BLOOMINGTON, Minnesota — Police in Minnesota confirmed Tuesday they were investigating the ex-boyfriend of a Temple woman missing for more than a week in connection with the 2009 disappearance of a woman from Minnesota. Bloomington Police department Public Information Officer Mike Hartley said they were looking at Cedric Marks as a possible person of interest in the missing persons case of April Pease. However, Hartley said he was not considered a suspect in the Pease case. "April Pease was reported missing in 2009 and since that time the case has been open and all leads actively investigated by our agency,...

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) tore into fellow Republican Rep. Steve King (Iowa) on Friday after King questioned how terms such as “white supremacist” and "white nationalist" were offensive, writing in an op-ed that Republicans with opinions like King's damage the party and the nation as a whole. Scott wrote in an op-ed for The Washington Post that the party often struggles with “civility and fairness,” pointing to King’s comments, which drew swift blowback from conservatives and Democrats. “When people with opinions similar to King’s open their mouths, they damage not only the Republican Party and the conservative brand but also...

The father of a student shot and killed during the Parkland school massacre has been appointed to the state Board of Education, Gov. Rick Scott announced Friday evening. For 52-year-old Andy Pollack, it is all about accountability. “That word has haunted me since my daughter was murdered,” Pollack, of Coral Springs, said Friday night. His daughter, Meadow, 18, a senior, was shot nine times during the Valentine’s Day shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Meadow’s body was found in a third-floor hallway. She was lying on top of the body of 14-year-old freshman Cara Loughran, as if protecting her....

TALLAHASSEE — The fallout over Florida's turbulent recount is escalating after the state's outgoing Republican governor decided to oust a South Florida elections official. Gov. Rick Scott late Friday suspended embattled Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes even though Snipes had already agreed to step down from her post in early January. Scott replaced Snipes with his former general counsel general counsel, Peter Antonacci, to lead the department even though he has no elections experience. Snipes responded by rescinding her previous resignation — and will now be "fighting this to the very end," her attorney said during a Saturday...

Now that, finally, the elections in Florida have reached a conclusion, there are lessons worth learning. One is on the subject of race. There was a fateful anomaly in racial voting in the governor's race between Democrat Andrew Gillum and Republican Rick DeSantis, now Florida's governor-elect. Given that Gillum, formerly mayor of Tallahassee, was running to become the first black governor of Florida, we might have expected black enthusiasm for his candidacy on the order of the waves of black enthusiasm for the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama. But it didn't happen. Gillum received a lower percentage of the black...

UPDATED AS OF 11/15/18 1:26 PM 60 of 67 counties have now completed the machine recount and reported results. With almost 75% of votes recounted, Rick Scott’s lead has now GROWN by 54 votes. “Everyone knows how this is going to end. Everyone’s in on the joke here. What the Democrats want to do here is throw out all the fraud protections on the books, not reelect Bill Nelson. The longer Nelson keeps this going, the more people will forget his decades of public service and remember him as a sore loser who was used as a pawn by national...

Democrats and Republicans are bracing for a protracted and volatile recount in Florida as election officials rush to meet a Thursday deadline to complete the process. Recounts in three statewide races were in full swing, with the nail-biter race between Sen. Bill Nelson (D) and Gov. Rick Scott (R) taking center stage. Votes are also being retabulated for the state's gubernatorial race between former Rep. Ron DeSantis (R) and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum (D). The unfolding drama, and the legal battles surrounding it, are reminiscent of Florida’s presidential recount battle in 2000 that resulted in the election of former President...

Broward Circuit Judge Jack Tuter said Monday that he would not issue an injunction in response to a request from Gov. Rick Scott (R) that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and county sheriffs impound ballots and voting machines in the county when they’re not in use, according to CBS Miami. The announcement comes a day after Scott filed a pair of emergency motions in Palm Beach and Broward County courts, as legal action intensifies over the too-close-to-call Senate race between the governor and Sen. Bill Nelson (D). The race is now undergoing a machine recount that must be completed...

Just days before the eightieth anniversary of Kristallnacht, when Nazis burned synagogues, looted Jewish homes and shops, and rounded up Jewish families for concentration camps, Tucker Carlson’s home was surrounded by Antifa thugs who pounded on his door (cracking it), terrifying his wife, uttered threats against him and his family and painted an anarchist symbol on his driveway while the DC police did nothing to these modern-day brownshirts. This is not the first time they have engaged in violence and threats in my city, and not the first time there have been no legal consequences for their lawless, threatening behavior....

All counties have completely reported everything except overseas and military ballots. https://floridaelectionwatch.gov/CountyReportingStatus There aren't any more ballots in Broward or Palm Beach. As I predicted in another thread, Scott holds a 12.5K lead. No recount ever, anywhere, in history has overturned a lead of that magnitude. The largest change in votes in a recount previously was Gore's attempted theft of Florida in 2000, and even with all the shenanigans and hanging chads, he only managed to turn about 1200 votes. This is 10x that number for Scott and nearly 30x that number for DeSantis.

The Broward County ballot cleverly buried Senate check-boxes down in the Instructions text block, resulting in high numbers of overlooked & unchecked Senate votes. These machine-counted ballots with the unchecked Senate boxes could be culled out after the voting ended and fraudulently filled-in beyond the view of poll watchers. The stacks of these now illegally "loaded" ballots will be quietly waiting for the upcoming recount when, once again, they will zip thru the machines. But, with this 2nd trip through the vote reader, each formerly blank box will now be blacked-in--and a torrent of new Senate votes will magically appear in favor of...

Broward County’s undervote rate is way out of line with every other county in Florida, which exhibited, at most, a 0.8-percent difference. (There is one outlier — the sparsely populated Liberty County — where votes cast in the Senate race were 1 percent higher than in the governor race, but there we’re talking about a difference of 26 votes, not more than 26,000, as is the case in Broward.)

Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is warning that the fate of his state’s governorship could hang in the hands of Florida’s Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes, whom he’s called incompetent for violating state and federal laws. A liberal candidate similarly painted her as incompetent and corrupt. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum initially conceded the Florida race to Republican Ron DeSantis, but backtracked after vote totals changed Thursday, narrowing the gap to less than half a percent in both the gubernatorial and senatorial races. Broward County is often the slowest of the state’s 67 counties to count votes, and...

Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott, who is involved in a tight contest with incumbent Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson for one of the state's US Senate seat, made claims on Thursday that officials in two Florida counties are tampering with election results. Scott, using his authority as governor, got involved in his own race by ordering law enforcement officials to investigate board of election actions in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Scott's US Senate campaign, along with the Republican Senate campaign arm, filed a lawsuit claiming that election officials in Broward County are refusing to release public records. “Every Floridian...

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) is suing Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes, alleging that her office has withheld crucial voter information as Scott's closely watched Senate race against Sen. Bill Nelson (D) appears set for a recount. The lawsuit, filed Thursday evening, accuses Snipes’s office of withholding records regarding how many people voted, how many ballots have been counted and how many more votes remain untallied in Broward. “The lack of transparency raises substantial concerns about the validity of the election process,” his lawsuit reads. It demands an emergency hearing ahead of a critical noon Saturday deadline for...
