than a metre (3.25 feet) by 2100, scenarios that just two years ago were viewed as improbable, scientists said on Tuesday. In the widest overview on global warming since a landmark report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report in 2007, the authors said manoeuvering room for tackling the carbon crisis was now almost exhausted. The 64-page "Copenhagen Diagnosis" aims at the December 7-18 UN conference in Denmark, tasked with forging a planet-wide deal on greenhouse-gas...

Could Khan Be Back For 'Star Trek' Sequel?

The idea of bringing back Khan is enough to give any Star Trek fan goose bumps. He was harsh, calculating and is considered the greatest villain of the franchise. But, although no decisions have been made on if there is even a place for Khan in the new movie, director J.J. Abrams has hinted he could be back. "We're not even at that stage yet," he said. "But the fun of where we are on the sequel is we could use some of what was done before in a new way. But we haven't even figured out what we would...
